I booked this Tour a week before leaving Sydney. The booking process and selection of options- single supplement and star-rating of hotels- was easy and well supported. I travelled alone and chose to hav e a room to myself and 3-star accommodation. I was assisted once the booking was made around what I'd need and how to go about obtaining a visa. I was then contacted by Chris , who told me he would be my contact while in Vietnam and would co-ordinate the tour for me. The entire process was seamless. I would often have individual tours or connect with others on tours and follow my own tour schedule. I enjoyed meeting others doing their own travel and not being with any single group for the stay. At every point I was met by a driver and transferred to and from airports, hotels and tours. Transports were safe, efficient and comfortable and it was great to have someone meet me on arrival and take me to each flight. I was contacted by drivers and tour operators and kept informed of pick-up times and what was happening next. Food was great and cheap, and I had no problems eating from street vendors or small restaurants, which were far better food and way better value than larger hotel restaurants. This is an outstanding tour and extremely good value. The tour's highlight and greatest asset was Chris, who made himself available 24-hours a day and offered every assistance and resolved any difficulties or concerns. Thank you, Chris Amazing experience!

What an amazing holiday! This truly is the way to see a new country, with experienced guides who are so proud of their beautiful country and so willing to share of themselves and their way of life. All our guides (Lam in Ho Chi Minh City, Minh in Hoi An and Duc in Ha Noi) spoke excellent English, and made the trips so much fun. Learning about another culture in such a short time is difficult but they made this easy. The tour was very well organised, from the moment we arrived in HCMC to the day we finished the tour. Accommodation was excellent, food was magnificent and they were able to cater for seafood allergies easily. I will definitely use this service again and highly recommend this for anyone travelling to Vietnam or nearby countries (Laos and Cambodia).

Best tour companies for Vietnam tours
One Life Adventures stands out among Vietnam tour operators - our travelers particularly love how they balance structured itineraries with authentic local experiences. Their guides know the hidden spots and cultural nuances that make Vietnam tick, plus you'll stay in comfortable hotels that don't feel too touristy. If you're watching your budget and want to meet other travelers, Intro Travel is worth checking out. They attract quite a few solo travelers and younger groups, offering solid value without cutting corners on the experience. The social vibe makes it easy to connect with others while exploring Vietnam. We've had consistently good feedback about Legend Travel, Hoi An Express and also S Viet Travel. These companies nail the essentials - they're reliable with schedules, employ guides who really understand Vietnam's history and culture, and respond quickly when travelers need help. Their tours hit all the key spots while maintaining enough flexibility to feel natural rather than rushed. What sets these operators apart is their attention to detail - from seamless airport pickups to thoughtfully planned daily activities. The guides go beyond basic facts to share personal stories and local perspectives that help you understand Vietnam on a deeper level.
Best places to start your Vietnam tour
Our data shows Hanoi is the top choice for starting tours - 67 travelers began there recently, while 28 kicked off from Ho Chi Minh City. Da Nang and Hoi An aren't as common for tour starts but they're packed with great experiences. Most of our customers book about 3.5 months ahead, which works well for getting good options while making sure spots are still open in peak season. They love diving into the local coffee scene, visiting traditional craft workshops and connecting with families through homestays. Some of our most memorable feedback comes from travelers who've explored organic farming communities and spent time with local families away from tourist spots. For photos, you can't beat Sapa's morning markets and misty mountain scenes - they really capture Vietnam's old-world charm.

Best time to visit Vietnam
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in Vietnam brings mild temperatures that make cultural exploration really comfortable. When you join our Hanoi tours, you'll wander through ancient pagodas before heading out to Ha Long Bay for overnight cruises - there's nothing quite like waking up to those misty morning views. We've found a great mix between active and cultural experiences: you'll cycle through peaceful Mai Chau villages and then learn local recipes in family homes along Hue's Perfume River. The Cu Chi Tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City are much more comfortable to explore in cooler weather, and our evening food walks through Hanoi's Old Quarter just hit different this time of year. If you're into photography, the morning light in northern Vietnam creates amazing shots - imagine the steam from hot noodle bowls rising against the colonial buildings.

