Reviews of Small Group tours to Andalucia

Lalo was fantastic!! He added so much to the trip. It would not have been as good as it was without him. He made us feel comfortable everywhere! He obtained local guides that were wonderful. THe accommodations were fine, except for the hotel in Madrid - Acta Medfor. In fact, I arrived a day early and paid for one day. Although I made my reservation two months early, they charged me 244 Euros for one night, which was outrageous as it was a much lower quality hotel. My buddy on the trip also did the same and she was only charged 130 euros. Can't figure it out but feel ripped-off. I should have stayed some place else but only stayed there for the convenience of joining the tour.
- Andalusia with Costa del Sol & Toledo
There was some confusion about the meeting place in Madrid, Tourradar called it the Courtyard by Marriott Princesa Hotel which doesn't exist there anymore. Its now the Princesa Plaza Hotel which it does state in the Julia Travel itinerary so they need to align themselves on this issue. Other than that the tour was a lot of fun and Marina, our tour guide, was so amazing and extremely patient but always had a smile on her face and Paco our driver was also amazing. If there was anything critical to say it was the meals at a couple of the stops left us disappointed, especially in Sevilla. We expected something far better from the beautiful Melia Hotel than pan fried dry chicken and potato patties the first night and regular pasta the second, hardly traditional Spanish cuisine! Very disappointing but a beautiful hotel none the less. The hotel in Granada left us a little disappointed as well, on kind of a trashy street in the downtown area with few restaurants nearby, We left wake up calls at all the hotels we stayed at and only received one in four requests even though we went directly to the front desk, in each case, to request them and watched as they either wrote it in their schedule or added it in their system. Was not happy about this as we had early morning starts each day of the tour. The locations were all amazing and the guides we met along the way were very good all around but there should be some alternate arrangements that can be made to accomodate some of the older clients as far as the amount of walking they had to do, maybe have some golf carts there to assist them through the long streches from point A to point B, especially in the case of the L'Hambra where it is a fair distance down a hill and then up one from the bus drop off to the starting point on the tour. Overall a good tour and I would book another through Tourradar but my advice would be to make inquiries into the hotels you're staying at and not be satisfied with the claim that they will be "similar" to the one you start in, they're not! I would also keep your tour short, you have a variety of nationalities on the bus and they all have their own ideas of what personal space is or is not and some have no idea what the meaning of lining up for something is all about.....I guess its a cultural thing maybe?
What our customers ask about Andalucia Small Group Tours
What kind of accommodations can I expect on a small group tour in Andalucia?
Small group tours in Andalucia provide stays in locally-operated boutique properties that blend regional character with modern comforts. The Hotel Soho Palacio San Gabriel in Ronda and Monjas del Carmen in Granada showcase traditional Spanish design elements. A notable example is the Finca el Cerrillo near Malaga which transformed an old olive mill into 13 distinct en-suite rooms complete with gardens and views across the valley.
What unique experiences are available on small group tours in Andalucia?
Small group tours give access to experiences that larger groups can't easily arrange such as private flamenco performances in Seville and exclusive Alhambra Palace visits. The Cool Sevilla Hotel offers hands-on tapas cooking sessions while the Hotel Casa Palacio Pilar del Toro connects guests with local craftspeople. As one TourRadar traveler commented "Our small group size allowed us to visit local family-run olive oil producers and have an authentic experience that wouldn't be possible with larger groups."
What is the best season for small group tours in Andalucia?
The prime times for Andalucian small group tours are spring (March-May) and fall (September-October) when the weather is pleasant and tourist numbers drop. These periods offer better access to sought-after accommodations like the Hotel Casa Palacio Pilar del Toro and Cool Sevilla Hotel. A TourRadar traveler noted "Traveling in a small group during shoulder season meant we could enjoy popular sites like the Alhambra without the summer crowds."
How do meal arrangements work on small group tours in Andalucia?
Tour packages typically start with breakfast at properties like the Macia Condor in Granada and include special dining events throughout. Groups of 8-16 people fit comfortably in local eateries allowing for authentic food experiences. These range from olive oil sampling in Úbeda to sherry tasting in Jerez with options to accommodate different dietary needs.
What are the transportation advantages of small group tours in Andalucia?
Mini-coaches used for small groups can navigate historic centers and rural villages that larger vehicles can't reach. The journey between Seville and Granada for instance can include stops at white villages like Zahara de la Sierra and Grazalema. One TourRadar traveler mentioned "Our compact tour bus could navigate the narrow streets of Ronda and park close to attractions saving us time and making the experience more enjoyable."
How much free time is typically available on small group tours in Andalucia?
Tours mix structured activities with independent exploration time. A typical day might start with a guided tour of Seville's Alcazar Palace followed by free hours to explore the Santa Cruz quarter. As one TourRadar traveler noted "We had the perfect mix of organized activities and free time to really soak in places like Granada's Albaicin quarter and Ronda's dramatic gorge."
