- VTVivian· October 11th, 2023Excellent tour with Ben and Taffy! The only thing I would change is that I wish G Adventures would consider ending the Joburg-Botswana-Vic Falls segment of the tour in Zambia rather than Zimbabwe as there are no visa requirements for most travellers to Zambia and rather expensive visa required for Zimbabwe - and also a 2 hour process. This is worthwhile for those continuing down to Zimbabwe to Kruger - but for those of us ending in Vic Falls - it would be much smoother to end on the Zambian side of Vic Falls instead.Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewHi Vivian, So glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with Ben and Taffy!Trip date: September 2023

- ASAllyssa· February 26th, 2023I was hesitant to book this tour because I have never been to Africa before. I was afraid for my safety and there were too many preparations (such as vaccines/camping equipment) for a week-long trip. However, this whole experience changed my mind and my preconceptions about Africa. We had an epic time with Patrick and Helms. They are both rockstars! Patrick is an exceptional person and a natural leader. He is an all-around guide, entertainer, cook, driver, doctor, foot splinter-remover etc. He made sure to accommodate everyone's needs, especially those with dietary restrictions. He immersed us in African culture by teaching us the phrases from different languages and singing songs. There is not a day that we do not sing "Jambo Bowana" except the first day he taught it to us because we all just woke up from our naps. Helms is the sweetest person on this tour! He is a reliable driver with a mechanic background. Our vehicle, Lando, had popped a tire and sparked a fire. His split second decision to stop and evacuate all passengers has prevented serious/lethal injuries. The Lando was not equipped with proper emergency gear and we had to ask passing vehicles for their fire extinguisher and jack. Helms remained calm and focused on fixing the Lando. Unfortunately, the damage was worse and the Lando could not continue on. We had to wait for a couple of vans that took 5 hours to get to us. Helms was left behind to watch over the vehicle for the next 3 days ALONE in a highway where lions roam at night. He prioritizes our safety and comfort. Throughout the entire trip, I know that I can trust this man with my life! I hope G Adventures would develop concrete/feasible back up plans for situations like these to protect their employees. The people of Africa are welcoming and kindhearted. My favourite part was to see the Okavanga Delta people. It was a wholesome, humbling and heartwarming time. Despite their limited resources (i.e., food/water), they still carry an optimistic outlook. This is an unforgettable experience! It saddens me that this tour had come to an end, but I am filled with joy to have seen Africa with such a great company. And I would do it all over again if I can have the Patrick and Helms! I can't name a better duo. Thanks guys!Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewHi Allyssa, Thank you so much for this lovely and constructive feedback; I really appreciate it. I'm sorry to learn of the issues you experienced regarding the Lando but I'm so happy to hear how great Patrick and Helms did in a difficult situation. Our... Show moreTrip date: February 2023
- Karmen· October 27th, 2022A trip of a lifetime! We visited amazing places with jawdropping scenery. The Okavango delta is an absolute must, such as Victoria falls. The tour was camping all the way, but the campsites were clean and well equipped. The CEOs were professional, funny with good knowledge of history, nature, culture and politics. They cooked very well too. It is a fast paced tour but this is the only way to squeeze so much into two weeks.Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewHi Karmen - Thank you for the kind words. - Krystina· October 9th, 2022I had an amazing time with G Adventures and highly recommend this trip. Eddie and Francois were so awesome and knowledgeable and just all around a great time to be around. - SSherry· May 21st, 2022This tour exceeded my expectations. I thought since we were camping the whole time it would be a bare bones trip, but the campsites had proper toilets and hot showers it was really surprising. Didn't get a single bug bite. All our belongings were secure and safe the whole time. The guides are A+ and are fantastic cooks so many delish meals. My first time going on Safaris and was blown away by how many animals we saw. The locals sang and dances for us at the Delta. It was such a memorable trip. I would highly recommend adding this to your bucket list. Victoria Falls is stunning and a great place to end the tour. I would just recommend for other travelers to bring extra cash since most places either didn't have card machines, or if they did they wouldn't work (even at the border). We also found out after the fact that you can apply for e-visas and multiple entry visa online beforehand which will save you lots of time and hassle at the borders.Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewThank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Sherry! It sounds like a beautiful trip. We hope to welcome you on another adventure in the near future!Trip date: May 2022
- Hallie· February 29th, 2020WOW! This trip was absolutely incredible. It was so well organized and so much fun. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly and made the trip so memorable. What our customers ask about this tour
The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.- E
Erin
Asked on March 13th, 2025Is it true that no one over 39 years old can take part in the tour?
- G AdventuresOperator•Written March 2025
We do get asked this a lot and unfortunately, we have to be really strict about it. If we were more lenient on this, we would be false advertising and may lead to customer dissatisfaction and miss-selling of our product. It is not our intention to exclude people, it is simply that we have a specific product which targets that age group and traveller type. To align with our 18 to 30 something campaign, it is necessary to have an upper age limit with no exceptions to keep our promise to our customers.