The landscapes really come alive during Vietnam's spring months, and we've designed our routes to make the most of it. Starting from Hanoi, you'll get out on Ha Long Bay's emerald waters in kayaks and trek through Pu Luong National Park when the valleys are in full bloom. Our travelers keep telling us how much they love cycling around Hoi An, where the routes take you past rice fields bursting with flowers and onto small organic farms. You'll get properly immersed in local life - one day you're learning how to make traditional lanterns, the next you're cooking with a local family. The highlight for many is staying overnight in traditional stilt houses, where families often share their seasonal celebrations and craft-making with visitors.

Fall in Vietnam means harvest season, and it's especially beautiful up north. We've got routes that pair Sapa's terraced hills with overnight trains, which really helps make the most of your time. The weather's just right for getting active - you'll find yourself trekking mountain trails, exploring limestone caves by kayak and cycling quiet back roads. Down in the Mekong Delta, our travelers really enjoy getting into the local scene at floating markets and trying out traditional fishing methods. It's also prime time for food lovers; you'll pick up family recipes in Hue, dig into street food around Hanoi's Old Quarter and also join cooking sessions in centuries-old family homes.

When's the best time to visit Vietnam for great weather across the country?
You'll find the nicest weather in spring around March-April and autumn September-October that's when most of Vietnam has perfect temperatures and hardly any rain. Up north it's really pleasant at 20-25°C in spring and you get these beautiful clear autumn days perfect for cruising Halong Bay or hiking in Sapa. The middle part like Hoi An and Hue has sunny days that are great for checking out old temples and beaches especially An Bang. Down south stays pretty warm all year between 25-35°C but these seasons are less humid with clearer skies perfect for exploring the Mekong Delta.
What kind of local cultural experiences can you actually join in Vietnam?
There's so many ways to dive into real Vietnamese life you can learn da cao which is like foot badminton with locals in Ho Chi Minh City's Le Van Tam Park or cook imperial Hue dishes like bun bo Hue at this amazing historic place called Y Thao Garden House. In Hoi An's Tan An area you can make traditional lanterns and if you're early enough join the locals doing Tai Chi by Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi. Up in Mai Chau you can even try your hand at rice farming with Thai villagers. For something more spiritual head to morning prayers at Tran Quoc Pagoda or learn proper Vietnamese tea ceremonies right in Hanoi's Old Quarter.
What natural areas can you visit outside the cities and how do you get there?
Vietnam's got these incredible landscapes starting with UNESCO-listed Halong Bay you can cruise there from Hanoi. Pu Luong Nature Reserve is amazing with its limestone mountains and Thai villages get there by bus or car from Hanoi. Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has the world's biggest caves reach it from Dong Hoi and Cat Tien National Park is great for wildlife you can bus there from Ho Chi Minh City. Getting around's pretty easy with VIP sleeper buses overnight trains like the Reunification Express domestic flights or hiring local drivers who know all the mountain routes.
Which places in Vietnam are really special but don't get too many tourists?
There's these amazing hidden spots like Mai Chau valley just 3 hours from Hanoi with beautiful stilt houses and rice terraces. Ninh Binh's Tam Coc is like an inland version of Halong Bay with limestone cliffs and ancient temples. Ba Be National Park has Vietnam's biggest natural lake and these interesting Tay villages while Con Dao Islands mix pristine beaches with historic sites. Ha Giang's got these incredible mountain roads and unique Hmong culture and Kon Tum lets you experience real Central Highlands ethnic minority life.
What are the must-try local dishes and where should you eat them?
Every region's got its specialties in Hanoi you've got to try pho especially at Pho Gia Truyen in the Old Quarter and bun cha at Bun Cha Huong Lien that's the place Anthony Bourdain made famous. Hue's known for banh khoai these amazing savory pancakes at Dong Ba Market while Hoi An has cao lau these special noodles they only make with local well water best at Morning Glory restaurant. Down in Saigon don't miss com tam broken rice with grilled pork at Com Tam Ba Ghien. Street food tours are really the way to go in each city and if you hit the morning markets you'll get the freshest stuff.
