Botswana Tours & Trips
Gliding through the Okavango Delta in a mokoro is pretty zen, but imagine spotting elephants during sunset cruises on the Chobe River, and camping out under African skies absolutely packed with stars. Moremi's got incredible wildlife diversity, the zebra migrations across the Makgadikgadi Pans are something to witness, and tracking lions on foot with guides who really know their stuff? That's Botswana calling your adventurous side.

The safari to Moremi shoiuld start earlier as by the time we got there, most of the predators were under the tree/bushes sleeping and are impossible to find. Our driver did try very hard to find them. Also for us old people, it is necessary to get back By 4.00pm.

Great Safari. The tour operator is excellent. Great communication, the food was wonderful. Amazing what the chef could cook on a fire pit. We saw tons of animals including lions with cubs, hyenas, wild dogs and pups, leopards, elephants, giraffes wildebeest, tons of different antelopes, hyppos, several very cool birds. Our guide Cliff was excellent, very experience driver, even help another tour operator that was stuck in the sand. Only regrets was that we wish we had a few extra days. Great experience, will do it again.

Best tour companies for Botswana tours
Looking at these safari options, Kwalpe Safari Lodge stands out for consistently delivering quality experiences - their staff and food get lots of praise from our travelers. While it's not right in the center, the slightly quieter location hasn't been an issue for most guests. Absolute Africa's 6-day safari takes you through some excellent spots including Chobe and the Okavango Delta, but you should know what you're getting into. The groups tend to run larger and you'll need to pitch in with camp duties like cooking and cleanup. Some travelers weren't expecting this level of participation. TRS Lodge in Kasane is another solid choice that our guests really enjoy. It's well-positioned and delivers reliably good holiday experiences. When choosing between these options, consider what kind of experience you want. If you're comfortable with hands-on camping and larger groups, Absolute Africa covers great locations. For a more traditional lodge experience with attentive service, Kwalpe Safari Lodge or TRS Lodge would be better fits, though Kwalpe's location requires a bit more travel time to reach the main attractions. Our booking data shows travelers generally prefer the lodge options when traveling with family or looking for more comfort, while the Absolute Africa experience tends to attract younger travelers and those specifically seeking a more active, participatory safari experience.
Best places to start your Botswana tour
Most of our safari routes - 45 of them to be exact - start from Maun, your gateway to the Okavango Delta. Victoria Falls is our second most popular starting point with 26 different options, while some travelers prefer kicking off from Johannesburg, Kasane and also Windhoek. Since Botswana's camps and lodges fill up quickly, especially in peak wildlife season, booking around 52 days ahead really helps you get the dates and places you want. For peak season (July-October) you'll need even more lead time. The best wildlife viewing happens during the dry winter months from July through October when animals gather near water, while the green season from November to March brings brilliant birdwatching and better prices. September's particularly good - our regular travelers love it for the nice temperatures and excellent game viewing, plus those cool evenings make the lodge fireside dinners extra special.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter brings the best private luxury safaris in Botswana as wildlife clusters around water sources. You'll start with flights above the Okavango Delta, spotting elephants navigating channels below, then settle into lodges positioned right where animals gather. Our guests love mixing up their wildlife viewing - mokoro canoe trips, walking safaris and also game drives each show you something different. The dry season draws animals to permanent water, making Chobe National Park excellent for elephant herds. Quick 3-day tours focus on Chobe's riverside activities, while longer private options head to quieter spots like Khwai Reserve where you often get predator sightings without other vehicles around.

Spring fills Botswana with new growth and migrating birds - perfect timing for our 5-day delta explorations. You'll glide through Okavango waterways by mokoro canoe, getting close to hippos and crocs while Bayei guides share local insights. The 9-day camping tours work well in spring's mild weather, combining game drives with village visits to places like Xobe where you'll see traditional crafts. Our travelers really enjoy how the tour mixes up Moremi's different landscapes - from flooded grasslands to mopane woods - and also nights out in the stark beauty of Makgadikgadi Pans, home to aardwolf, brown hyena and springbok.

Summer and fall share similar patterns across Botswana's safari areas. Our high-end lodge tours stick to reliable water sources, starting at Chobe where you'll see loads of elephants from boats and vehicles. The week-long trips include time at Zambezi Mubala Lodge - our guests love watching wildlife from the pool between outings. More adventurous types go for mobile camping through Moremi and also Savuti, where guides follow predator tracks along seasonal streams. The wet months bring special moments like watching meerkats at sunrise on Ntwetwe salt pan and spotting baby animals in Khwai.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn in Botswana opens up excellent wildlife viewing possibilities, with several top safari options that our travelers consistently praise. Premium tours blend Chobe National Park with quality riverside lodges, where you can watch elephants gather at the Zambezi. The 9-day camping experiences through Makgadikgadi Pans and Moremi Game Reserve work perfectly in autumn conditions, letting you mix bush walks, mokoro canoe trips and also stargazing from your open-air camp. Our guests tell us they love how these tours combine traditional game drives with special moments - tracking orphaned elephants or watching meerkats emerge at sunrise on Ntwetwe salt pan. The 8-day Khwai safaris showcase excellent predator viewing, as guides use autumn conditions to find lions, leopards and also hyenas along the Boteti River. Most tours make smart use of permanent water sources, where wildlife naturally gathers, giving you prime viewing without the usual peak season crowds.
