What people love about Peru Tours in July
- The Inca Journey
Excellent tour, full of great sites to visit.
- 7 Day Andean Experience Through the Living Culture of the Incas
Jonathan and Percy were both great. This was a great week, and one of our best vacations.
- 7 Day Inca Jungle Adventure To Machu Picchu with Mountain Bike, Rafting, Zip Line and Trek.
Incredible experience on the Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu I can’t rate Inkayni Peru highly enough! I was so nervous about choosing a company to do this trek with, as I wanted our trip to be perfect. Well, it was! Thank you to our guide, Alex, for making it so memorable. Throughout the trip, it felt like we got special treatment compared with other tour groups, and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in private rooms in nice hostels and Amazing 4 stars Hotel in Aguas Calientes and the food was AMAZING! I’m vegetarian and expected to struggle, but nope! Four course lunches and dinners, giving us plenty of fuel for all the activities: Day 1 - downhill biking and white water rafting The biking was awesome! We were given full safety gear and cruised downhill for several hours, stopping to admire incredible views on the way. When we arrived at Santa Maria, it was straight on to the rafting. So much fun! We went through loads of rapids and then stopped to jump into the river from the rocks. Dorian had towels ready for us - legend! Day 2 - hiking and hot springs Today was a tough one! We hiked 23k through the jungle, but we’re not complaining! Dorian stopped loads along the way to show us plants, animals and other cool things. We stopped off at a few houses to learn about coffee and chocolate production, and try tasty Peruvian snacks. Lunch stop and a quick rest in some hammocks, then on to Santa Teresa! After crossing the river in the cable car, we reached the hot springs - amazing after a long day of walking! Day 3 - zip line and hiking Do the zip line! It’s so fun and feels like flying - there’s no sudden drop, which I thought there would be. We did 6 zip lines, climbed a waterfall and walked across a wobbly rope bridge. After that, we hiked from the hydroelectric plant to Aguas Calientes. Great walk and we spotted our first sighting of Machu Picchu way up on the mountain top. We had a lovely meal that night, ready for the big day! Day 4 - Machu Picchu The tour was great - we’d learned loads about the Incas and Machu Picchu along the trek, so it was awesome to see it for ourselves. Thank you SO much Alex for an amazing experience and for getting rid of all of my worries about the trip. We loved every minute!
What our customers ask about Peru Tours in July 2025
What are the main festivals and cultural events in Peru during July?
July marks Peru's most vibrant festival season with Independence Day celebrations (Fiestas Patrias) on July 28-29 taking center stage. The streets of Cusco come alive during the Virgen del Carmen festival in mid-July where local dancers and musicians fill the streets. Recent visitors report the most authentic experiences come from smaller town celebrations outside major tourist areas. Local guides often arrange viewing spots for traditional dance performances and many hotels like the Tierra Viva in Cusco organize special cultural programs during this time.
How crowded are major attractions like Machu Picchu in July?
July brings peak visitor numbers to Peru's major sites especially Machu Picchu. The first morning buses to the site often fill by 5:00 AM and entrance tickets frequently sell out weeks in advance. Tour operators recommend visiting during early morning or late afternoon hours. Recent visitors who took the 5:30 AM bus report having up to two hours of relatively quiet exploration time before larger groups arrive. Working with authorized tour companies remains the most reliable way to secure specific entrance times.
How far in advance should I book a Peru trip for July?
For July visits booking 3-6 months ahead is essential particularly for sought-after accommodations and activities. The classic Inca Trail permits often sell out 6 months in advance. Popular hotels including the Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba in Sacred Valley and Casa Andina Premium in Cusco typically reach capacity by early spring. Recent travelers report even basic accommodations in Cusco and Aguas Calientes fill up quickly during this peak season.
What type of tours are available in Peru during July?
July's clear weather allows for diverse touring options across Peru. Current offerings range from the challenging 5-day Lares Trek (USD 881) to comprehensive 10-day cultural journeys (USD 2799). Many visitors opt for week-long Cusco-based packages (USD 669) that include Sacred Valley explorations. Tour accommodations vary from basic guesthouses to luxury lodges with most mid-range options like the Golden Sunrise Hotel in Aguas Calientes providing comfortable bases for daily excursions.
What are the most popular activities to do in Peru during July?
The dry season makes July ideal for outdoor activities across Peru. The Inca Trail Salkantay Trek and Rainbow Mountain trails see their highest visitor numbers. Beyond trekking visitors find clear views at Machu Picchu archaeological explorations in the Sacred Valley and cultural experiences like weaving demonstrations at the Ccaccaccollo Community. The Humantay Lake trek has become increasingly popular with visitors praising the exceptional visibility of surrounding peaks during this time.
What is the weather like in Peru during July?
July brings Peru's most stable weather patterns with dry sunny days and cold nights. Cusco sees average daytime temperatures of 20°C (68°F) dropping near freezing after dark. The Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu maintain similar daytime temperatures but experience milder nights rarely falling below 0°C (32°F). The clear skies and minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for photography and outdoor activities though the temperature swings require careful packing.
