- MMichelle· June 7th, 2017My experience with Absolute Africa has been nothing short of amazing, from the booking process to the completion of the tour. Prior to leaving to commence the tour we had some difficulties obtaining a visa from South Africa. The office staff in London assisted us with every question and request with efficiency and understanding. I couldn't rate their customer service more highly, we really appreciated their support. Our trip was lead by Tour Guide Derek, and truck driver Angelo. Our group was very lucky to be lead by such a dynamic duo. Derek was always very organised, and ensuring everything was organised well ahead of times. I never felt unsafe at any point during our time in Africa, and were always provided with guidance around cultural norms, and what was expected of us. Derek & Angelo really made the trip great for us. Having seen Africa for myself now, I would recommend participating in a tour, as it makes travel through the rural areas significantly easier & safer. Despite Absolute Africa being a budget company, we were provided with all of the provision required, & more that enough food each day for breakfast & dinner. We loved our time on the truck, which was so high up that we got a great view of the landscape & animals as we drove past. I wish that we had booked in a longer trip than 42 days - it wasn't enough!Show moreAbsolute Africa commented on this reviewThank you very much for leaving your tour review, Michelle. We will surely pass on your comments to Derek and Angelo and are glad you had such a fab time travelling with us :) You've just got to find an excuse to come back and do the final section from... - CCraig· August 10th, 2015I had never been on a tour like this before but having done so now, I would recommend Absolute Africa highly to anyone. The office staff were prompt and efficient in their responses and happy to help out with all aspects of your trip planning (insurance, flights, health, finances...) I felt organised and in safe hands throughout the booking process. As for the tour itself, I can't rave enough about the crew. Our guide and drivers were all great at their jobs - both professional and fun - and made the trip what it was. Life on a truck can be testing at times but with a guide there to pull everyone together, it ends up being a huge positive part of the experience. I plan to visit other continents next but if I was to return to Africa, I would have no hesitation in booking with Absolute again. A sensational seven weeks and I miss it already!Show moreTrip date: June 2015

We can certainly cater for vegetarians and vegans, just mention this when you book and then we will let the tourleader know so he/she can take this into account for the meal planning.

Traveler•Written July 2022i was wondering if any of the tours have the zanzibar trips included in their prices, if not what are the 3 nights lodging supposed to be? also i wanted to know the difference between the Absolute safari vs the Gorillas to Capetown tours, because they have different prices and all
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written July 2022
The tours that include the Zanzibar excursion cost within the main price of the tour are the 11-day Maasai and Migration and the Reverse Maasai and Migration, and the Zanzibar to Gorillas tour. For all the other tours, you pre pay for the Zanzibar arrangements in GBP before departing for Africa and so you don't need to carry extra money out for this. Just add £295 onto the tour cost (or £265 if you book a tour which finishes on Zanzibar and wish to fly directly off Zanzibar and not take the return ferry to the mainland) to get an idea of how much the trip + Zanzibar will cost all together.

Asked on February 19th, 2016What is the best time to view the migration?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The prime time to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania is usually regarded as being from late November through to March when the big herds of wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and zebra head on to the southern plains of the Serengeti.
To get the best viewing on the other hand in Kenya's Masai Mara July through to September are usually regarded as the best months.

Asked on February 15th, 2016How much will this tour really cost me?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The costs to consider when travelling overland are:
Safari price & Local payment,
Optional excursions,
Personal spending money,
Visas.
We are always very transparent about what a tour will cost and are happy to go through personal, tailored budgets to give you a very realistic idea of what you will spend on your tour - whether you are an adrenaline junkie, souvenir-shopaholic or travelling on a shoestring…

Asked on February 15th, 2016What is the local payment?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The local payment is a separate payment from the initial price you pay before you leave. If a local payment is required it will be shown with the trip price. This second payment is made in Africa at the start of your trip. It is payable in USD. The local payment provides us with the means for expenses that need to be paid in cash to local businesses en route to be arranged in the most cost effective manner possible, a saving we can then pass on to you. It also means we can operate in a way that directly supports local businesses and wildlife authorities as we travel. Local Payment will not be changed once you have booked your travel arrangements.
