What people love about Spain Tours in January
- Andalucia & Toledo, 5 days on Thursdays
Overcrowded bus with dodgy aircon but fantastic sites visited. Great tour guide and interesting local guides.
- Colors of Spain - 8 Days
It was a great well organized trip. Our tour guides only wanted to speak spanish and it would have been nice to put all english speaking in one group.
- Spanish Delights, 7 days
It was a lot of time on the tour bus and we were not given the specific itinerary in advance (just the day before we were told when we would be leaving). The tour guide Ophelia was very friendly and helpful. The hotels and cities we stayed in were nice. The dinners were alright.
What our customers ask about Spain Tours in January 2026
Which Spanish regions are best to visit in January?
Southern Spain's Andalusia region offers milder winter conditions making it an excellent choice for January travel. Cities like Seville Granada and Cordoba see fewer tourists at major sites. Temperatures stay comfortable at beachfront properties like Sol Principe Torremolinos. The Canary Islands particularly Gran Canaria and Tenerife maintain warm temperatures around 20°C (68°F) throughout winter making them reliable destinations for sun seekers.
What unique attractions can I visit in Spain during January?
January provides quieter access to Spain's most popular sites. The Alhambra Palace in Granada offers clear views of the snow-dusted Sierra Nevada mountains. The Mezquita in Córdoba sees lighter crowds and the Exe Ciudad de Córdoba puts visitors close to main attractions. Madrid's Royal Palace and Prado Museum along with Seville's Plaza de España welcome visitors with shorter wait times. In Barcelona the Catalonia Barcelona 505 hotel serves as a convenient base for exploring Gaudí's architectural works without peak season crowds.
What is the weather like in Spain during January?
Winter temperatures vary across Spain's regions. Southern cities including Seville and Granada see mild days around 15-17°C (59-63°F). Madrid and Barcelona experience cooler temperatures near 10-12°C (50-54°F). The Sierra Nevada mountains receive snow creating opportunities for both cultural tours and winter sports. The Abades Nevada Palace in Granada provides comfortable accommodation for travelers exploring this diverse winter landscape.
Are there any special festivals or events in Spain during January?
The Three Kings Day celebration on January 6th stands out as January's major cultural event with parades throughout Spain especially in Madrid and Barcelona. The San Sebastian Film Festival draws culture enthusiasts while Jaen celebrates its winter olive harvest. In Seville the central Melia Lebreros hotel places visitors near the Three Kings parade route allowing easy access to festivities.
Is January a good time for food experiences in Spain?
Winter brings out distinctive Spanish dishes like cocido madrileño in Madrid and calcots in Catalonia. Indoor tapas tours provide warmth and local flavor during cool evenings. Granada's tapas scene thrives in winter when visitors can warm up after touring the Alhambra. Hotels such as the Melia Lebreros in Seville adapt their menus to feature seasonal specialties.
How affordable is traveling to Spain in January?

Four-star hotels in prime locations often price around 150 USD per night a substantial savings from high-season rates. Attraction tickets and dining costs also tend to be lower making January an economical time to experience Spain.
