Reviews of Greece Family Tours
- Family Greek Coast Caique Cruise
A fantastic trip cruising the Aegean Sea. Our guide Thanos wowed us with his enthusiasm for Evia and Greece, its history, its coastline, its food and all it has to offer. As a family we embraced life onboard, which was cramped in the cabins, but expected in a vessel of this design and age. Great, traditional food was prepared onboard for breakfast and lunch. And dinner was always an experience on Thanos’ recommendation. We shared this trip with a wonderful group of fellow travellers. Many laughs were had and friendships made. There was a change to our planned itinerary due to high winds but it didn’t detract from the overall trip. Swimming off the boat and the views when sailing were absolutely amazing. Evia is a beautiful, untouched island and I’m so glad we took the plunge and booked this trip.
- Delphi and Meteora Two Days Tour from Athens
Easy way to visit these inland locations. Delphi itself is alot smaller than one would expect since it is told it was the religious center of the ancient Greek world. For a place, that Alexander the Great visited before becoming world famous, grandeur is lacking. The setting of the location is very nice. Food at Delphi museum was extremely expensive. The tour organisation is self is dedicated to its guests and helps you out with all practicalities. Bring a book or tablet on the bus. I would recommend them.
- Nafplio, Mycenae and Epidaurus Two Days Tour from Athens
The tour really went well until we were taken out of the town of Nafplio and dropped off at a hotel in the country rather than in Nafplio. The tour was sold as an opportunity to walk around the ancient city in the afternoon and evening and morning. No where were we told that our hotel would be so far from the old city that we would have to taxi in and out each time we wanted to walk around in the featured city. Imagine being told you would be able to stay overnight in a tour supplied hotel and enjoy walking around Sausalito and the afternoon, evening and morning then discover you were being dropped off in San Francisco. One third of the tour was a ripoff.
What our customers ask about Greece Family Tours
What are the best family-friendly activities and attractions in Greece?
Greece's diverse landscape provides a natural playground for families. Children can follow in the footsteps of ancient athletes at Olympia's original Olympic track or climb to see the gravity-defying monasteries of Meteora. The Acropolis in Athens serves as an open-air classroom while Santorini's trio of colored beaches (black red and white) offers unique swimming spots. Boat tours around Santorini add extra excitement with hot spring dips and sunset viewing. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "Everything went perfectly and the guides were incredibly informative and entertaining. The tour was quite enjoyable for the whole family."
What are the recommended accommodations for families in Greece?
Family-focused accommodations in Greece range from city hotels to beachfront resorts. The Acropolian Spirit Hotel in Athens places families within walking distance of major sites while offering 4-star amenities. Santorini's El Greco Resort features multiple pools and dedicated family suites. The Adonis Hotel in Mykonos combines family rooms with sea views. As noted by a TourRadar traveler: "The hotels were all beautiful! We stayed at the Pelican Bay in Mykonos and El Greco Resort in Santorini. Both properties were perfect for families with great locations and helpful staff."
What's the best time of year to visit Greece with children?
The shoulder seasons of May-June and September-October provide the most comfortable conditions for families. Temperatures hover between 75-85°F with fewer tourists at popular sites. Spring brings pleasant conditions for exploring Athens' ancient ruins while fall offers warm water for swimming at beaches like Porto Katsiki in Lefkada. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "In May the weather was hot but perfect for exploring with kids - not too crowded at the main sites."
How do the ferry transfers work when traveling with children between islands?
Greek island-hopping with children runs smoothly thanks to organized transfer services. Fast ferries connect popular routes like Mykonos to Santorini in about 2.5 hours. Boats come equipped with indoor seating cafes and entertainment options. Door-to-door service includes pickup from hotels and assistance with luggage. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The transfers were seamless and very well-coordinated which made travelling between islands stress-free especially with kids."
How accessible are medical facilities for families traveling in Greece?
Medical care in Greek tourist destinations meets international standards. Athens Santorini and Mykonos maintain modern hospitals staffed with English-speaking doctors. Many hotels including the El Greco Resort in Santorini maintain direct connections with local healthcare providers. A TourRadar traveler shares: "When my child needed a doctor in Santorini the hotel staff quickly arranged for a physician to visit our room."
What dining options are available for families during the tour?
Greek dining culture welcomes families with open arms. Hotel restaurants like the Divani Palace in Athens start the day with child-friendly breakfast spreads. Popular areas such as Mykonos Town and Oia offer early dinner times and dedicated kids' menus. Local tavernas often prepare simpler versions of Greek classics for young diners. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The restaurants were very accommodating for families with plenty of options for picky eaters."
Are the walking tours and site visits suitable for children?
Tour guides in Greece adapt their presentations for young audiences. Athens guides transform the Acropolis into an engaging history lesson through storytelling. Sites like the Temple of Olympian Zeus provide regular rest stops and shade. The Santorini volcano tour includes child-friendly geology lessons and safe paths. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The guide made ancient history come alive for our children through fascinating stories and interactive experiences."
