Asked on February 1st, 2024When should we arrive in Kigali? Will there be transport from and to the airport and if not, where will the group meet and how do we get there?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2024
The tour starts early on day 1 and so you would need to fly into Kigali the day prior to the departure date. We collect from both Pili Pili Boutique Hotel and Yambi Guesthouse in Kigali and both can be booked online. If you wish to stay elsewhere there is a possibility we can collect you but please check with us first. Otherwise you may need to make your way to one of the above for collection. You will be able to get a taxi from the airport or you may be able to arrange collection via the accommodation you choose.

Traveler•Written February 2024I have been looking to book Yambi guesthouse but I wonder whether it would be beneficial to include breakfast. How early does the tour start? Would there be enough time to eat breakfast first?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2024
We usually collect around 7.30 /8 am depending on how many people need to be collected and from where. I am not sure from what time Yambi guesthouse serves breakfast, if they start at 7 then there will be enough time. Or they might be able to give you a take away breakfast.

Traveler•Written February 2024What is it like with the flight back home. Will the tour end close to the airport in Victoria Falls? And when will be the official end of the tour?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2024
If looking at the 6th March Tusker Trails, the last night is on 11th April and that night is included staying in Victoria Falls town. You can then look at flights out of Victoria Falls airport on 12th April. Your tour leader can assist with organising a taxi to the airport from the campsite.

Andy
Traveler•Written February 2024Would it be possible to end the tour prematurely at noon on the 17th?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2024
The Tusker Trails tour is scheduled to stay in Victoria Falls for the last three nights and so it would logistically be fine for you to leave on the 17th September. You would just miss out on your final afternoon and evening. If you are OK with that then it's no problem to take the earlier flight.

Traveler•Written April 2024Could we celebrate this birthday separate from the group and if yes, what activities are possible on Zanzibar and fit for a birthday?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written April 2024
On Zanzibar it is very much your own free time even if you book to travel to the island with the group so you are welcome to celebrate as you wish here. Activities on Zanzibar include activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, and some wildlife options. You may prefer to research places to go for a special evening meal perhaps. We stay for three nights at Kendwa Beach in the north west so you can see what may be located near here so you don't have to travel too far.

Asked on January 17th, 2024Does this tour have an additional single supplement?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written January 2024
There is no single supplement for this tour. Solo travellers generally pair up with another traveller of the same sex to share a tent for the tour. The tents are 3 man tents shared between just two people. Depending on the departure date you were looking at we may be able to allow for a spare tent on the truck so you can have a tent to yourself if numbers and space allows it. This would not be chargeable.

Asked on February 19th, 2016When is the best time to view the migration?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The prime time to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania is usually regarded as being from late November through to March when the big herds of wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and zebra head on to the southern plains of the Serengeti.
To get the best viewing on the other hand in Kenya's Masai Mara July through to September are usually regarded as the best months.

Asked on February 15th, 2016What is the local payment?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The local payment is a separate payment from the initial price you pay before you leave. If a local payment is required it will be shown with the trip price. This second payment is made in Africa at the start of your trip. It is payable in USD. The local payment provides us with the means for expenses that need to be paid in cash to local businesses en route to be arranged in the most cost effective manner possible, a saving we can then pass on to you. It also means we can operate in a way that directly supports local businesses and wildlife authorities as we travel. Local Payment will not be changed once you have booked your travel arrangements.

Asked on February 15th, 2016How much will this tour really cost me?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The costs to consider when travelling overland are:
Safari price & Local payment,
Optional excursions,
Personal spending money,
Visas.
We are always very transparent about what a tour will cost and are happy to go through personal, tailored budgets to give you a very realistic idea of what you will spend on your tour - whether you are an adrenaline junkie, souvenir-shopaholic or travelling on a shoestring…

Asked on January 1st, 2016Is there an option of this trip running north bound or are all the trips running south bound?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written January 2016
The tour operator does not operate this tour northbound as such, but they do have a trip called the Northern trails that does this route and can be joined at Johannesburg, Vic Falls and depart in Kigali if you wish. Please contact us to arrange this.
