What people love about Peru Tours in June
- Machu Picchu Adventure
I recently returned from the 8 day "Machu Picchu Adventure" small group tour and I was pleasantly surprised with most of the trip. The tour guides we had were excellent, there was a good mix of planned activities and free time, the group we had was a great mix of young people along with older people, singles, couples, etc. and overall it has been one of the best trips I have had. Below I go into more depth about the pros/cons Cons -Accomodations were very basic and varied widely room to room and across the trip. I honestly expected slightly nicer accomodations, but considering the 8 day trip was only $1499 USDI guess thats what you get. In Lima we stayed at Casa Bonita which was honestly the worst experience. The rooms were dirty (there were stains on the comforters and pillow cases) and the AC in most of the rooms didn't work, but the worst part about it was that most of the staff was not helpful or friendly. The other hotels were all slightly better as the staff at those were friendlier and the rooms were slightly better, but again just below what my expectations were. -We never got a detailed itinerary prior to the trip. The only thing we received was what is visible online. -We didn't have a lot of time to adjust to the altitude in Cusco -Some of the restaurants our tour guides suggested were too touristy Pros -The guides were incredible. They were all knowledgeable about the history and were friendly and welcoming. One of my friends left her phone on a tuk-tuk and our guide was able to call and get in touch with the driver who immediately brought the phone back to us before we got on the train to Machu Picchu. She didn't have any coins or small bills on her to tip the tuk-tuk driver (As suggested by the guide would be nice) so he paid for her instead with no expectation that she should pay him back. -the itinerary was a nice mix of structured activity and free time. We did A LOT in a short amount of time, but it was very rare that I felt outright exhausted by our schedule. When that moment came I had plenty of free time to sleep and recharge -the people we traveled with were awesome. It was mostly young travelers (22-30), but there were some older people in our group as well that fit in great -the transportation was better than expected - our buses, trains, and planes were all clean, on time, and spacious. -even though the hotels left a lot to be desired they were all in very good locations - safe and close to the city centers so that most everything we wanted to do was walkable. If you are looking for a reasonably priced adventure with some great people and can't take a lot of time off of work then this 8 day trip is for you just make sure you set your expectations for the hotels low. If you are extending on either side in Lima I'd highly suggest not booking at Casa Bonita if that is where you stay as well.
- 7 Day Andean Experience Through the Living Culture of the Incas
I enjoyed this tour very much. I was not met at the airport by anyone and had to call the tour company. That made me panic! However, Percy was an amazing, knowledgeable guide! The tour and Peru is hard walking, many steps/inclines; but it is worth it. There are lots of ruins on this tour each day. I wish that I had more than two nights with central heat in the hotel; it is hard to get the heat just right with a space heater. Plus, I took several cold showers. All in all, this tour did let me discover Peru as it advertises. It is a wonderful country with kind people and an amazing history!
- 7 Day Inca Jungle Adventure To Machu Picchu with Mountain Bike, Rafting, Zip Line and Trek.
We did this tour as a group of friends. Our tour guides Percy and Justin were fantastic and accommodating. All the activities were amazing including biking, white water rafting, Inka trail and Manchu trail. Restaurants and meals were amazing. Would definitely recommend this tour to others and be prepared to have fun!!
What our customers ask about Peru Tours in June 2026
What is the weather like in Peru during June?
June signals the start of Peru's dry season with conditions that favor outdoor exploration. Cusco sees daily temperatures around 68°F (20°C) dropping to 35°F (2°C) at night. Machu Picchu maintains mild temperatures near 70°F (21°C). The Sacred Valley experiences clear sunny days with notable temperature changes between day and night. According to TourRadar travelers "the weather was perfect for hiking and photography in places like Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake." Pack layers to adjust to these temperature variations throughout the day.
What special events or festivals happen in Peru during June?
The highlight of June is Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) celebrated on June 24th in Cusco. The festival brings the city to life with traditional processions music and ceremonies at the Sacsayhuaman fortress. As described in Terres des Incas' tour notes "This exceptional trip allows us to attend the biggest party of the Inca era where we discover ancestral traditions through ceremonial representations at Sacsayhuaman fortress." Local markets streets and public spaces fill with cultural displays during this period.
What are the best hiking trails to do in Peru during June?
The dry weather in June creates excellent conditions for Peru's signature hikes. The Classic Inca Trail Salkantay Trek and Rainbow Mountain trails are at their most accessible. Many hikers choose the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu via Wiñaywayna for its well-maintained paths and moderate crowd levels. The Hotel Prisma in Cusco provides comfortable pre-trek accommodation. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The hiking conditions were perfect in June especially for Dead Woman's Pass and our guide's knowledge of the trail's history made every step meaningful."
How crowded are major tourist sites in Peru during June?
June begins the peak tourist season in Peru. While sites like Machu Picchu see higher visitor numbers crowd control systems help maintain site integrity. One TourRadar traveler noted: "Even in peak June season our guide at Maras Moray knew exactly when to visit to avoid the largest crowds." Early morning visits to major attractions offer the best experience. Book accommodations such as Tierra Viva Cusco well ahead of time.
How far in advance should I book a Peru trip for June?
For June visits booking 6-8 months ahead is recommended especially for the Inca Trail which allows only 500 permits daily. Popular accommodations like the Lima Wasi Hotel and train tickets to Machu Picchu require early reservations. A TourRadar traveler notes: "We booked our June Inca Trail trek 7 months ahead and were glad we did as permits sold out quickly for the popular summer months." This advanced planning ensures access to preferred tour dates and accommodations.
