Athens, Santorini & Mykonos with 3 Guided Tours | SemiPrivate | 10 Days - K
Kristen • traveled in September
The islands were beautiful - we especially loved Syros, as it was less crowded and expensive than some of the more touristy spots. It was really convenient having all the hotels and ferries booked for us, as well as transport to & from the airport, hotels & ferries. That took a lot of the stress out of travel. The booking agents were very responsive when we needed to contact them. The Brazzera hotel staff even rushed to make us breakfast on the day we were leaving Syros when they saw us getting in a taxi at 7:30am (when breakfast only started at 8). The hotels are clean and comfortable, but aren't directly in the main cities. It's easy to rent a scooter/ATV or take the bus into town.

Would highly recommend - we received great support and guidance every step of the tour - from guides meeting us at the pier of each ferry transfer, to seamless and on time transport for transfer to and from accommodation. TravelZone really took the stress and effort out of navigating between the islands (was our first time in Greece also), and this let us just enjoy the whole trip much more! Would certainly use their services in the future, and will be recommending to anyone I know who is looking to travel to Greece! -- Aaron

Best tour companies for Greece tours
Looking at the feedback from our travelers in Greece, Travel Zone stands out for getting the basics right - they handle transfers smoothly and stay in good contact with guests. What really catches my attention though is Intrepid's approach, where guides like Rita Hajdu and Fotis Angelopoulos make a real difference by sharing local insights and keeping their groups running well. Wonderful Holidays does solid work with the logistics and picks good hotels, which matters a lot for honeymooners wanting everything to run smoothly. They could probably add a few more excursions to round out their packages, based on what couples have told us. Dot Travel Greece is a bit more of a mixed bag. While some people appreciate their punctuality and how they organize things, others have run into issues with certain hotels not meeting expectations and some surprise costs popping up along the way. For anyone planning a Greek trip right now, I'd lean toward Travel Zone or Intrepid. They consistently deliver what they promise, and the personal touches from their guides really help you connect with the places you're visiting. Plus, having clear communication makes such a difference when you're trying to coordinate everything in a foreign country.
Best places to start your Greece tour
Athens stands out as the main gateway for Greece tours, with 93 of our customers starting their trips from here. You can also begin from Heraklion, Santorini and Mykonos, though these are less common choices. Looking at our booking patterns, it's smart to lock in your tour about 4 months ahead - specifically 127 days before departure. This becomes especially important during summer when popular island routes get booked up fast. Our travelers typically suggest taking at least a week to properly see both mainland history and island destinations, though two weeks gives you more room to discover lesser-known spots and really connect with local life. If you're watching your budget, look at traveling during shoulder season when hotel prices drop quite a bit, but the weather stays nice for both exploring sites and enjoying the beaches.

Winter in Greece is perfect for crowd-free cultural trips and local experiences. Popular 7-day routes link Athens, Delphi, and the Meteora monasteries, with guides bringing ancient sites like the Acropolis and Sanctuary of Apollo to life. Winter also shines for Athens-based food tours, traditional cooking classes, and market tastings. In the Peloponnese, you can explore ancient theaters and quiet coastal towns without the summer rush. Hotels are more affordable, sites are peaceful, and you'll see a more authentic side of Greece.

Spring brings perfect conditions for exploring mainland classical sites in Greece. Our 7-day routes from Athens take you through Mycenae, Olympia and also Delphi, where our guides really shine at connecting Greek myths to the places you're seeing - like the Temple of Zeus and original Olympic stadium grounds. The trip flows naturally into Meteora, where you'll climb up to monasteries built right into massive rock formations. Some travelers add 3-4 days in Santorini or Mykonos, which works nicely in May before the summer rush hits the caldera walking paths.

- Summer 2026
Summer is prime time for island combinations - most travelers go for 9-day trips linking Athens, Paros, Naxos and also Santorini. You get proper beach time at spots like Chrissi Akti and Kolympithres, plus chances to wander through white villages and local wine estates. Our small-group sailing trips really come into their own now too; 8-12 people spend a week exploring the Saronic Islands, mixing morning yoga on quiet beaches with afternoon swims in clear blue coves. The skippers know exactly how to work with the weather, finding those perfect little spots that big tours just sail past.

Fall hits a sweet spot between culture and comfortable outdoor exploring. The 5-day classical routes cover major sites like the Theatre of Epidauros, Mycenae's hilltop fortress and also the Oracle at Delphi. Our guides mix solid historical knowledge with practical tips about modern Greek life. Another good autumn choice puts Athens together with Mykonos and also Syros - you'll see the grand Town Hall and Apollo Theatre without crowds pushing past, then settle in at local tavernas for dinner. The sea stays warm enough for swimming through October, plus you'll find better hotel deals and more space on the beaches.

Try heading to Syros and Naxos - they're less crowded but absolutely packed with authentic Greek culture. Syros has this gorgeous Town Hall and the Apollo Theatre in Ermoupoli and you've got to climb up to Ano Syros where there's this charming village topped by the Cathedral of Agios Georgios. Over in Naxos you can actually meet locals see how they live and taste amazing local foods. Our Athens Mykonos & Syros tour really digs deep into these places especially Syros and includes a great guided tour of Mykonos too.

Greek food is incredible and every region has its own special dishes you've got to try.
