Itinerary
- Day 1
Quito to Machachi
Your guide meets you in Quito, and from there you'll drive south toward Machachi along the Avenue of Volcanoes. The first stop is NatuFlor, where you'll walk through rose cultivation across 25 hectares and see 81 different varieties growing. After getting a sense of how the operation works, you head to Hacienda El Porvenir for lunch and your initial cooking lesson that focuses on traditional Ecuadorian techniques.

Hacienda El Porvenir
You'll start with breakfast at the farm, then take a riding lesson to get comfortable on horseback before heading out. From there, you'll spend about 2 hours riding across the slopes of Ruminahui Volcano with a local chagra guide who shares insights about Andean country life and what it's like living in this region. After returning and having lunch, there's a short walk to Manto Blanco Waterfall to wrap up the afternoon.

Hacienda El Porvenir
You'll join the chagras as they go through their daily work moving horses and feeding llamas, starting after a traditional breakfast. Then things get more active when you head to the High Ropes Course, which sits 20 feet up and includes ladders, nets, tightropes, and swinging logs to navigate. Back at the farm for lunch, you'll finish the day by planting a tree in support of Pachamama, the Andean concept of Mother Earth.

Cotopaxi National Park
After breakfast, you'll drive through ancient lava flows to enter Cotopaxi National Park, where your guide explains the area's Andean geology. The hike takes you up to Refugio José Ribas at 4,800m/15,744 ft, giving you a real sense of the volcano's scale from up close. Later, you continue to Limpiopungo Lake for a box lunch while learning about the local plant and animal life and what conservation efforts look like here. Then it's the drive back to Quito.
