- CBCiaran· June 21st, 2016The tour was good for seeing the gorillas at a relatively cheap price though I feel the other included days were a bit of a waste of time as there wasn't really much to do. I would have preferred the tour to have been cheaper and only 4 days maximum. The guides were friendly. Unfortunately some people had their belongings stolen at one of the hostels we stayed at, maybe a poor choice. Food included was tasty.Show moreAbsolute Africa commented on this reviewThank you for your comments Ciaran. We are sorry that you felt the Gorilla Stop was too long. We do always need an extra day in the itinerary on the trips up to the gorillas as we cannot always guarantee getting all the permits on the same day... Show moreTrip date: June 2016

Asked on February 11th, 2025When does the tour end Day 5 or Day 6? Is this a 6 day tour?

The 7th July Gorilla Stop finishes on the morning of 12th July, so are free to book onward flights any time on or after 12th July.

Asked on March 3rd, 2024I would like to know more about the camping situation. Could you please give me some more information about it.
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written March 2024
This tour has 3 nights camping and we provide tents and sleeping mats. The tents are 3-man dome tents and we sleep just two people in each. If you are a solo traveller you are paired up with another solo traveller of the same sex to share a tent with. You would need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. We then have 2 nights in dorm accommodation at a local guesthouse in Kisoro, Uganda. Upgrades may be available and these are organised on a first come first serve basis once out in Africa.

Asked on July 20th, 2023Can I add days to this trip?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written July 2023
You can extend tours to visit Zanzibar and travel onto Victoria Falls or Cape Town even, or you could start in Kenya for time there and by the White Nile in Uganda. If you let me know how long you have available and if there are particular highlights you wish to see I can then make some recommendations.

Asked on June 19th, 2023could you please let me know more about the trek in with the gorillas. how long of a hike is it, how close would we be, how long can we stay with the gorillas.

Traveler•Written June 2023would this be trekking with the gorillas two times? once at the beginning of the trip in Uganda and the second time at the end of the trip in Rwanda ?? the itinerary doesn't have enough information for me, please provide more information on this trip.
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written June 2023
The trek to the gorillas takes place on one day and starts with a transfer from the campsite in Kisoro to the gorilla park gates. Here you are allocated a gorilla group to go and visit and you start off on your trek. This can take anywhere between 45 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the group is located and how far they roam. Once you find the gorillas you have 1 hour to observe and photograph them. We currently trek in Bwindi National Park in Uganda and the Gorilla Stop tour includes one trek. We do not trek in Rwanda.

Asked on December 30th, 2022Is the Gorilla trekking price in Uganda included? As I need to get the visa for Uganda, in case that the visa is not provided, can I refund the tour or change the date? Will you be able to provide all info for visa reasons?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written December 2022
The next available departure is the 8th March Gorilla stop and this tour does include the gorilla permit in the price. To secure a seat we require a non refundable deposit and this can be transferred to another date in the next year if you cannot travel on the original date. There is a £50 transfer fee per person. You may require a visa for Rwanda and if so you can apply for the East Africa visa at the airport in Kigali which makes things easier. Otherwise we can assist with information to apply for the Ugandan visa once you book.

Asked on December 4th, 2018What time does the tour end?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written December 2018
This tour will end in Kigali around 2:00 pm on Day 5.
There is a border crossing from Uganda to Rwanda on this day, so Absolute Africa recommends planning flights that depart from Kigali after 6:00 pm on this day, in case of any delays.

Asked on September 1st, 2016What is the group size of this tour?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written September 2016
This tour will group around 16 people. The group is small enough to be able to follow the guide, ask questions and be heard, but large enough not to feel lonely as you will always have someone to have a chat with.

Asked on August 1st, 2016How does visa work?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written August 2016
Unfortunately we are unable to give visa advice due to the vast number of nationalities which our customers represent. Some nationalities can travel freely over borders, where others require advance permission to enter. There are also changes in requirements from time to time. We recommend checking your local embassy or consulate's website for the latest up to date information.

Asked on February 15th, 2016How much will this tour really cost me?
- Absolute AfricaOperator•Written February 2016
The costs to consider when travelling overland are:
Safari price
Optional excursions
Personal spending money
Visas
We are always very transparent about what a tour will cost and are happy to go through personal, tailored budgets to give you a very realistic idea of what you will spend on your tour - whether you are an adrenaline junkie, souvenir-shopaholic or travelling on a shoestring…
