What people love about Budget Tours in Ireland
- Irish Discovery
The tour guide Liz & driver made the trip amazing. I travelled as a single person & had to tolerate a horrible American woman who pushed me from my seat & poked me when she wanted to complain about a fellow travellors. I will never join a tour again as a single person.
- Wild Grande - Multi Day - Small Group Tour of Ireland
I highly recommend the Wild Grande tour with Wild 'n Happy. I wanted a small group tour and I specifically chose a touring company based in Ireland because I thought they could provide local knowledge and perspective. I was not wrong! Andy, John and Diarmid drove us on different parts of the tour and shared their knowledge of the history, geography, geology and general information in great detail. Their driving skills on the very narrow lanes between hedgerows was incredibly skillful. I would hate to drive in those circumstances! They were never late and always communicated clearly where, when to meet etc. They are, without exception, a credit to the company and made the tour the success it was and I always felt safe when travelling. We stayed in a selection of large hotels in some cities and smaller bed and breakfast type accommodation. The accommodation in the larger cities wasn't central but the view from the hotel in Cork made up for the hike up the hill. Taxis are available but I chose to walk. Doolin was my favourite place and the breakfasts were amazing. Being a single female traveller of a certain age, I prefer to stay in places closer to town centres, especially when having to walk home alone and late at night in rain. One suggestion I would like to make is to send a summary post-tour of the places we saw and what we learned as it's a bit jumbled after the tour. There was so much information! Other companies that I toured with have done this and it helps to keep the memories alive. Another would be to end the tour after breakfast of the day after the last tour (as this seems to be a fairly common practice). In summary, I want to thank the whole team for a great trip. I've definitely left a bit of my heart in Ireland.
- The Celtic Voyage - Multi-Day - Small Group Tour of Ireland
Had a great time. Thanks to Michael for taking us to my grandmother's home town.
What our customers ask about Budget Tours to Ireland
When is the most affordable time to visit Ireland on a budget tour?
Visit Ireland in March-April or October-November to find the best deals. During these months prices drop 20-30% compared to peak summer season. The Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula are less busy and hotels like the Killarney Court offer lower rates. The weather stays relatively mild and most attractions remain open. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "We went in March and though the weather was messy we still had a great time and saved significantly on costs."
What are the best budget-friendly areas to visit in Ireland?
County Wicklow and the Dingle Peninsula stand out as wallet-friendly destinations. Wicklow's national park has free hiking trails and access to Glendalough's monastery ruins. The Dingle area features smaller towns like Annascaul and Tralee where food and lodging cost less than major cities. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The Dingle Way offered incredible value - beautiful coastal views historic sites and affordable local pubs and B&Bs made it perfect for budget travelers."
What type of accommodation can I expect on budget tours in Ireland?
Budget tours use a mix of B&Bs guesthouses and 3-star hotels. In Dublin you might stay at Point A Hotel Parnell Street while Killarney Court Hotel serves as a common base in Kerry. The rooms come with private bathrooms and WiFi. As noted by a TourRadar traveler on their Wild N' Happy tour: "The accommodations were lovely though some hotels were not centrally located the views made up for the location." Most places include breakfast and sit within walking distance to town centers.
Are entrance fees to major attractions included in budget tour prices?
Most tours cover entry to key sites like the Cliffs of Moher Rock of Cashel and Blarney Castle. The Celtic Voyage tour for instance includes access to Killarney National Park and the Giant's Causeway. A TourRadar traveler confirmed: "The tour covered all the main attractions without any hidden costs for entrances." Extra activities like Belfast's Black Taxi Tour or Skellig Islands boats cost about 30-50 USD each.
How much should I budget for meals not included in the tour price?
Plan for 40-60 USD daily for meals outside the tour package. While places like Killarney Court Hotel and Twin Peaks B&B include breakfast lunch and dinner are separate. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Food costs were reasonable - many towns had good pub meals for around $15-20." Cities like Galway and Killarney offer plenty of options between 10-25 USD per meal.
How much should I budget for daily transportation costs in Ireland?
Set aside 15-25 USD per day for extra transport needs. Tours handle main transfers but local buses between places like Dingle and Tralee run 8-12 USD. Short taxi rides in smaller towns like Roundwood or Glendalough cost about 15 USD. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "Local transport was reasonably priced especially when sharing costs with other travelers on the Wicklow Way tour."
