What people love about Greece Tours in August
- Athens, Santorini & Mykonos with 3 Guided Tours | SemiPrivate | 10 Days
Amazing service , transportation always on time. Great accommodation and locations!
- Best of Greece (15 days) Athens & 4 Islands in 15 days (Self-Guided)
There were some issues with arranging the trip but once that was resolved everything was great. The hotels were all different -- but very nice with concierge services that were very helpful with bus schedules, restaurant suggestions, etc. The transportation to and from the airports and ferries was also great. The ferries were a bit of a challenge but the ferries themselves were very comfortable. We visited over Greek Easter so that was an added delight -- the candle lighting in Syros was amazing, Dot Travel at the Seabreeze Hotel in Crete was also great with helping us to arrange two guided tours and bus schedules for travel on our own, We are older, 79 and 81, so really enjoyed the freedom to plan what we wanted to do each day. It was a great adventure,

Irene was very professional and attentive to us and our itinerary. She acted quickly when there were unexpected issues so that our vacation was maintained at the highest of quality and comfort. Her contacts at each junction were informative and the transfers were excellent as well, especially Petros who helped us above and beyond.
What our customers ask about Greece Tours in August 2026
What is the weather like in Greece during August?
Greece experiences its peak summer temperatures in August with considerable variation across regions. Athens sees daytime temperatures reaching 95°F (35°C) while coastal areas and islands like Santorini and Mykonos stay around 82°F (28°C). Guests at the Arion Hotel in Athens suggest planning outdoor activities before 11am. The Aegean islands benefit from cooling Meltemi winds making water activities comfortable at locations like Paradise Beach in Mykonos or Perissa Beach in Santorini where afternoon breezes provide natural air conditioning.
What are the most popular beach destinations in Greece during August?
Beach enthusiasts flock to Santorini's Red Beach and White Beach with many booking the Caldera Classic boat tour for better access. Paradise Beach in Mykonos draws crowds to its clear waters with guests at Paradise Beach Resort noting excellent swimming conditions. The beaches of Paros including Naoussa and Santa Maria offer quieter alternatives. Most beaches reach peak crowds from 11am to 4pm. Local beach clubs often suggest arriving before 10am or after 4pm for a more relaxed experience.
How crowded are the Greek Islands in August?
The Greek Islands reach their busiest point in August. Popular spots such as Oia in Santorini and Little Venice in Mykonos become particularly packed during sunset. The Acropolis in Athens sees its highest visitor numbers between 10am and 2pm. Guests at the Poseidon Hotel Athens recommend visiting major sites before 9am. Less touristy islands like Ios and Paros provide breathing room away from the crowds of Mykonos and Santorini.
What are the best dining experiences in Greece during August?
August's warm evenings create perfect conditions for outdoor dining throughout Greece. Santorini's Kallos Imar offers rooftop dining with caldera views. Mykonos's Matoyanni Street fills with diners enjoying fresh seafood at local tavernas. The waterfront restaurants in Naoussa Paros serve authentic Greek dishes in a relaxed setting. Many hotels including El Greco in Santorini start the day with traditional breakfast spreads featuring local specialties like Greek yogurt honey and fresh fruit.
How reliable is transportation between Greek islands in August?
Ferry connections run regularly between islands during August though booking ahead is necessary. Fast ferries connect Mykonos to Santorini in 2-4 hours while standard services to Athens take 4-8 hours. Guests at Athens Avenue Hotel suggest choosing morning departures as afternoon services can face delays due to strong winds. Flights between Athens and Santorini take 45 minutes offering a faster but pricier alternative.
Which Greek islands are best for nightlife in August?
Mykonos stands out for nightlife with Paradise Beach Club hosting major DJs throughout summer. Paradise Beach Resort guests note parties starting at sunset and continuing late. Ios attracts a younger crowd to its Chora district while Santorini's Fira offers upscale evening venues. Far Out Beach Club in Ios has become a hub for beach parties and music events drawing party-goers from across the islands.
