- PMPamela· March 16th, 2025Our 3 day Gorilla trek from Kigali was fabulous. Communication with the company was very good.... the whole tour ran very smoothly. We were the only 2 on our tour so received individualised attention from our driver Amanya. He really took care of us and we learnt a lot from him. He was very personable and easy going It was a pleasure to spend the 3 days with him. Our gorilla experience was magical... it was a privilege to be in the presence of these animals. Our accommodation at Kuranji lodge was basic but comfortable with good food and friendly, accommodating staff. Thank you for a great experience.Show moreTrip date: February 2025
- Lora· March 9th, 2025Just wow! Pick up in Kigali with a 5 hour drive across border into Uganda. Border crossing took about 30 minutes of this due to x ray of bags and walking across border. Accommodations at the lodge were basic, but it was a community sponsored lodge, so we felt like we were helping the locals. Basic room with a bed, a bathroom, and a front porch. One outlet, one light in the bedroom, one in the bathroom and one on the from porch. WIFI available at the restaurant and reception, although we could get it in our room. The food was great at the restaurant. People very friendly and helpful. The gorilla trek was fantastic! Family of 13 gorillas appeared in front of us and spent an hour in our midst. Unbelievable experience! $800 of your trip goes to your entrance fee to the Brindi Park. Jackson was our guide and did a great job.Show moreTrip date: March 2025
- Jason· September 24th, 2024Absolutely amazing! My driver (Eric) was the best! The lodge was super nice people and the food was great! Internet was a bit flakey due to constant power outages but that didn’t bother me Gorillas were super cool!!!Show moreTrip date: September 2024

- Rachel· June 18th, 2023Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. Pre tour discussion with Edison was excellent - advised on logistics and was prompt and polite. We got advised on extra excursions and could pay in advance. Our guide Amanya went above and beyond to give us the most unforgettable experience. Lodgings were comfortable with super friendly staff, food was great, we were well hydrated with water and had a comfy vehicle for some bumpy roads. We just can’t thank you enough and cannot rate more highly. Have already recommended to friends. PS of course the gorillas were outstanding too!Show moreTrip date: June 2023

- AAnonymous· February 21st, 2023My guide, Herbert, was excellent. Always early, knowledgeable about the countries/locations we were visiting, and very kind. Him and the team pulled strings to get me a gorilla trekking permit last minute. I had a WONDERFUL time and wish I could have stayed longer. Highly recommend - as a woman traveling alone I felt safe and comfortable the entire time.Show moreTrip date: February 2023

- BDBert· September 1st, 2022This was one of the highlights of my trip. Seeing the mountain gorillas that close was so amazing. Bamboo Eco-tours as a company was very professional and communicative. What drew me to them was their embracing of the local Ugandan community. Edison the owner was very responsive, polite, and flexible when my other safari got cancelled/rearranged. And of course Herbert my driver/guide was amazing, informative and great to talk to. (It is a long drive back and forth from Kigali :). The accommodations are quite basic compared to some of the other tours that you do the hike with, but everything was great. I couldn’t recommend them more!Show moreBamboo Ecotours commented on this reviewThank you, Bert, for the review! Glad you enjoyed the experience. We hope you will consider visiting Uganda again.Trip date: August 2022

Asked on December 22nd, 2024Will we need 2 visas or a multi entry visa for Rwanda? We arrive there, then go to Uganda, then back to Rwanda on this tour.
- Bamboo EcotoursOperator•Written December 2024
You will need a visa called "East Africa Tourist Visa", which you will obtain when you arrive at Kigali international airport. That visa costs USD100 and grants multiple entries into Uganda and Rwanda. That means the visa will work when you enter Rwanda, and entering Uganda, and when you return to Rwanda after the trek.

Traveler•Written December 2024We start our trip in Kenya, We were going to get an East Africa visa on arrival in Kenya. We then travel to Tanzania, then back to Kenya. We then fly to Rwanda and travel to Uganda. Will the East Africa visa be void if we leave Kenya for Tanzania - not one of the East Africa countries?
- Bamboo EcotoursOperator•Written December 2024
Kenya no longer subscribes to the East Africa tourist visa. You will need an eTA for Kenya. Tanzania is also not part of the East Africa tourist visa treaty. So in summary, you will need 3 types of visas for your East Africa tour. 1. eTA for Kenya 2. A single entry tourist visa for Tanzania 3. East Africa tourist visa to cover Rwanda and Uganda.
