My husband and I chose this tour for our anniversary trip because it didn’t seem as rushed as others we were looking at. I was looking for more time to explore Ireland. We ended up with so much more than we were expecting. Sean was a very knowledgeable and fun tour guide. I honestly can’t say enough good about him. He took us to incredibly picturesque and quaint towns that gave us a sense of local’s life in Ireland all while hitting all of the hot touristy spots. He was always available to set up extra things that we wanted to do, from boat tours to dining recommendations. He was very knowledgeable about Ireland’s history and told it in a way to keep me very interested. My husband and I chose to upgrade to the hotel/B&B package because we are in our mid thirties and feel we would enjoy our own private room more. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable with the friendliest people. We always stayed in the heart of the downtown areas so it was easy and safe to explore the city in the evenings on our own. The food was amazing and plentiful. This tour is set up in a way that you don’t spend a lot of time traveling, we had plenty of time to explore everywhere we went. The bus was small, so we were able to go places that the bigger busses weren’t allowed, which gave us the opportunity to see and do more. I would 100% recommend this tour for all ages!

Best tour companies for Ireland tours
If you're looking to join a quality Ireland tour, our travelers consistently give high marks to Wild 'N Happy for several good reasons. Their guides really know their local history and culture, and with smaller groups, you can actually get to know your fellow travelers. They make it a point to take you to authentic spots where you'll meet local people and hear their stories. Overland Ireland is another solid choice that our customers love - they've got some interesting routes that mix well-known sites with hidden local spots, and they use comfortable buses that make the travel time between stops actually enjoyable. For folks who want more choices in terms of budget and style, CIE Tours International has built up a good reputation. They run everything from basic tours that won't break the bank to high-end experiences with all the extras. Their guides are properly trained and know their stuff, and the whole operation runs like clockwork according to our travelers. The key is to look closely at what each day involves and check recent reviews from people who've taken these tours. Different companies have different styles - some focus more on history, others on nature and some on meeting locals. It's worth taking time to match up what you want to see and do with what each tour actually offers.
Best places to start your Ireland tour
Dublin is hands-down the top choice for starting Ireland tours - about 90 of our travelers kick off their trip from here. While you can start from Tralee, Galway, Belfast and also Rathdrum, most people prefer Dublin as their launch point. Looking at our booking patterns, you'll want to lock in your dates around 4.5 months ahead (that's 131 days) to get the dates you want, especially during busy seasons. A lot of our guests like spending time at Trinity College and the Guinness Storehouse before heading west to explore the Wild Atlantic Way. Starting in Dublin makes sense - it's where you'll get your first taste of Irish culture, from the rich literary scene to traditional music spots and that famous Irish welcome that sets up the rest of your journey perfectly.

Best time to visit Ireland
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter visitors to Ireland discover unique charms on our 3-7 day tours focused on the western regions. The Wild Ireland Express takes small groups off-the-beaten-path to places like Glendalough's ancient monastery sites and the dramatic Cliffs of Moher. Our travelers particularly value having fewer crowds at major sites during this season. Multi-day tours blend active experiences with cozy evenings - you might spend your morning hiking Torc Waterfall in Killarney National Park, then warm up in a traditional pub where locals share stories over hot whiskeys. What makes these winter tours special is their flexibility; guides can adapt routes based on weather while ensuring you experience highlights like the Dingle Peninsula's ancient beehive huts and also the Rock of Cashel's medieval architecture.

- Spring 2026
Ireland really comes into its own in spring with tours running 6-10 days - perfect timing to catch the mild weather and first wildflowers. We keep groups small at 8-12 people, which lets us combine big views along the Ring of Kerry with quiet moments in hidden spots like Valentia Island. The mornings are magical for kayaking Killarney's lakes as mist rises off the water, and you'll love walking the Burren when tiny flowers pop up between the limestone. These longer trips have some nice extras too - you'll get hands-on with traditional scone-making at a family farm, watch skilled border collies working the sheep on Dingle Peninsula and also explore Muckross Abbey right when its gardens put on their best spring show.

Summer's long days are perfect for packing more into our 5-8 day Ireland tours. You'll get the full outdoor experience - cycling through Killarney National Park in the morning sun, paddling with dolphins in Dingle Bay or walking the quieter paths along the Cliffs of Moher. Our customers love how the days flow from active to cultural; you might start at the Rock of Cashel then end up trading stories with locals at a Doolin pub music session. The summer weather lets us reach some really special places too - we can boat out to the Skellig Islands or head to Mizen Head where the Atlantic creates perfect conditions for outdoor activities.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn tours run 6-8 days and catch Ireland right as it turns golden, mixing harvest traditions with classic sites when the crowds thin out. Groups stay small at 8-16 people, which works perfectly for combining Ring of Kerry hikes with real Irish culture. You might join in a proper music session in Killarney, learn the ins and outs of whiskey-making at old distilleries and also explore the Burren as its unique landscape shifts to fall colors. Our guides really shine in autumn, working seasonal activities into each trip - from local harvest festivals to evenings in historic pubs where traditional music fills the cooling air.

What Kind of Local Irish Experiences Can You Join In On?
You'll find traditional Irish music sessions happening in pubs all over but Galway and Doolin are really where it's at for the authentic experience. Want to practice some Gaelic? Head to the Aran Islands where it's still spoken daily or try something hands-on like baking scones and learning about sheep herding at Rathbaun Farm near Galway. Our 7-Day Great Atlantic Adventure Small Group Tour lets you experience all this firsthand and the locals love sharing their language and traditions with visitors.
Where Are Ireland's Best Natural Spots and How Do You Get to Them?
Once you get outside Dublin there's so much to explore. Killarney National Park Ireland's very first national park is absolutely stunning and you can get there easily by car or join a guided tour. Connemara National Park's got these incredible rugged mountains and peaceful lakes and it's simple to reach from Galway. The Cliffs of Moher are a must-see and you can drive there yourself or take an organized tour. Lots of people love cycling through these areas too. Both Killarney National Park and the Cliffs of Moher are highlights on our 7-Day Great Atlantic and 5-Day Spectacular South and West tours.
What's the Best Way to Get Around Ireland and How Often Do Things Run?
You've got several good options here. Luxury coaches are great for organized tours they're comfortable and make it easy to see lots of places. If you want more freedom rental cars are perfect but remember you'll need to get used to driving on the left. Public transport connects all the major spots buses and trains run regular services between cities and towns.