Asked on February 10th, 2025Where do we meet on the first day, Where do we meet on departure day, What are the vegetarian meals, Do South African citizen get preferable rates
- G AdventuresOperator•Written February 2025
You will meet the group at the starting hotel, provisionally the Hotel Sky Sandton. A welcome meeting takes place around 5pm. We can make a request for dietary requirements at the point of booking the tour. Most of the meals on this tour are included in the tour price. When a meal is not included, this is because there are often many options available. All included meals will be prepared from fresh local produce. The majority of the shopping for foodstuffs will be done before the trip departs, and fresh goods, such as meats, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products, will be bought en route during the trip from supermarkets, local shops and markets. Breakfasts will generally consist of breads and cereals, if time allows a warm breakfast may be prepared. Many lunches will be provided en-route and will be light meals such as sandwiches and/or salads. All evening meals will be freshly-prepared hot meals, and will consist of a variety of continental and local dishes. Our cook will organize the meal preparation and lead the way here, but will prepare a duty schedule for ensuring a fair, rotating participation from you and your group members in the meal preparation and dish washing duties. The rate is as advertised for all travellers.

Asked on January 12th, 2025Do you have anything similar that would accommodate an under 18y?
- G AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025
Johannesburg to Victoria Falls Overland Safari from our Classic travel style would be the near-idential tour option where your 16 year old daughter and yourself could travel together!

Traveler•Written January 2025Can you give me any information about insects/spiders/bugs. One of our party is petrified of them and is not sure they will cope but I assume they cannot be avoided!
- G AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025
We certainly cannot guarantee that insects will not be seen during this camping-based tour. Encounters all depend on the time of day, your location, the weather, etc. We would advise to avoid wearing black pants/clothing as it attracts insects and to pack ample and powerful bugspray to assist with avoiding encounters.

Asked on January 5th, 2025Will this still work? Our group ages are in the late 40s to early 50.
- G AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025
Our 18-to-thirtysomethings tours are designed for travellers age 18-39 years old. Travellers must be 39 years old or younger (but at least 18 years old) as of Day 1 of the departure date of the tour. We have a similar option to the tour you were interested in without an age restriction: Botswana & Victoria Falls Adventure.

Asked on October 13th, 2024Is there a difference in this tour and the Johannesburg to Victoria Falls Overland Safari tour?
- G AdventuresOperator•Written October 2024
The Botswana and Falls Overland: Wildlife Walks & Safari Drives is part of our 18-30'something trip styles, which means it will have an age restriction of 18 - 39 years old at the time of travelling. We launched the Classic style trip of this version the Johannesburg to Victoria Falls Overland a few months ago to allow people to participate in this adventure, even if they are over the age of 39. Other than the trip styles and no maximum age requirement, this trip will visit the same spots. Keep in mind both of them will involve mainly camping accommodation throughout the tour.

Asked on August 2nd, 2024Where do I go from there to get back home?
- G AdventuresOperator•Written August 2024
Our recommendation is that you fly onwards home from VFA airport (Victoria Falls). You would book an open-jaw flight aka a multi-city flight.
- K
Kimberly
Traveler•Written August 2024What is the accommodation like though, will we have internet access at nights so I can keep in touch with back home?
- G AdventuresOperator•Written August 2024
Accommodation on this tour is - Simple hotel (1 night twin share), participation camping (5 nights), bush camping (1 night). In regard to the internet, it is not reliable in this part of the world, especially at campgrounds. In Johannesburg and Victoria Falls, you will have wifi at the accommodation/campground but on the rest of the trip it is not guaranteed that you will have wifi.
