What people love about Egypt Tours in May
- Best Of Egypt - 5* Cruise
Our Timeless Tours tour of Egypt was like a dream come true. We had the best of guides, and just enjoyed getting to know Egypt, her history, her food, and some of her people. We found our guide flexible and ready to do all possible to ensure a good time for all. Sailing on the Nile was unforgettable! And Egypt stole a piece of my heart!
- 10-Day Ancient Egypt (Grand Egyptian Museum Experience)
We just did the 10 day ancient Egypt package and are now at Cairo airport waiting for our flight back to LA. 1- Egypt is a “must see” especially for mature travelers like us. 2- Egypt is safe and the Egyptians are overwhelmingly protective of the tourists. We were in Giza when the recent bombing occurred to watch the “sound and light show”. After that incident, we saw first hand the extra security, etc. more importantly, the tour guides, drivers etc we met were all genuinely upset. 3- The way “Vacations to go” packaged and managed our tour is the best way to see Egypt. Otherwise, you will lose lots of time dealing with “hustlers”. 4- The VGT team is truly exceptional. Mr Magdy himself picked us up even though we arrived at 2 am. All the tour guides (Ibrahim in Aswan/Luxor, John in Giza & Old Cairo, & Marwa in Alexandria) were knowledgeable. Special kudos to Ibrahim Elmonir for his passionate presentation and energy. Kudos to the drivers (2 Mohammad ‘s, etc), and tour coordinators. 5- Must see tours are: Giza, Old Cairo, air balloon ride, Nubia village, Alexandria, and the stunning temples and tombs There were some minor negatives (eg, Mercure hotel room we got had defective safe and aircon, etc)...but at least the people tried to fix them. And we did not let these minor inconveniences affect our awesome experience. We will certainly tell all our friends and relatives to visit Egypt! Thanks again!
- Cheap Egypt Holiday to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel 11 Days with Sleeping Train Sightseeing & Tour Guided
Excellent intinerary with very knowledgeable guides who looked after us very well - thankyou. Many memorable highlights; Sakkara, Karnak, Valley of Kings, balloon trip (tho' extra we appreciated the opportunity) and we absolutely loved visiting temples at Edfu and Kom Ombo direct from river boat. Pleased that Direct Egypt enabled minor alterations to agenda i.e trip to Nilometer which was great. A couple of concerns: 1. Feel the web site describing the tour is a little ambiguous. It clearly says sleeper train is included in tour. Indeed it is but it was only late on that we realised it was not included in price. 2. We remain a little uncomfortable about the whole tipping scenario. Mixed messages as to what was appropriate etc. Feel this should be included in tour price so as to remove this daily uncertainty.
What our customers ask about Egypt Tours in May 2026
What is the weather like in Egypt during May?
Egypt's temperatures in May reach considerable heights with daytime readings of 95°F (35°C) in southern cities like Luxor and Aswan. Tour operators adapt to these conditions by scheduling site visits in the early morning hours particularly at outdoor locations like the Valley of the Kings. Cruise ships such as Le Fayan 2 see increased activity on their pool decks as travelers seek relief from afternoon heat.
Are there any special events or festivals in Egypt during May?
May brings regular cultural programming aboard Nile cruise ships including MS Nile Symphony and Princess Sarah with evening shows featuring traditional music belly dancing and Sufi performances. Properties arrange visits to Nubian villages near Aswan where travelers can observe local craftwork and participate in cultural activities according to Holiday in Egypt guest feedback.
What is the cost range for activities in Egypt during May?
Current pricing for major attraction entry fees runs about USD 100-125 per person. Popular add-ons include the Abu Simbel excursion at USD 125 and Luxor hot air balloon experiences for USD 100. Dining costs vary from USD 15-30 at upscale establishments like the Steigenberger Hotel while local eateries provide more budget-friendly options.
How crowded are the major tourist sites in May?
Tourist numbers in May remain moderate compared to peak season months. Reviews from MS Nile Symphony passengers note that temple visits scheduled for early morning between 6-7 AM encounter fewer crowds. Popular sites such as the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple become busier as the morning progresses leading tour operators to plan visits strategically.
What are the best things to do in Egypt during May?
The weather creates ideal conditions for Nile cruising between Luxor and Aswan with clear views of riverside temples including Karnak and Philae. Cairo visitors often choose the Steigenberger El Tahrir as their base for morning pyramid tours. The month offers great conditions for Luxor balloon rides and Red Sea swimming in Hurghada with clear visibility and pleasant water temperatures.
