Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Stornoway
You'll leave Edinburgh in the early morning and head north through the Scottish Highlands, driving past the Forth Rail Bridge. The route takes you through Dunkeld where you can stop to see the cathedral, then continues into the Grampian Mountains with a lunch break planned in Aviemore. After that, you'll check out Rogie Falls and Corrieshalloch Gorge before arriving in Ullapool for a 2.5-hour ferry ride through the Summer Isles to reach Stornoway.

- Day 2
Stornoway and Lewis Island
Following breakfast, you'll travel to the Butt of Lewis, the UK's northernmost point and known for being quite windy. Then you'll walk through traditional crofting towns and ports, spending time along the shores at Port of Ness, and visiting Arnol Blackhouse to see how people farmed traditionally. After lunch back in Stornoway, you'll explore the west side of Lewis including Uig Bay before settling in for the night.

Harris Island Exploration
This day takes you into Harris to see dramatic peaks and white-sand beaches like Luskentyre. You'll find out about the area's history and its connection to Harris Tweed production. In the morning you'll explore the landscape, then break for lunch with the option of a beach picnic if weather allows. By late afternoon you'll head back to Stornoway.

Stornoway to Inverness
Start by visiting Dun Carloway fort, originally built around 100AD with plenty of history to explore. From there, you'll return to Stornoway to catch the ferry back to the mainland, then drive straight to Inverness, which serves as the capital of the Highlands.

Inverness to Edinburgh
You'll follow the scenic shores of Loch Ness heading toward Tominoul, the Highlands' highest village with charming 18th-century buildings to see. The route continues into Royal Deeside through the River Dee valley to Braemar in Cairngorms National Park where you'll have lunch. On the way back south through Highland Perthshire, you'll cross Scotland's highest mountain pass and visit Scone Palace to see the historic Coronation Stone and its gardens before returning to Edinburgh.
