What people love about Vietnam Tours in January
- 10 Days Vietnam Super Save - Depart every Monday/Friday from Hanoi
We had a wondeful holiday in Vietnam, one of our great highlights! It was an easy country to travel in, friendly people, accomodating hosts, warm and welcome. The food was amazing throughout. The tour was great value for money, and the accomodation was clean and quiet. The tour guides were great. Tony was responsive and timely throughout, a great communicator and was astonishingly helpful!. Thanks Tony and the wonderscape team.
- Best of Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi 7 Days - Super Save
For the most part the tour and tour guides were very good and knowledgeable. Our major concern was the overnight stay on the boat at Ha Long Bay. The room we were allocated from the outset had issues with diesel fumes within the room (we were on the 2nd deck right above the engine room) these fumes remained in the room to a varying degree dependent on the boat running or at anchor. The toilet in our room did not flush then started to emit a very unpleasant smell. We spoke to our tour representative on the boat (Brian) who arranged for a crewman to fix the problem. This only caused more issues with the toilet now leaking over the bathroom floor. There was also water backflowing out of the drain in the shower and floor near toilet. This could not be fixed and a number of beach towels were laid on the floor and around the base of the toilet to soak up the leakage. This forced my wife and I to walk down to the first-floor main toilet every time when required for use (the room next to ours had been locked off for similar plumbing issues). There was also a leak in one of our windows in the bedroom. We had an air conditioner in our room which did not work which also added to the issue with not dispersing diesel fumes. There were no other rooms available to relocate to as it was a full cruise. When we spoke to Brian about these issues, he was understanding but couldn't do anything more for us and then told us after this cruise this vessel was headed to dry dock for major repairs. Why was this boat allowed to conduct this tour if there were so many known faults? We would like to add Mr Danny was a great tour operator in Hanoi. Mr Hien & Mr TinTin in Saigon were excellent tour guides. If it hadn't been for the room issues on the boat this would have rated as an excellent tour.
- Vietnam Express Northbound
Fantastic tour, I would recommend it to anyone. The tour guide was extremely patient, friendly and knowledgable. All of his suggestions for optional activities were well priced and enjoyable. All of the meals he introduced us to were incredible and tasty. I was fortunate enough to meet some absolutely fantastic people in my tour group as well, we all ranged in age but everyone was enthusiastic, friendly and made the tour all the more fun and hilarious. Vietnam is a beautiful country and I believe this tour definitely shows you the best parts of it. The best place is Halong Bay, it was absolutely magical. If I had one suggestion it would be to maybe extend the tour one more day for more time in Halong Bay, but otherwise, an incredibly enjoyable experience.

How much do tours typically cost in Vietnam during January?
Tour prices in Vietnam during January generally run between $650 to $2480 for 6-11 day packages. An 8-day tour covering key destinations like Hanoi Halong Bay Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City costs around $1850 per person. This price includes stays at quality hotels like The Light Hotel Hanoi and Harmony Saigon Hotel alongside most meals and domestic flights.
What are the best places to visit in Vietnam during January?
The clear January skies make this an excellent time to explore Halong Bay from the deck of Paradise Sails Cruise. The ancient streets of Hoi An come alive with lantern-lit evenings while the Mekong Delta offers peaceful boat tours through its waterways. Travelers on TourRadar often mention the Koi Resort in Hoi An and Ba Na Hills as standout experiences. The dry conditions create perfect opportunities for exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels and wandering through Hanoi's Old Quarter.
What's the weather like in different regions of Vietnam in January?
Vietnam's weather varies by region in January. The north including Hanoi sees temperatures of 18-20°C with little rain. Central regions like Hoi An and Hue maintain mild temperatures between 22-25°C with occasional light rain. The south including Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta enjoys warm dry days at 25-30°C. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The January weather was perfect for exploring - cool enough in Hanoi for comfortable walking tours but warm enough in the south for enjoying the beaches."
Is January a good time for cruising Halong Bay?
Clear visibility and comfortable 20°C temperatures make January one of the top months for Halong Bay cruises. Operators like Le Journey Cruise and La Pandora Cruise run regular trips offering kayaking and cave exploration. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Cruising Halong Bay in January was magical - the cool weather and clear visibility made for stunning photos of the limestone karsts."

January marks peak season across Vietnam's popular destinations. Expect more visitors at key sites like Hanoi's Temple of Literature and Hoan Kiem Lake. Premium accommodations including The Myst Dong Khoi in Ho Chi Minh City and Apricot Hotel in Hanoi often reach full capacity early. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The Ancient Town in Hoi An was bustling with activity but staying at the Silkotel Hoi An provided a peaceful retreat from the crowds."

Peak season demands booking 3-4 months ahead minimum. Popular choices like Palm Garden in Hoi An and Doris Cruise in Halong Bay often sell out 6 months in advance. One TourRadar traveler advised: "We booked our January tour 4 months ahead and even then some of our preferred hotels were already full - early booking is essential."
