What people love about Costa Rica Tours in November
- Costa Rica Quest
The trip was a blast!!! Lots of activities to choose from for different levels of thrill seekers. Our guide ' Carlos' was amazing good knowledge of nature and quick to respond to the group & indivual requests. Transport was adequate but 'free wifi' was unreliable ( not huge issue for me just saying) 50% of the 4 hotels we stayed in, rooms need to be upgraded. The best was Hotel Mimos in Manuel Antonio. Just keep an open mind and go with the 'PURA VIDA' flow & you will have fun
- Essential Costa Rica - Package with Manuel Antonio National Park
We opted for the standard accommodation and it was great, no complaints at all. The rooms were comfortable, food was great, staff were friendly and helpful and very happy with the location. All the guides we had were fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. Personally, we prefer this kind of tour as it gave us flexibility to have time to ourselves and be independent. The first part of the tour to Tortuguero was with large groups which was unexpected, however we totally understand that the location of this national park made this necessary. Costa Rica is a stunning country, and we felt incredibly fortunate to visit and see some of what it has to offer. We will definitely return!
- Arenal Volcano & Monteverde Cloud Forest Costa Rica, the perfect combination
Overall a great trip. Everything ran smoothly and we LOVED the eco resorts. We had only two issues. -The volcano excursion was listed as a 'gentle walk.' The local guide was clear (and our friend who did that walk agreed) that it was seriously rugged. We stayed around the base and one of the other guides took us bird watching. - The hot springs were terrible. There are lovely eco springs in the area but we were send to Balti which was loud, commercial, and rude.

What is the weather like in Costa Rica during November?
November signals Costa Rica's shift from wet to dry season with regional variations throughout the country. Visitors to Arenal and Monteverde can expect temperatures between 75-85°F with scattered afternoon showers. The Caribbean coastline near Tortuguero maintains its characteristic humidity punctuated by quick rain bursts while Pacific shores begin to dry out. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The weather was amazing even during shoulder season allowing us to fully enjoy activities like hiking in Arenal Volcano National Park and relaxing at Manuel Antonio's beaches."
What unique wildlife can I spot in Costa Rica during November?
Tortuguero National Park offers prime wildlife viewing with more than 350 bird species alongside monkeys sloths and crocodiles. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve home to 2.5% of global biodiversity provides regular sightings of quetzals toucans and howler monkeys. One TourRadar reviewer shared: "We saw countless species in Tortuguero including three different types of monkeys toucans and even baby sea turtles making their way to the ocean."
What are the advantages of visiting Costa Rica in November?
The benefits of a November visit include fewer tourists easier bookings at sought-after properties like Arenal Kioro and Monteverde Country Lodge and lower prices than peak season. Animals are particularly active during this time making wildlife spotting more frequent. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "November was perfect - we got great deals on accommodations and enjoyed many activities without the crowds."
What kind of accommodation options are available in November?
Accommodations range from basic hostels to high-end resorts. Popular choices include the Arenal Kioro or Arenal Springs Resort near the volcano Turtle Beach Lodge in Tortuguero and Hotel Poco a Poco in Monteverde. As one TourRadar reviewer noted: "The accommodations were beautiful from rustic eco-lodges in Tortuguero to upscale resorts in Arenal."
What are the best activities to do in Costa Rica in November?
The month provides ideal conditions for rafting the Pacuare River hiking Arenal Volcano National Park and exploring Monteverde Cloud Forest. Additional options include soaking in hot springs near Arenal Volcano and taking boat tours through Tortuguero's waterways. Hotels like Arenal Manoa offer easy access to both volcano hikes and hot springs according to TourRadar travelers.
Are there any special events or festivals in Costa Rica during November?
Cultural celebrations fill November beginning with Día de los Muertos on November 2nd followed by the vibrant Limon Carnival on the Caribbean coast celebrating Afro-Caribbean heritage. San José hosts local festivals featuring traditional music dance and cuisine. The Park Inn San José often helps visitors arrange transportation to these cultural events.
