What people love about Scotland Tours for Couples
- A Scottish Journey
The tour guide, Ed, and the driver, Abby, were amazing hosts to all of us. They did a great job helping us through the hotel changes as well as walking us through the history of each location we visited. The choice of hotel in Tobermory could have been a bit better, while they had beautiful views we could not take a shower in the room as the shower head was not connected to the water. Also, the beds were overused and we could feel the springs in our backs. All other locations were perfect. Thank you.
- Isle Of Skye And The Highlands
Caitlyn is such a sweet gal. We loved Portree, dancing, all the stories & music. The battlefield history was very moving from her point of view.
- Bonnie Scotland
Guide Ian and driver Davy made this the best tour ever. Even with physical limitations, my niece and I were made to feel special and afforded every opportunity to see and experience everything the rest of the tour group did. I only wish I could have stayed longer
What our customers ask about Romantic Scotland Trips & Honeymoon Packages
What are the most romantic locations for couples to visit in Scotland?
The Isle of Skye is a favorite spot for couples with its misty mountains and peaceful coastline. You can walk hand in hand through Edinburgh's Royal Mile in the evening, when the medieval streets glow with old-world charm. Loch Lomond's quiet shores are perfect for private picnics and lake views. Many couples love staying at Dalhousie Castle Hotel near Edinburgh - one TourRadar traveler called it "romantic medieval atmosphere perfect for couples." If you head to the Highlands, you'll find cozy spots around Inverness, and the Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry is special with its gardens and old-world feel.
What's the best time of year for couples to visit Scotland?
The nicest weather is from May through September, when temperatures stay between 60-70°F (15-21°C). May is really pretty in the Highlands when purple heather covers the hills. If you're interested in festivals, come in August for Edinburgh's Festival and Military Tattoo. One TourRadar traveler told us, "We visited in June and had perfect weather for romantic evening walks through Edinburgh's Old Town." Winter can be romantic too, from November to February, with nights by the pub fire and snow in the Highlands, though it gets cold at 30-40°F (-1 to 4°C).
What unique dining experiences are available for couples in Scotland?
You'll find lots of special dinner spots in Scotland. You can have a candlelit meal in Edinburgh's Old Town or try private whisky tastings at Blair Athol Distillery. Many tours set up traditional Scottish evenings with private dining and local entertainment. The National Piping Centre in Glasgow does really nice farm-fresh meals, and over on the Isle of Skye, you can find quiet seafood restaurants right by the water. One TourRadar traveler mentioned that "The private dinner at Edinburgh Castle followed by the Military Tattoo was an unforgettable romantic experience."
What's the typical budget needed for a couple's trip to Scotland?
Plan on spending about $400-600 per day for two people, which covers your hotel, meals, and things to do. If you want to stay in castles, that might go up to $800-1000 daily. If you're looking at tour packages, most 7-10 day trips cost between $2,800-5,500 for two people. The Scottish Dream tour, for example, costs around $3,495 per person. A TourRadar reviewer mentioned that "While not cheap, the romantic castle stays and private experiences were worth every penny for our special trip."
Are there good photography opportunities for couples?
You'll find perfect photo spots all over Scotland. Edinburgh Castle looks amazing at sunset, and the Isle of Skye has beautiful misty landscapes. Eilean Donan Castle is probably one of the most photographed spots in the country. The Quiraing on Skye and Glencoe valley are great for dramatic nature shots. Don't miss the Glenfinnan Viaduct (the train bridge from Harry Potter) and Loch Lomond's peaceful waters. One TourRadar couple mentioned that "The ancient castles and Highland landscapes created perfect settings for romantic photos, especially at Dunrobin Castle's gardens."
