7 Days in Ireland, incl. Dublin and Galway
The 1,100 km Irish coastal route encompasses 16 destinations including Kinsale, Dingle, Galway, and Cliffs of Moher. Highlights include kayaking Dingle Bay, cycling Killarney National Park, and hiking Croagh Patrick, with nights in local guesthouses.
- Day 1
Dublin to Cork and Kinsale
Leave Dublin around 8:00 AM to avoid traffic and drive south to the Rock of Cashel. As one traveler shared: "The 1000-year-old Rock of Cashel was an open-mouthed moment and a historic way to begin the tour." Visit Blarney Castle next to kiss the famous stone. End your day in Kinsale where you can walk the narrow streets and enjoy fresh seafood at the harbor restaurants.
- Day 2
Killarney National Park and Dingle
Get to Killarney National Park by 9:30 AM for cycling. A visitor noted: "The bike ride through Killarney National Park needs at least 2.5 hours to properly see Muckross House, Torc Waterfall, and still have time for photos." Drive to Dingle in the afternoon through Ladies View and Moll's Gap. Book your dinner ahead in Dingle Town as restaurants get busy especially during summer.
- Day 3
Dingle Peninsula
Start with morning kayaking in Dingle Bay if weather allows or go for a coastal hike. Drive around Slea Head later to see ancient beehive huts and film locations. A traveler tips: "Bring waterproof gear for kayaking - the wetsuits provided help but you'll want dry clothes after." Spend your evening enjoying traditional music in Dingle's pubs like Dick Mack's.
- Day 4
Cliffs of Moher
Take the Shannon ferry (runs every 30 minutes) to the Cliffs of Moher. Plan on 2-3 hours for cliff trail hiking. A visitor suggests: "Go early to O'Brien's Tower viewpoint before tour buses arrive, then walk south along the cliffs for better photos and fewer crowds." Stay overnight in Doolin for traditional music or head to the scenic Spanish Point area.
- Day 5
The Burren to Galway
Drive through the unique Burren landscape in the morning and stop at Dunguaire Castle. Arrive in Galway for afternoon exploring. Start with a walking tour before wandering on your own. A reviewer suggests: "Have dinner in the West End for better prices and more locals than the touristy Latin Quarter."
- Day 6
Aran Islands
Book an early ferry from Rossaveel to Inishmore. Rent bikes to explore the island. E-bikes work best for reaching Dún Aonghasa fort. A traveler notes: "The e-bikes made a huge difference on the island's hills and let us see much more in our limited time." Head to Westport for the night, one of Ireland's most popular towns.
- Day 7
Westport and Croagh Patrick
Choose between climbing Croagh Patrick mountain in the morning (4 hours total) or visiting Westport House and Gardens. A hiker advises: "Start Croagh Patrick early as afternoon clouds often roll in. The descent is trickier than the ascent due to loose scree." The drive back to Dublin takes about 3.5 hours. Plan to arrive between 5-7 PM.
7 Day Ireland Itinerary, incl. Dublin and Killarney
An engaging 346km route through 11 Irish cities showcases Dublin's Trinity College, UNESCO Cliffs of Moher, Ring of Kerry, and Waterford Crystal. Package includes 6 breakfasts, 3 dinners, luxury coach transport, and stays at quality hotels like Clayton Ballsbridge.
- Day 1
Dublin Orientation
Arrive in Dublin mid-afternoon and explore the walkable city center. Visit the must-see Trinity College and St. Patrick's Cathedral. One traveler shared: "Our local guide's knowledge of Dublin's Georgian squares and history really brought the city to life." For dinner, skip the tourist spots in Temple Bar and check out the side streets where you'll find better prices and a more local feel.
- Day 2
Dublin to Limerick via Galway
Take a morning drive west to Galway (2.5 hours by coach). Walk through the stone cathedral and lively Latin Quarter before moving on to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. The park shows what Irish life was like in the 18th and 19th centuries. Your day ends in Limerick with views of King John's Castle from the 13th century. A recent visitor noted: "The Folk Park at Bunratty was incredible - seeing the traditional cottages and learning about daily life really helped us understand Ireland's history."
- Day 3
Cliffs of Moher and Killarney
Get an early start to see the Cliffs of Moher before the crowds arrive. Set aside 2 hours minimum. One traveler suggested: "An hour and a half isn't enough to properly explore. Arrive early and head to the furthest viewpoint first." Take the Shannon Estuary ferry to Killarney afterward for beautiful views of the Kerry mountains.
- Day 4
Ring of Kerry
Spend the full day on the Ring of Kerry's 179km loop. Start early to avoid tour buses. Stop at Ladies View, Moll's Gap and the Black Valley. Consider visiting Muckross House too. "The gardens were spectacular, especially alongside the lakes," one reviewer said. Pack some warm clothes the weather changes quickly here.
- Day 5
Blarney to Waterford
- Day 6

What people love about 7-day Ireland tours
- 7-Day Great Atlantic Adventure Small Group Tour
We had a brilliant trip, would highly recommend it. We really enjoyed surfing in Dingle, meeting Fungi the dolphin and all the great bars around DIngle. We're already planning a return trip!
- Irish Highlights (Winter)
A great experience overall. Our group was amazing! I felt the pace of the trip was perfect. We saw a lot, but I felt like I still had time to explore some on my own and didn't feel rushed during any of our stops.
- 7-Day Ireland to Island Small Group Tour of Ireland
This was my first guided tour and I was surprised how much I liked it. Our Overland Ireland tour guide, Marie, made sure we had the best time. She was really chatty, her knowledge was impeccable and our other passengers were great as well. Although we covered a good distance each day, the tour never felt rushed. There was always something to do or to see. Highlight was for me was the boat trip to the Skelligs. I picked this tour because it was the only tour that actually lets you go on the Island. Climbing all the way to the top was one of the greatest things I have ever experienced. The share history of the place, the nature, I did see some puffins as well. My accommodation was above expectation. They did a great job with the small hotels and guesthouses. The cycle tour in Killarney, the food tour in Galway are all things you would not see on other tours. And the fact that they were included made sure that everyone got to enjoy it. All in all a great tour with the only negative was the two afternoons of rain but then you don’t book Ireland for the weather. Thanks again Overland Ireland for a world class tour.
