Itinerary
- Day 1
Kigali to Bwindi National Park
Your representative picks you up in Kigali between 7:00 am and 11:00 am for the drive to Bwindi National Park, which takes roughly 5 hours. You'll travel north through Ruhengeri (Musanze), then cross into Uganda at either the Cyanika or Katuna border post, passing through Kisoro or Kabale on the way. By early afternoon you'll arrive at Bwindi with some time to spare. If you're interested, there are optional activities like canoeing at Lake Mutanda, visiting the Batwa community, or watching how traditional organic coffee gets made.

Bwindi National Park Gorilla Trek
After breakfast you'll head to the Bwindi National Park gate for a pre-trekking briefing where your national park guide explains what to expect and puts together your gorilla trekking group. The actual trek can last several hours depending on where the gorillas are in the forest that day, and you'll trek alongside other visitors in your assigned group. Once the trek ends and you're back at the starting point, you'll drive to Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Bunyonyi to Kigali
You'll have breakfast and then drive from Lake Bunyonyi back to Kigali, a journey of about 4 to 5 hours via the Katuna/Gatuna border. Before leaving Lake Bunyonyi for Kigali, you have the option to do a sunrise canoeing activity if you want to start the day on the water.
