Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo
Your Ancient Egypt Tours representative meets you at Cairo airport and takes you to your hotel in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Check-in happens at 14:00, though if you arrive earlier you can relax in the lobby or add an extra night for immediate access to your room. Your evening is open, so you might catch a Nile dinner cruise or the Sound and Light show if you're not too tired from travel.

Cairo
After breakfast, your personal guide takes you across the Giza Plateau to see the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre's Pyramid, Menkaure's Pyramid, and the Great Sphinx, plus the Valley Temple. In the afternoon you head to the Egyptian Museum to walk through its collection of ancient artifacts and King Tutankhamun's treasures. By evening you transfer to Aswan train station for your overnight train south.

- Day 3
Aswan
You arrive in Aswan where your guide meets you for transfer to your hotel. Start by checking out the High Dam, an engineering project completed between 1960 and 1970, then move on to the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest ancient obelisk ever attempted. Later in the day you take a felucca sailboat ride to Philae Temple on Agilkia island and explore the Temple of Isis before heading back.

Abu Simbel
Your representative picks you up early for the Abu Simbel day trip, a drive of about 3.5 hours south in a private air-conditioned vehicle. You'll see the Great Sun Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari, both relocated in 1960 to save them from flooding. After exploring these temples, you make the drive back to your Aswan hotel.

Luxor
After breakfast you head to Aswan train station for the ride to Luxor. When you arrive and meet your guide, you start right away on the East Bank, checking out Karnak Temple, which is the largest temple complex ever built. There's plenty to see here, so you'll spend several hours walking through the various structures and learning the history.

Luxor to Cairo
Following breakfast at your hotel, you cross to the west bank to explore the Valley of the Kings with its 63 royal tombs. Then you visit Queen Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple at Deir Al Bahri, where dramatic limestone cliffs rise behind the structure. You also see the Colossi of Memnon before getting free time to browse local shops. Later you transfer to the train station for your overnight train back to Cairo.

Cairo
You arrive in Cairo and meet your private guide to explore Coptic Cairo, walking through Babylon Fortress, the Hanging Church, Church of St. Barbara, Church of St. Sergius, Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the Church of Simon the Tanner. You'll also stop by Amr Ibn El-Aas Mosque, the first mosque built in Egypt. After lunch at a quality restaurant, you visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization with its royal mummies hall, then transfer back to your hotel.

Departure from Cairo
After breakfast at your hotel, your representative picks you up and takes you to the airport for your flight home. If your flight leaves early before breakfast service, the hotel can prepare a breakfast box for you to take along.
