What people love about Peru Tours in March
- Machu Picchu Adventure
Machu Picchu Adventure was everything I was expecting. Hotel Transfers on time, Hotels were great location, clean and staff very friendly. The small quaint towns of Cusco, Ollantaytambo and Aguas Callientes (Machu Picchu) offered lots of history and fascinating shops. Plenty of Restaurants to taste the local cuisine. As a mature traveler I found the pace of this tour great. Our guide David was very knowledgeable and helpful. Sacred Valley was interesting but of Machu Picchu was the highlight.
- The Inca Journey
Good people, Great guides showing the group incredible places.
- 7 Day Inca Jungle Adventure To Machu Picchu with Mountain Bike, Rafting, Zip Line and Trek.
Inca Jungle Trek 7D/6N Great Experience My brother and I joined Inkayni Peru for the 7D/6N Group Inca Jungle Trail. It was a great experience! I won't waste your time telling you how amazing the trek and the views are but will focus on Inkayni as a tour operator. It was very easy to check in with Inkayni once you are in Cusco (their office is right by the main square) and I felt that throughout the process, Inkayni Peru was very communicative. Our guide, Percy, was amazing helping us answer any questions as well as playing some inspo music to pump us up before the toughest parts of the trail. The rest of our crew was also amazing: Justin (Second guide), Alcides (Driver) made sure our journey was seamless. This really felt more like a luxury journey than a traditional hike. For someone who has never done more than a day hike before, the team allowed me to only worry about getting myself up the mountain!
What our customers ask about Peru Tours in March 2026
What is the weather like in Peru during March?
Peru's weather varies significantly by region during March as the rainy season winds down. Cusco and the Sacred Valley fluctuate between 50-70°F with intermittent rain while Lima's coastal areas stay warm at 75-85°F. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We came in rainy season and made good use of our ponchos and rain gear." The Amazon maintains its characteristic humidity with regular afternoon showers particularly in areas like Tambopata National Reserve.
What are the accommodation options in Peru during March?
From luxury hotels to boutique properties Peru's accommodations suit various preferences and budgets. Cusco features the colonial-style Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel and modern Hilton Garden Inn. The Sacred Valley hosts Casa Andina Private Valle Sagrado while Aguas Calientes offers the convenient El Mapi by Inkaterra near Machu Picchu. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The hotels were very comfortable and well-located especially in Cusco where we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn."
Are there any special festivals or events in Peru during March?
March brings notable cultural celebrations across Peru with the Fiesta de la Vendimia (Wine Harvest Festival) taking center stage in the Ica region near Huacachina oasis. Traditional music and dance performances fill the Sacred Valley with local festivities. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Our guide was very knowledgeable about local festivals and traditions making the cultural experience even more enriching."
How do I handle altitude adjustment in Peru during March?
While March's moderate temperatures help with acclimatization proper altitude adjustment remains essential. Begin your journey in the Sacred Valley at 9514 feet before ascending to Cusco at 11152 feet. Properties like Tierra Viva Cusco provide coca tea and oxygen support when needed. A TourRadar traveler advised: "Take it slow the first few days and drink plenty of coca tea - it really helps with the altitude adjustment."
Are there any special considerations for visiting the Amazon region in March?
The wet season in March creates prime conditions for river exploration and wildlife observation in locations such as Tambopata National Reserve. Upscale accommodations like Paradise Amazon Lodge maintain comfort levels despite high humidity. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The Amazon was lush and full of life in March though you need to be prepared for afternoon showers."
Is March a good time to visit Machu Picchu?
March visitors to Machu Picchu benefit from smaller crowds and verdant landscapes despite occasional rain. The Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel serves as an excellent base during this period. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The misty mornings at Machu Picchu created a mystical atmosphere and the site was less crowded than peak season."
What transportation options are available in Peru during March?
March travelers have access to Peru's complete transportation network including the scenic Vistadome train connecting Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu. The system includes private transfers between cities and domestic flights linking major destinations such as Lima and Cusco. A TourRadar traveler confirmed: "The transportation was well-organized from private transfers to the scenic train ride to Machu Picchu."
