What people love about Iceland Tours in September
- Best of Iceland
The Best of Iceland tour with G Adventures was outstanding! Oliver was an excellent guide: knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, kept us on time so that we could see everything and gave us lots of great tips from how to save money to how to set our cameras to capture the northern lights. Iceland is an incredibly beautiful country. I highly recommend this tour!
- 5 Days Land of Northern Lights
We had an awesome time! Especially our guide Katrina was very professional, knowledgeable and funny.
- Iceland Discovery
The tour was amazing! Our tour guide Magnus gave a lot of local insight to Iceland and always made the effort to talk to all of us. Although most of the accommodation was nice and cosy but there were some stays which appeared like they were not cleaned before our arrival such as dirty sinks and dusty floors and cupboards.

September signals the start of aurora viewing season as nights grow longer and darker. What wildlife can you see in Iceland during September?
September offers final chances to spot puffins before migration particularly around Borgarfjörður Eystri. Whale watching excursions from Húsavík and Akureyri regularly encounter humpback whales and dolphins. As one visitor noted: "Our September whale watching tour from Akureyri was incredible - we saw multiple humpbacks and even some dolphins." Hotels like Hotel Akureyri provide convenient access to wildlife viewing areas.
What is the weather like in Iceland during September?
September temperatures typically range from 7-12°C (45-54°F) with some rainfall as summer transitions to autumn.
