Which locally recognized cultural practices can visitors participate in, and where do they take place?
Flamenco's really at the heart of Andalusian culture and you can actually get involved yourself especially in Granada which is pretty much where it all began. There are these great professional studios where you can take private classes and learn the basic steps and rhythms it's really hands-on. If you're interested tour 85782 "Journeys: Discover Spain National Geographic Journeys" includes a private flamenco class in Granada that's really authentic. Over in Cordoba's Jewish Quarter you'll find traditional workshops where you can try your hand at ceramics and leatherwork its quite special.
What natural areas can I visit outside the cities and how do I get there?
Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park is absolutely stunning its actually a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with these incredible limestone landscapes. You can get there by private bus or join guided tours and the hiking through villages like Zahara and Grazalema is beautiful.
