What people love about Peru Tours in February
- The Inca Journey
Good people, Great guides showing the group incredible places.
- 7 Day Andean Experience Through the Living Culture of the Incas
Although it would’ve been nice to have a breakdown of what time we were expected to be and where, the guide, driver, and overall trip was absolutely fabulous and I strongly suggest you ask for Percy as your guide when you go on this trip. He was very knowledgeable, understanding, and helpful. Also make sure you get clear instructions/directions if you take any of the “optional” excursions.
- WONDERS OF PERU - 9 DAYS – CUSCO & PUNO
"I took the 09 DAYS WONDERS OF PERU – Machu Picchu- Rainbow Mountain & Titicaca Lake tour with our friends and my husband and I. We worked with Lucero at Waman Adventures. If there was a rating above Excellent I would happily give it. Lucero and everyone on the Waman team were truly exceptional. They were professional, friendly, efficient and if they could think of a way to go ""above and beyone"" they would do it with a smile. Everyone in our group had the best trip ever! I wish I could think of a comment that would give them an opportunity to improve, but they were just so good that I can't. We all fell in love with Peru because of the big hearts of our Waman team. When you travel you hope that the experience lets you have experiences that truly change your heart. I would instantly recommend Tour Radar because of Waman adventures. Many thanks for all your kindness."
What our customers ask about Peru Tours in February 2026
What is the weather like in Peru during February?
Peru's February weather varies dramatically by region. The Andean highlands around Cusco and Machu Picchu experience regular afternoon rain with temperatures between 55-70°F (12-21°C). Most rainfall occurs in late afternoon or evening leaving mornings clear for sightseeing. Lima and the coast maintain warm temperatures of 75-85°F (24-29°C) with high humidity while the Amazon sees its wettest period of the year. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Even though we visited in rainy season it mostly rained in the evenings and didn't spoil our activities."
What are the best activities to do in Peru during February?
Despite the wet season February presents unique opportunities across Peru. The Amazon's high waters make riverboat tours from Iquitos particularly rewarding with vessels like the Amatista offering luxury accommodations. Lima's colonial center comes alive with fewer crowds and the Ballestas Islands host abundant marine life. Hotel Miramar in Miraflores serves as an excellent base for coastal exploration. Many visitors find the varied landscape compelling as one TourRadar reviewer noted: "experiencing the Amazon's lush rainforest and then heading to Cusco's magnificent Inca sites."
What are the best alternative treks to Machu Picchu in February since the Inca Trail is closed?
The Lares Trek and Jungle Trek offer compelling alternatives to the closed Inca Trail. The Jungle Trek combines mountain biking zip-lining and hiking from Cusco through Santa Maria and Santa Teresa. Accommodations like Casa Andina in Cusco provide comfortable bases between adventures. According to TourRadar reviews: "The Jungle Trek was completely incredible with mountain biking rafting and zip-lining. We stayed at comfortable places like Casa Andina in Cusco and had amazing views despite being rainy season."
Are there any special festivals or events in Peru during February?
February marks a vibrant festival season across Peru. Carnival celebrations fill streets nationwide while Cusco's "Compadres" festival brings locals to the main square for traditional dancing. The Virgin of Candelaria Festival in Puno draws more than 40,000 performers making it one of South America's largest cultural gatherings. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The local festivals really enhanced our February visit - the streets were alive with music and traditional costumes."
What are the advantages of visiting Machu Picchu in February?
February visits to Machu Picchu offer distinctive benefits. Visitor numbers drop significantly while the landscape turns a lush green. TreXperience guides point out that morning mist creates unique photo opportunities. Hotels like Tierra Viva in Aguas Calientes allow early access before afternoon rains. As one TourRadar visitor observed: "The morning clouds parting to reveal Machu Picchu was magical."
