What people love about Aegean Islands Tours
- Athens to Santorini
It was an excellent holiday.everything was fab and our intrepid tour leader marijke catharina van rijn was the best tour leader ever and really made the holiday brilliant. Il def go on holiday wuth intrepid again.
- Bewitching Greece with All Inclusive beach stay
Our overall experience was good. They were very helpful when we had an issue and responded quickly and efficiently. We found the tour of the Acropolis had too many people, on top of how crowded the location was to start. I recommend going to see the Acropolis on the off season. I would recommend Tour Radar.
- Greek Island Hopping (Standard)
As an early thirties professional woman, I was hesitant to go on a Contiki Tour, thinking I would be "too old" and wouldn't enjoy myself in the group scene. I was SO wrong! I had a blast and cannot imagine ever having another holiday that will be as good as this one. I met some amazing people that felt like family within a day and I have missed them ever since we parted. I saw some of the most magical views and sunsets in the world; I ate delicious seafood; I drank countless free pour G&T's; I got a Greek tattoo; I swam in the clearest and bluest waters; I went on ALL of the optionals and didn't regret a single thing; I danced every night with the crew and pushed through the tired because it was always worth it; I slept in quad-share rooms with no personal space and swamp-like bathrooms but laughed because it was all part of the experience; I carried my heavy suitcase up and down hundreds of stairs because Greece is just full of stairs and hills; I rode a donkey; I rode a cable car; I jumped from a yacht; I rode a quad bike; I partied at Paradise Beach; and I ate SO MANY GYROS! Our TM (Kev) was knowledgeable, young and fun - he catered to our every need and nothing ever seemed too much for him. I could go on, but you need to experience this awesome tour for yourself. The only thing I didn't love was how short it was... I'd go back in a moment without hesitation.
Most popular destinations in Aegean Islands
The caldera views and whitewashed villages of Santorini set up an incredible scene for our most popular tours. Our travelers tell us they love the volcano walks - you'll step across dark volcanic rocks as guides share stories about the island's dramatic geological past. The caldera sunset cruises have really taken off, where you'll sail by red and white beaches, take a dip in thermal springs and watch the sun sink into the Aegean. Local wines paired with Greek dishes add so much to the experience, and many guests tell us the food tastings and winery visits turn out to be unexpected favorites of their trip. March-April or October-November work really well for visits - you'll find fewer people around and the weather stays just right for hiking and outdoor activities. The morning tours are particularly good for clear views and comfortable temperatures while exploring the volcanic landscape.

Travel Aegean Islands your way
Our sailing experiences through the Cyclades consistently rank among our most popular ways to explore the Aegean Islands. These week-long voyages typically start from either Santorini or Mykonos, with routes that take in the less-visited gems like Amorgos, Folegandros and also the Small Cyclades. Our customers particularly love the intimate setting of 8-12 travelers per yacht, with many highlighting how their skippers went above and beyond - from helping catch sea urchins to arranging authentic local dinners in each port. The yachts make daily swimming stops in secluded bays, while evenings are spent exploring traditional villages or enjoying sunset views from tavernas. Several itineraries include special touches like visiting Naxos's ancient temples, discovering Syros's neo-classical architecture and exploring Ios's hidden beaches. What makes these trips special is the flexibility - skippers adjust routes based on weather and group interests, and you'll often find yourself in tiny harbors where larger cruise ships can't dock.
See all Sailing toursOur most successful Greek island tours run for 11 days and take you through Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and finally Santorini, with stays in quality hotels along the way. There's plenty of time built in to experience Mykonos' buzzing nightlife, find your perfect spot on Naxos' long beaches and get lost in Paros' stone-lined streets. Our guides Irene and Effie really make these trips come alive; they're pros at handling any changes and love sharing their favorite local spots with our groups.

What Makes These Islands Different from Other Greek Spots?
The Aegean Islands are really special places that sit between Greece and Turkey bringing together centuries of history with incredible natural beauty. You'll notice different cultural influences everywhere you look from the way buildings are designed to the food people cook. Take the Dodecanese islands they've got this fascinating mix of Italian and Turkish touches in the architecture and local dishes from when Italy used to rule there.
Which Lesser-Known Islands Should I Check Out?
If you're looking for the real Greek island experience head to Syros the Cyclades capital where you can explore both the grand Ermoupoli area and the traditional village of Ano Syros. Koufonisia's pretty special too they call it Europe's Jamaica with no cars and these amazing untouched beaches. Amorgos is another good choice with dramatic scenery ancient ruins and it's where they filmed The Big Blue as our traveler Bonnie discovered on her sailing trip.
