- AEllen Holmes-van Caspel· June 18th, 2013This holiday makes for a relaxing week in stunning surroundings with some excellent walking and delicious food! What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The visit to Seville was fantastic. We spent it wandering around the town, visiting the impressive Royal Palace and having a relaxing lunch on one of the shady squares. The walk to and over the Pass of the Doves was for me the highlight of the walks.  What did you think of your group leader? The group leader was excellent. He was friendly and easy going and full of knowledge. He was at all times aware of people's abilities, being attentive and helpful where necessary.Do you have any advice for potential travellers?Bring plenty of sunscreen and a hat, and don't forget your swimming things! Is there anything else you would like to add?For this holiday we stayed in the Cortijo Rosario. It is good to stay in one centre, as you don't have any packing and re-packing to do. The Cortijo has very friendly and efficient  staff. We had some very nice food, which was locally sourced and home cooked. On the last night we had a cooking demonstration on how to cook Gazpachio and a Paella and how to make a delicious Sangria. The walks are leisurely and moderate and always end in a local cafe with a nice beer or the superb 'tinto de verano' they serve there. On coming back to the Cortijo, you can fall straight into the swimming pool and cool off!Show moreTrip date: June 2013
- APoppy Solomou· March 25th, 2012As a much younger traveller then most who were on the trip, at 19, I found it an interesting and enriching experience. However, as with all holidays there were high and low points. Seville is an amazing city, and it has inspired me to return, because a few hours out of the day was simply not enough to explore such a jewel of history and culture. The walks were relatively easy, and had enough variety to remain interesting, and the location of the Cortijo was, while very remote, beautiful. However, the food one the first two nights was disappointing, though it did improve somewhat. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?Driving up winding mountain roads, right to the top of the Grazelema Mountains was certainly a high point, if slightly nerve-wracking! The vultures that flew almost level with where we were eating lunch that day was also amazing. But of course, the city of Seville was completely amazing, and I was loathe to leave after such a short time. What did you think of your group leader? He was very knowledgeable, if a little long winded. We were lucky enough to have two guides, one of whom was a native of the area, which gave an insiders view of the area. He could have perhaps been clearer about the exact nature of the walks, but overall was completely competent. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Its an enjoyable holiday, and if you are looking for some Winter Sun, along with activities then its perfect. However, the remoteness of the location means there is very little interaction with the local people. Is there anything else you would like to add?It was an interesting holiday, however I found it not completely well rounded. The food on the first two nights was very disappointing, especially after such a long journey. The walks on the first few days were very samey, and then the next couple of walks, while very different from our first walks, were again quite similar day after day, so there could have been more variety. But apart from that it was a beautiful holiday, and if escape is what you are looking for this is the perfect holiday for that. I certainly felt refreshed afterwards! As a single traveller, it was a little lonely, butI imagine this would change on a specifically solo travellers trip. All in all, a good holiday for some escapism from a stressful life!ÂShow moreTrip date: March 2012
- AAnna Charlton· January 19th, 2012This felt like a real holiday with all the details taken care of by Exodus and the farmhouse manager. The scenery was beautiful and the walks diverse in the terrains they covered. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The journey up to the Pass of the Doves was incredible (so long as eyes were closed on some of the hairpins). What did you think of your group leader?Chris the group leader was very calm and measured and well informed - and by request put on a quiz to test how well we had been listening.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? The walking is relatively easy (around 6 miles a day) - if you like long or steep walks this isn't the holiday for you. However if you want a really relaxing break it probably is.Show moreTrip date: January 2012
- ARina Gurvitz· January 3rd, 2012This is the first time I had this type of holiday with a guide and a bunch of people I didn't know. I was worried that I wouldn't be happy to be told where to go/when to go/what to do by someone else on my holiday. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The location was beautiful and remote, no TV/ Internet . We were very lucky with the weather which for me was one of the most important factors for enjoying the whole experience. The views on the walks were great and everyone in the group was very nice. Â What did you think of your group leader?Andy was a very friendly guide, easy to talk to with a good sense of humour. On the last day I wanted an alternative to the walk and Andy recommended a beautiful village in the area of the walk. I was dropped off on the way and was picked up on the way back. This was a different day to the ones before but still very enjoyable.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? The cortija offers a cosy homely environment but is quite basic. The nearest village is 20 minutes away so you need to bring everything that you might need with you. There are no real facilities for washing clothes and those can get very dirty so bring enough to last the week.Make sure you get concrete directions where to meet the leader in the airport as it wasn't as simple as we were made to believe at home. Is there anything else you would like to add?The staff in the cortija were lovely and the kitchen catered for some special dietry requirements very well.Show moreTrip date: January 2012
- AJane Jonason· June 28th, 2011A fabulous holiday. Cortijo Rosario has very friendly welcoming staff and fabulous food. The walks are lovely and although we had unusually hot weather (even for June), we enjoyed every moment. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?Hard to decide between the last two days as both walks were in the hills with stunning views. Perhaps the walk to the El Chorro Gorge just gets top spot, particularly as we finished the afternoon with a swim in the lake opposite the King's summer residence! What did you think of your group leader?Fantastic, could not have been better!Do you have any advice for potential travellers? If you go in June, take lots of sun block!Show moreTrip date: June 2011
- AHannah Good· June 5th, 2011The best Exodus trip I've been on!What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The landscape and flowers of the area were fabulous and inspiring. What did you think of your group leader?Alejandro was superb- the best guide so far with Exodus. He went out of his way to meet the needs of the group in a friendly, generous and fun way. He clearly loved his job and his enthusiasm for travel is infectious! Great to have a guide fluent in the language- really helped the trip run smoothly.Do you have any advice for potential travellers?Take sun cream with a high enough factor! Is there anything else you would like to add?A truly relaxing week away in the sun. Definitely a must if you like mojitos.Show moreTrip date: June 2011

Asked on December 12th, 2024What is the difference between Level 2 and Level 4? If we're planning to go on April 19, 2025 - which level we will be joining to? Is Level 4 a more rigorous hikes?
- Exodus Adventure TravelsOperator•Written December 2024
Most departures are rated Activity Level 2 (Leisurely/Moderate) but we also offer trips with Activity Level 4 (Moderate/Challenging), which allow us to ascend the higher peaks and walk on more challenging terrain for longer hours. April 19, 2025 is a level 2 departure. LEVEL 2: Expect generally easy trails, but with some ascent and descent on most days. Some walks may meet the criteria for Activity Level 3 (Moderate). Therefore, you should be comfortable with three to five hours of walking per day and enjoy reasonably regular walks at home. The paths will be non-technical but could involve some short uneven sections. Maximum ascents will be no more than 2,295ft (700m), while longer days with less ascent could cover up to 8.5mi (14km). LEVEL 4: An adventure made for experienced hikers and hill walkers with good fitness, normally in mountainous terrain and sometimes at altitude with varied and occasionally challenging conditions underfoot. Walks on some days may meet the criteria for Activity Level 5 (Challenging). Expect five to seven hours of walking per day.
