What people love about Peru Tours in August
- Southern Treasures - 8 Days
In order to review this tour I need to split it I to two sections, the cusco and Machu Picchu section, and the puno section. Firstly it's worth mentioning that I booked this as I wanted company and not be on my own, however it turns out no one else had booked on the tour, so I was in fact on my own. However for the first part of the tour this did not detract as I had family staying in cusco I could join in the evenings. Wilfrado my guide was amazing, i cannot praise him highly enough. He was very knowledgable and passionate about the things he said, and it was obvious he was speaking from experience. I always knew what was coming next, where I needed to be and at what time. Unfortunately the second part of my trip to puno felt less well communicated. Wilfrado had told me when to be ready for my pick for the bus from cusco to puno so that was fine. I was then put in a car with two other people who where going to the airport and a driver who didnt speak much English, but managed to learn that I was definitely going to the coach station. Once on the bus I realised I had no idea of anyone would be waiting for me or not. It turned out they were but would have been nice to be informed. I was then dropped at my hotel with no further instructions for the next day. This continued to be the theme in puno, with me having to ring the company to find out what was happening. This is when being alone felt more isolating. Saying this I would still use this company again, I just feel that parts of the communicatkon need improving.
- Machu Picchu Adventure
Never had such an amazing experience especially headed by such knowledgeable, spiritual guide like Chocho. In addition to that, he is a part of this community who grew up in Machu Pichu. Love what Gadventure is doing as far as community involvement and conciousness.
- WONDERS OF PERU - 9 DAYS – CUSCO & PUNO
Waman Adventures went above and beyond even with the situation that arose in the country at the time of our visit. We understand that lots of stuff was out of their control due to the country’s political problems that are and were plaguing it’s tourism sector. Waman team were very very helpful, We want to thank our tour guide of Machu Picchu as Erwin was super knowledgeable and helpful with our tour of the ancient temple city. I would definitely recommend this company for future visits to friends and family, Again they made the inconveniences a lot more bearable and helped us with the issues that arose. Thank you for making this trip unique in spite of the things that happened in Peru.
What our customers ask about Peru Tours in August 2025
What is the weather like in Peru during August?
August brings the most reliable weather to Peru with clear skies and dry conditions. In the Machu Picchu area (2430m) temperatures reach a pleasant 20°C (68°F) during the day. Nights can be cold especially at higher elevations like Soraypampa (3920m) where temperatures often drop to near freezing. One TourRadar traveler noted: "We experienced sweat tears and some tough conditions but the beautiful scenery makes it worth it. Take extra layers for all over the body when camping especially at night!"
How crowded is Machu Picchu in August?
The ancient citadel sees its highest visitor numbers during August when weather conditions are most favorable. Early morning visits starting with the first buses at 5:30 AM help avoid the largest crowds. Staying at accommodations like El Mapi by Inkaterra in Aguas Calientes puts you close to the bus departure point. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "We caught one of the first buses to Machu Picchu to appreciate the magnificent city in the early morning light as the mist dissipates."
What festivals or events happen in Peru during August?
The month brings numerous cultural celebrations across Peru particularly in Cusco during the Santa Rosa de Lima festivities. Visitors can join local celebrations in the Sacred Valley and learn traditional crafts at places like the Ccaccaccollo Community and Women's Weaving Co-op. Hotels such as Casa Andina Sacred Valley and Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba offer easy access to these events. One TourRadar reviewer shared: "The Quechua people taught us so much about community and pachamama (Mother Earth) during our August visit."
What are the best trekking routes in Peru during August?
The dry weather creates excellent hiking conditions on Peru's popular trails. Both the Salkantay Trek and Inca Trail offer clear views of snow-capped peaks including Salkantay (6271m) and Humantay. Trekkers can choose between the standard 4-day Salkantay route with stays at Casa Andina Sacred Valley or opt for the extended 5-day version featuring camping at spots like Llaqtapata with direct views of Machu Picchu.
How far in advance should I book Peru tours for August?
Secure August tours especially those including the Inca Trail 6-8 months ahead as permits are limited. According to a TourRadar guide: "Permits for Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. August is peak season so early booking is essential particularly for popular hotels like Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo."
How much does a Peru trip cost in August?
Peak season pricing applies to August tours. Multi-day trek costs start at 798 USD for Salkantay and reach 1299 USD for the classic Inca Trail. Premium accommodations at properties like Inkaterra or Aranwa command higher rates. A TourRadar traveler noted: "While August prices were higher the perfect weather conditions and amazing views made it worth every penny."
