What people love about Europe Tours in September
- Semi-Private Balkans Tour; From Athens to Sarajevo or Belgrade
We loved and enjoyed our tour from Athens to Belgrade with Choose Balkans and Alfred (Alfie) as our tour guide and driver. We have been to 130 countries to date and Alfred is in our top 3 best tour guide list. He is excellent. The itinerary was well thought of, with all the highlights of each destination visited. Alfred provided us with the historical background of each attraction. Having a small group is absolutely a plus. There were 7 of us in an 8 passenger van. We communicated through social media when we were not in the van so a regional or global sim is advisable but not a must because all the hotels had free wifi. Since it was a small group, the guide had ample time to entertain our questions such as currency used and accepted and good places to eat. I recommend Choose Balkans and hopefully, we can do more tours with them someday. Faleminderit!
- Small Group Tour: 7 Balkan Countries from Athens to Dubrovnik or Split
This tour exceeded our expectations. The history of these countries is very interesting. The cities and towns we visited were fascinating. The scenery of mountains, lakes and coast was beautiful. We saw wonderful churches, mosques, monasteries, bazaars, castles, forts and walled cities. Our guide Sokol was great fun to be with. Before booking this trip, we had lots of questions, which were answered by Sirma from the CHOOSE BALKANS team promptly and with the information we had requested. As tourism is increasing in these countries, visiting at this point in time was magical. The use of local hotels was nice. This was a special trip that we highly recommend, and will stay in our minds for a long time.
- Genuine Europe
Very good trip. The guides and the company did a good job with the ever changing COVID restrictions.
What our customers ask about Europe Tours in September 2025
What are some unique festivals and events happening in Europe during September?
Europe's cultural calendar reaches a peak in September with events drawing visitors from around the world. Munich transforms for Oktoberfest's opening weeks while the Venice Film Festival brings cinema's elite to the floating city. The wine regions come alive with harvest celebrations from France's Beaune to Germany's Rhine Valley. In the Balkans Serbian crowds gather for Belgrade's Grape Harvest Festival and Thessaloniki hosts its International Fair. Hotels like the Art Tirana and Royal Inn Belgrade offer convenient bases for festival-goers looking to experience these cultural celebrations.
What kind of weather can I expect across Europe in September?
September brings gentle transitions across Europe as summer heat gives way to autumn comfort. Rome sees daily temperatures of 22-25°C (72-77°F) while Paris settles into pleasant 18-22°C (64-72°F). In the Swiss Alps near Interlaken temperatures cool to 15-20°C (59-68°F) creating ideal hiking conditions. Recent travelers report "September was the perfect time to visit - not too hot for walking tours in Rome and pleasant evenings in Paris." Properties like Scotland's Hotel Arrochar offer cozy autumn retreats while the Royal Inn Belgrade lets guests enjoy the lasting warmth of the Balkans.
What special landscape photography opportunities are available in September?
September light creates exceptional conditions for photographers across Europe. Early autumn colors paint the Scottish Highlands near Glencoe golden brown. Morning mists add drama to Ireland's Cliffs of Moher while Venice's canals reflect the softer seasonal light. The Swiss Alps near Interlaken offer sharp mountain views against clear skies. As one traveler noted "The September light in Paris was perfect for photography especially during our Eiffel Tower picnic evening." Popular photo spots include Northern Ireland's Giant's Causeway and the monasteries of Meteora in Greece.
What are the best outdoor activities available in September?
The mild September climate creates prime conditions for outdoor exploration. Hikers find clear trails in the Swiss Alps around Interlaken while kayakers paddle Montenegro's Bay of Kotor. Cyclists enjoy Amsterdam's countryside routes and walking tours move at a comfortable pace through Prague's historic streets. The weather suits traditional activities like punting in Cambridge or exploring Ireland's Ring of Kerry. Travelers report "September was perfect for outdoor activities - we could hike in Switzerland without the summer crowds and still had warm enough weather for evening walks in Paris."
How much money should I budget for a September trip to Europe?
A September European journey typically requires USD 250-300 daily for standard expenses. Tour packages like G Adventures' Paris to Budapest route cost around USD 3749 for a 15-day experience. Budget extra for activities (USD 20-100 per activity) meals (USD 30-50 daily) and local transport. Travelers note "September prices were lower than peak summer but still plan around USD 100 per day for extras beyond the tour cost."
What are the best day trips available in September?
September's mild weather creates perfect conditions for regional exploration. Popular day trips include visits to Mostar from Dubrovnik excursions to Romania's Sinaia from Bucharest and trips to Monaco from Nice. Irish travelers often venture to the Cliffs of Moher from Galway or Blarney Castle from Cork. According to recent visitors "September was ideal for our day trip to Versailles - the gardens were still beautiful and the crowds were manageable."
