What people love about Spain Tours in August
- Highlights of Spain (Classic, Summer)
From the first day of our trip, we were welcomed by our Travel Director, Maria who made the entire experience amazing. Her knowledge of the destination and of course the local experts who shared with us, the ins and outs of the beautiful sites and cultural attractions, is something we will always remember The itinerary was beautiful and the everyone had a great time. Meals and accommodation were excellent.
- Spain in Style (Small Group)
The tour itself was marvelous. The venues we enjoyed were truly the best of Spain. Our tour guide, Riad, was friendly, informative, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The bus and driver (Fran) were top notch in quality, comfort, and safety. The only issue we had was Tourradar's lack of offering US-based customers the ability to upgrade their hotel rooms like everyone else in the world. The tour guide told us that Tourradar is bad about not offering hotel upgrades to US clients. The hotel in Madrid was filthy, and the hotel in Cordoba had almost no a/c and they turned the water off that night. We were dropped off like red-headed stepchildren where the bus driver stayed, while everyone else went to the nicer hotels for a couple of hundred dollars more for the whole trip (I was told by others in our group). If anyone from the US wants to book through Tourradar, I strongly suggest that you CALL and ask them directly about hotel upgrades prior to booking the Grand Tour of Spain. Had I known that beforehand, I would now be rating this tour five stars easily.
- Andalucia & Toledo, 5 days on Tuesdays
This tour delivered more than my initial expectations. I visited the cities I had not previously visited - this being my reason for booking. There was a good balance of chosen activities at each destination - Mosque Cathedral in Córdoba, La Plaza España in Sevilla, The Alhambra in Granada and a city tour of Toledo. Our local guides were informative and knowledgeable, making each tour interesting and relevant. Our tour leader helped to make our time very enjoyable as he was patient, helpful, informative and entertaining. All in all, I was delighted that I had chosen this tour to conclude my seven weeks in Spain.
What our customers ask about Spain Tours in August 2026
What is the weather like in Spain during August?
Spain experiences its peak summer temperatures in August with significant regional variations. Central Spain including Madrid sees temperatures up to 40°C (104°F). The coastal regions like Barcelona stay more comfortable at 28-30°C (82-86°F). Southern cities including Seville and Granada regularly hit 35°C (95°F) or higher. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The Valencia hotel had sub-par air conditioning. We went in July and it was incredibly hot so we were miserable at that hotel."
What are the best festivals and events to experience in Spain during August?
Spain's August calendar fills with local celebrations and major events. The tomato-throwing festival La Tomatina takes place in Buñol Valencia on the last Wednesday. The Feria de Málaga brings music and dance in mid-August. Local celebrations happen across cities from San Sebastian's Semana Grande to Granada's Feria. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The atmosphere during August festivals was incredible especially experiencing the evening flamenco shows in Sacromonte caves of Granada."
What are the best coastal destinations to visit in Spain during August?
The Mediterranean shores of Costa del Sol and Barcelona provide relief from summer heat. Accommodations range from the beachfront Hilton Garden Inn in Costa del Sol to the central Catalonia Barcelona Plaza. Properties like the Sol Principe in Torremolinos give direct beach access. As TourRadar travelers note: "The hotel was satisfactory with close access to the beach - be sure to bring swim/beachwear!"
How crowded are tourist attractions in Spain during August?
Tourist numbers reach their yearly peak in August with long lines at major sites. Popular attractions like Barcelona's Sagrada Familia and Granada's Alhambra often sell out weeks ahead. A TourRadar traveler advised: "Don't expect to turn up at a famous site and be able to get tickets there and then. Book them online in advance particularly for the Sagrada Familia."
What's the dining schedule like in Spain during August?
Spanish mealtimes run later than in many countries. Lunch service typically starts at 2 p.m. and dinner begins around 9 p.m. Many restaurants add outdoor seating during summer months. Hotels like the Melia Lebreros in Seville adjust breakfast times for tour groups. One TourRadar traveler shared: "The late dining hours actually worked well in August allowing us to enjoy cooler evening temperatures while sampling local specialties."
What are the best day trips to take in Spain during August?
Popular excursions include visiting Toledo from Madrid exploring Montserrat from Barcelona and discovering Ronda from Costa del Sol. Tour companies often arrange early departures like those from Abades Nevada Palace to Granada's Alhambra to avoid peak heat. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The day trip to Toledo offered a perfect escape from Madrid's August heat with its narrow shaded streets and historic sites."
