What people love about Peru Tours in January
- 7 Day Inca Jungle Adventure To Machu Picchu with Mountain Bike, Rafting, Zip Line and Trek.
Inca Jungle Trek 7D/6N Great Experience My brother and I joined Inkayni Peru for the 7D/6N Group Inca Jungle Trail. It was a great experience! I won't waste your time telling you how amazing the trek and the views are but will focus on Inkayni as a tour operator. It was very easy to check in with Inkayni once you are in Cusco (their office is right by the main square) and I felt that throughout the process, Inkayni Peru was very communicative. Our guide, Percy, was amazing helping us answer any questions as well as playing some inspo music to pump us up before the toughest parts of the trail. The rest of our crew was also amazing: Justin (Second guide), Alcides (Driver) made sure our journey was seamless. This really felt more like a luxury journey than a traditional hike. For someone who has never done more than a day hike before, the team allowed me to only worry about getting myself up the mountain!
- WONDERS OF PERU - 9 DAYS – CUSCO & PUNO
Enjoyed the tour, though some of the activity was challenging, Guido our tour guide was always with us, guiding and always making sure we have everything we needed. The tour to Machu Picchu was the highlight of the tour, Guido did a really good job on telling is the history of the place and the people. Thank you Guido and Waman tours
- 10 Day Andean Highlights "Machu Picchu & Puno" with Local Flights
This was one of the best travel experiences I have had. Percy was a fantastic guide and made sure our trip was all we hoped it would be and more. From Machu Picchu to our homestay, every minute was one I will treasure for the rest of my life.

What are the best hiking trails open in Peru during January?
While the Inca Trail closes in February the Salkantay and Lares treks offer excellent alternatives in January. The paths near Colca Canyon remain open though hikers should pack rain gear. The seasonal rains create bright green landscapes along the trails. Many hikers base themselves at properties like El Mapi by Inkaterra in Aguas Calientes which serves as a comfortable starting point for various treks.
What are the best indoor activities and attractions are recommended for rainy January days?
The rainy season presents perfect opportunities to explore Peru's cultural spaces. Options include workshops in Cusco's San Blas district the extensive Larco Museum collection in Lima or hands-on cooking classes. Arequipa's Santa Catalina Monastery provides covered pathways for exploring colonial architecture. One TourRadar traveler shares "rainy afternoons were perfect for experiencing local museums and enjoying hot chocolate at historic cafes in Cusco's Plaza de Armas."
What is the availability and pricing like for Peru tours in January?
January's shoulder season status means tours typically cost 200-300 USD less than peak periods. Most activities run as scheduled except for the February Inca Trail closure. TourRadar data shows decreased bookings on routes like the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu resulting in smaller groups and better availability at preferred times.
