10 Day Vietnam Itinerary, incl. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi
This 10-day route spans 8 major cities across Vietnam, showcasing UNESCO site My Son Sanctuary and overnight Ha Long Bay cruise. Package includes 9 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 1 dinner, with stays at Sen Viet Hotel and Hoi An Village Villa plus internal flights.
- Days 1-2
Ho Chi Minh City & Mekong Delta
Begin your journey in Ho Chi Minh City before exploring the Mekong Delta. Plan your Mekong tour for early morning to avoid crowds and heat. "The paddle-boat ride through narrow canals gave us an authentic glimpse into local cottage industries – watching families make coconut candy was fascinating." The Cu Chi Tunnels make a good afternoon activity on day 2. Bring sturdy walking shoes for the uneven ground.
- Days 3-5
Hoi An & Da Nang
Fly to Da Nang (1.5 hours) in the morning. Take some time to see Da Nang's Dragon Bridge area before heading to Hoi An. The morning market in Hoi An is best before the crowds arrive. "The bicycle foodie tour through Tra Que village was a highlight – our guide taught us to make white rose dumplings with a local family." Most visitors prefer staying in Hoi An since the historic district is especially beautiful at night.
- Day 6
My Son Sanctuary
Start your My Son visit early to beat the heat. "Bring an umbrella for sun protection – there's minimal shade among the ruins. The site gets slippery after rain, so wear shoes with good grip." Spend your afternoon back in Hoi An at a cooking class or shopping. The city is known for custom tailoring but be clear about your fit preferences.
- Days 7-8
Hanoi
- Days 9-10
Ha Long Bay
Start the 4-hour drive to Ha Long Bay early. "Request a cabin midship on a higher deck for better views and stability. The kayaking excursion through limestone caves was a trip highlight, but book early as spots fill up." While cruise routes are similar, morning activities like tai chi vary by boat. Return to Hanoi on day 10 for your departure.
10 Days in Vietnam, incl. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
The comprehensive 10-day Vietnam tour visits 9 destinations across 1,760km. Route highlights include Temple of Literature, overnight Paradise Sails cruise in Halong Bay, UNESCO-listed My Son Sanctuary, and Cu Chi Tunnels. Includes 9 breakfasts, 6 lunches, and 4-star hotels.
- Days 1-2
Hanoi
Begin your Vietnam journey in the capital city. "Get to the Temple of Literature early - the morning light makes for amazing photos and it's less crowded before 9am." Visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed Mondays/Fridays), the ethnology museum and Hoan Kiem Lake. Book a hotel in the Old Quarter so you can easily walk to street food spots and night markets.
- Days 3-4
Halong Bay
Take the 3.5-hour drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay for an overnight cruise. "The Amazing Cave was truly spectacular, but bring good walking shoes - the cave floors can be slippery." Book upper deck cabins during summer (June-August) for better air flow. Join the sunrise tai chi on deck before visiting floating fishing villages.
- Days 4-6
Hoi An
Take a 90-minute flight from Hanoi to Danang, followed by a 45-minute transfer to Hoi An. Explore the Ancient Town in early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak heat. "Get clothes tailored on your first day so you have time for adjustments - most shops need 24-48 hours." Visit the Japanese Bridge early for the best photo lighting. Take a morning boat trip to Kim Bong woodworking village when the craftsmen are working.
- Day 7
My Son Sanctuary
- Days 8-10
Ho Chi Minh City & Mekong Delta
Fly to Ho Chi Minh City (1 hour 15 minutes). Visit the War Remnants Museum early to avoid crowds, plus Notre Dame Cathedral. Start Cu Chi Tunnels tours by 8am to dodge afternoon heat. "The Cu Chi Tunnels are fascinating but very hot and tight - skip if you're claustrophobic." Use your final day to see the Mekong Delta. Drive 2 hours to My Tho for boat trips through narrow canals. "Book a morning tour to see the floating markets at their busiest." You'll be back in Ho Chi Minh City by late afternoon.

What people love about 10-day Vietnam tours
- 10 Days Cultural Odyssey From South to North Vietnam
11 Day tour from the South to the North Vietnam. This was an exceptional tour that we had booked through Scoopon on the Internet and with a bit of encouragement, not much, convinced 9 other friends to join the trip. The holiday was from the 8th March 2014 to 19th March 2014 and in one word it was "EXCELLENT" and value for money. We had the added pleasure of meeting with Annie of your office, in Hoi An. We made a slight change to the itinerary by requesting that we fly with Air Vietnam within the country and boy was that wonderful. Right from the start we were warmly greeted on arrival from Australia and taken in comfort to our hotel which was excellent. Our tour guide LAM gave us 5 star attention and became more than a personal friend with every request made promptly dealt with and to our satisfaction. We were sorry to leave her and proceed to the next stage of the tour where we were managed by another great guide in MOT (HE SAID THAT ANOTHER AUSSIE CALLED HIM TOM SPELT BACKWARDS SO HE WAS TOM FROM THEN ON). He too was wonderful and oh yes i'm forgetting that the scenery and places we visited all over were wonderful . Tom too became more than a friend and attended to our every request with efficiency. Again we were sorry to leave him until the next stage of our tour where we had DUC and he too was an exceptional tour guide. The overnight stay in a luxury boat (EMOTION EXPRESS) in Ha Long Bay is something to experience. The tours by boat in the bay are unbelievable with side trips climbing up the mountain steps out of this world. One suggestion i make in that your tour company should incorporate concert tours in the evenings within the caves. We heard music coming out from one of the caves and DUC indicated that there was a concert going on with flashing coloured lights and wonderful music. We had tears waving goodbye to the boat crew in particular PHOUNG (I HOPE I'VE SPELT THE NAME CORRECTLY WHO MADE ME FEEL VERY SPECIAL).Then it was on to Hanoi and the many sights and scenery was wonderful. Finally our trip came to an end and we had to sadly say goodbye to VIETNAM. ANNIE YOU WILL KNOW THAT JUDY SETHI WAS OUR CO-ORDINATOR AND SHE TO HAS PROMISED TO WRITE A REVIEW IN DUE COURSE. However i wish you and your company every success and i have been spreading the good news to all my friends here in Perth Western Australia. Please pass on my very good wishes to LAM, MOT, DUC & PHOUNG. Rudy deMello
