Really enjoyed the five day tour and saw some fabulous nature and scenery. My only criticism is that we did see a lot of things duplicated like many beaches and the driver was sometimes using his mobile phone and driving with one hand which with some very high winds was a little alarming.

Unfortunately, we were told right at the start of the tour that we wouldn't be able to see any auroras. In the end, we did see them, but we didn't actively look or drive to a nearby, cloudless area where we could have seen them much better and more spectacularly. After dropping off at our accommodation, we had to take care of ourselves. Therefore, the term "Northern Lights tour" does not fit for this. However, the landscape and everything else was spectacular.

A nicely planned trip with a full itinerary. As an observation, a trip with Northern Lights in the title should have a dedicated plan to search for the lights. Each night the response from our guide was, “Be on the lookout tonight and let the group know if you see them.” I thought the food at the hotel Geirland was overpriced and limited in options. The tour itself was nice, and I am glad I took it. Others should be aware of what you may experience.

We had the 5 day tour which was broken down to a 2 day & a 3 day tour. The 3 day tour got cancelled due to weather & it left us stranded to find a hotel for 2 nights. I enjoyed the 2 day tour with our tour guide who was very helpful, but the whole tour in general could use a good update on communication. To start, I had no idea on the hotel arrangements for the last day. I've traveled a lot of different tour groups & each one had one thing in common. the first day of the tour is considered the day before the actual tour starts & the last day always ends with breakfast/checkout day. This way everyone is at the same hotel for pickup. The other thing is that there was no dinner included at the hotels that are very remote. We were stuck with very expensive bad food. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed with Arctic Adventures.

My wife and I thought the whole experience was wonderful. The Mercedes van was comfortable and the hotels we stayed in were as well. Thrush our guide was very attentive and shared his vast knowledge of the land of Icelandic tales and facts. Breakfast was included but lunch and dinner were not. At dinner we would all sit together and share stories. Great Adventure!!

    Tour Details
    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten April 2025

Our tours are suitable for solo travelers. If you want to enjoy the comfort of your own room, you would have to select the additional extra - single room supplement. If you are fine with sharing the room with another traveler of the same gender, you can skip on adding the single room fee to the booking. We recommend arriving to the country on a day before and leaving on a day after the tour. We only provide accommodation for the duration of the tour.

Interested in the 5 Day itinerary. Few questions: Is May 30th night included in the itinerary? Can Vegan food options be accommodated? What town and hotel are the accommodations in? Are there special pickup and drop off locations? Can luggage be stored in Reykjavic at the tour office? How many bags allowed per person on the group tour? What is a typical group size? and mode of transportation?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten April 2025

Regarding your inquiries: 1) If you join the tour on the 26th of May, you will be back to Reykjavik on the 30th of May between 6 and 7 P.M. 2) Breakfast is included at all the hotels we stay in during the tour. The breakfast will be a typical breakfast buffet, offering bread, toppings, cereal, yogurt, fruits, coffee, and tea etc. 3) Your first hotel - Adventure Hotel Hellissandur is located in the Snaefellsnes area. Hotel Island - located in the city centre in Reykjavik. Adventure Hotel Geirland is 3 km off the Route 1 Ring Road and 3 minutes' drive from Kirkjubæjarklaustur village. 4) You will be picked up at one of our designated locations in Reykjavik and usually dropped off at the same location you were picked up. 5) For multi-day tours, each participant is allowed to bring a small backpack and 1 piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 20 kg (44 lbs). 6) Group sizes may vary. Our mini buses with Arctic Adventures logo can take up to 18 people.

Kindly provide the link for pickup and drop off list as we need to make hotel reservation for May 25th and May 30th. As for lunch and dinner, will Vegan options be available at the locations? are we allowed to carry our own food? What is the fee to store luggage? any time restrictions for luggage check-in and checkout? I understand that the second night on the itinerary is in Reykjavic, is there any sightseeing included within the city center? Any suggestions for pickup and drop off service to and from the airport to city center?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten April 2025

      1. We cannot guarantee that the vegan options will be available in all of the locations you will be staying during the tour. However, the hotels you will be staying in will have a variety of meals, so you will have a choice there. Yes, you are allowed to carry your own food for the tour. 2. The price for the luggage storage extra is 3,500 ISK. There are no restrictions for the check-in and check-out. 3. Each participant is allowed to bring a small backpack and 1 piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 20 kg (44 lbs). 4. Yes, you will be staying in Reykjavik for your second day, but please note that you will be returning to Reykjavik at approximately 18:00 after your activities, and there is no sightseeing included within the city center.

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten March 2025

The tour consists of two adventures - 2 and 3 day tours. The group will split after the 1st part of 5-day tour is finished and you will join a new group on the 2nd part of the tour. However, even though that the groups change a little bit, our customers still manage to bond and enjoy their adventure.

Do you have a way to do this or do you have an alternate tour that ends either the 19th late?

Unfortunately, the 5-day tour returns to Reykjavik on the evening of the 20th of June. We would recommend looking at a 4-day tour (South Coast, Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon & West Iceland) that is very similar, but lasts one day less and you would be returning to Reykjavik on the evening of 19th of June.
