- GFGerhard· November 4th, 2025Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishThe support from Tourradar and the local company (TUI) was very poor. One day before the start of the tour we had no information when it starts. The evening before we wrote twice to the chat of the app of Tourradar but got no answer. The other morning at 6:25am we were approached at breakfast and were told that the bus would leave in 5 minutes. We never knew which hotel we were staying in at any of the stops. After three days, we at least received more information after a request via WhatsApp. There were overlaps or no breaks at all on the individual tours, although no time was given at the time of booking. On arrival at Arenal Volcano National Park (2nd stop), the tour to the thermal baths had already started. The hotel porter then phoned the tour guide (TUI) for about 20 minutes and then organized a driver to take us there. The zipline tour was very challenging (12 stations) and it was carried out in pouring rain. I could hardly enjoy the view through my glasses and was soaked to the bone afterwards. In San Antoinio we had a building site right next to our room. After complaining, we were immediately given another room on a different floor. The guides on the individual tours were positive and very helpful. That was it with Tourradar "never again"Show more

Jess· October 22nd, 2025The tour was well organized, and the tour guides were great, I greatly appreciated the strategic placement of your representatives at the terminal. They were a great help with the process of getting through customs, claiming our bags and meeting the bus to the hotel. All hotel accommodations were excellent. Your selection of the Tortuga Lodge was an excellent choice. In fact, the stay there and the river tour and nature hike were the best part of the trip. Your guide there was excellent and quite knowledgeable in the flora and fauna, as well as the history of the nation. The Arenal volcano was impressive and the boat trip across the lake was great scenery. The road from the lake to Monte Verde was rough and quite grueling - a good reminder of what travel there in the country would have been like in the 30's and 40's. The high country there in Monte Verde was a welcome change from the low country we had traveled through in the early part of the trip. The tour of Tortuga Island on the last day was great and relaxing way to end the trip. I have two suggestions that could have improved the experience: (1) When it is necessary for a change of vehicles and tour guides during the trip and the travelers need to wait for a long period of time it would be helpful if you called them to assure them that they had not been abandoned and (2) there were some instances of overemphasis of tipping: the Tortuga Island tour comes to mind. It might be helpful if you reminded the contracted tour guides to tone down this emphasis on tipping. All in all, it was wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone interested in traveling to the area.Show moreTrip date: October 2025

Best regards, Karla Alpízar Destination Services Costa Rica's TeamTrip date: July 2024 - JBJames· March 9th, 2024I really liked the support from Tour Radar, in preparing for the trip. The staff were so helpful and pleasant. I liked the first part of the tour to Pachira Lodge and Tortuguero, plus the last one, Isla Tortuga, where activities and all meals were included. But the it got pretty expensive in La Fortuna and Monte Verde, when only the hotel rooms and breakfasts were included. Without spending hundreds of dollars more on activities, one was stuck in the hotels, far from anywhere walkable. If activities can't be included, at least choose hotels close to the centre or attractions, so walking is possible.Show more

Asked on September 24th, 2025I went ahead and the client booked the Costa Rica highlights package, which does end in Manual Antonio. That is the package that I was looking for the extra night.
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written September 2025Regarding the package you are currently reviewing, please note that Manuel Antonio is not included. If you would like to visit this destination, I recommend looking into the "Essential Costa Rica with Manuel Antonio" package, which does include 2 nights in Manuel Antonio. However, since this is during the end-of-year holiday season, hotels in Manuel Antonio require a minimum stay of 3 nights, so adjustments would need to be made if you choose this option.

Asked on August 11th, 20251) The description indicates that "There is no guarantee that you will be part of a group, or part of the same group during the tour." What does that mean? I'll be a solo traveler, and if I form a friendship with other travelers in the original group, I'd want to stay with them. Is it uncertain that could be managed?

Jay
Traveler•Written August 2025What is meant by "Independent travel, featuring selected guided excursions"? We get to the day's event, and we're told to enjoy ourselves and meet back at a certain time?
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written August 2025While this is a possibility, it is not common. Our goal is to ensure that you enjoy a cohesive experience, and we make every effort to keep groups together, especially when friendships form. However, this can depend on various factors, such as group size and specific tour logistics. As for "Independent travel, featuring selected guided excursions," this means that while you'll have the flexibility to explore destinations independently, certain parts of your itinerary will include guided excursions. During these guided events, you will receive expert insights from guides and have designated free time to explore, after which you would reconvene with the group at a specified time.

Traveler•Written August 2025Is there any way for you to share the profile of people signed up for the January 6th to 15th tour? It's my first time traveling alone, and I'm curious.
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written August 2025We are unable to share personal profiles or details of other travelers signed up for the tour. Many solo travelers find it easy to connect with others during the tour. Our tour guides are skilled in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

Asked on July 4th, 2025We are two passengers, husband and wife, planning a trip in October for approximately 10-15 days. Our goal is to enjoy nature and visit almost all major sites. Could you please provide details about which trip is best for us and inclusions and exclusions in the trip cost, and how it works? Which is the preferred airport?
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written July 2025Based on your preferences and travel dates, one of the programs that could be a great fit for you is the "Essential Costa Rica – 13 Days" itinerary, with an extension to Manuel Antonio. This tour covers many of the country's highlights and offers a good balance of nature, adventure, and relaxation. The program can also be fully customized to better suit your interests. For example, if you want a 15-day program you can: *Add extra nights in Arenal, Monteverde, or Manuel Antonio or *Include a new destination such as San José (for cultural experiences) or Guanacaste (for beautiful beaches and relaxation). The preferred international airport is Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, as it offers the most convenient access to key regions in Costa Rica.

Asked on May 19th, 2025Looking at your Best of Costa Rica your. What time would we have yo arrive at the airport to participate?
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written May 2025There's not a limit time to arrive, as such, you can select the flight of your convenience, just take in consideration that the program starts in San José so it would be reccomendable to arrive at the Juan Santamaria Airport in San Jose.

Traveler•Written April 2025How many hours is the land transfer from ARENAL to MONTEVERDE?
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written April 2025Almost all accommodations include AC and wi-fi except the Tortuguero hotel and some hotels in Monteverde. Tortuguero offers Lodges and normally do not include those amenities and about Monteverde, some hotels do not offer AC because of temperature but they do offer wi-fi.
Destination Services Costa RicaOperator•Written April 2025The duration from Fortuna to Monteverde takes around 3 hours total to get to Monteverde including the approximate 45 minutes on the lake crossing boat.
