Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Amarillo
You'll fly into Amarillo and get settled at your hotel. This evening, head out to Route 66's Historic District and check things out on your own. Big Texan Steak Ranch is right there if you want dinner, or you can wander around and find something else that catches your eye.

Amarillo
Start with a guided tour covering Amarillo's history, then the afternoon is open for you to walk through the museums and botanical gardens at whatever pace works for you. Later, you'll head to Cowgirls and Cowboys of the West Ranch for either horseback riding or a photography tour, depending on what you prefer. Finish the day with a traditional chuckwagon dinner.

Amarillo to Tucumcari
You'll drive west today, making stops at Cadillac Ranch and the ghost town of Glenrio right on the Texas-New Mexico border. From there, continue to Tucumcari where you'll check out the Route 66 Museum and the Tee Pee Curiosity shop. Make sure to get photos of the Blue Swallow Hotel and Route 66 Monument. Grab lunch at Del's Restaurant, which has been a Route 66 landmark since 1956.

Tucumcari to Santa Fe
Head to Fort Sumner and explore the historic fort, then visit the Billy the Kid Museum and his burial site. After that, you'll see the Bosque Redondo Memorial, which documents the Navajo and Apache internment. Later, drive toward Santa Fe with a lunch stop in Santa Rosa, then check into your hotel.

Santa Fe
This morning you'll walk through Santa Fe's oldest structures, starting with De Vargas Street House and San Miguel Chapel. Then you'll visit local pueblos including Tesuque Pueblo (occupied since 1200 AD), Puye Cliffs Welcome Center, and San Ildefonso Pueblo, all known for their pottery and jewelry work. The rest of the day is yours to explore however you'd like.

Santa Fe to Albuquerque
You'll have the morning to explore Santa Fe on your own, checking out either the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi or the Palace of the Governors. In the afternoon, drive west to Albuquerque and check into your 4-star hotel. After dinner, you'll take a walking ghost tour through Old Town.

Albuquerque to Gallup
Start the morning at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, then you'll have free time to walk through the historic Nob Hill area. Later in the afternoon, hike the trail at Petroglyph National Monument before continuing west toward Gallup, New Mexico.

Gallup to Flagstaff
You'll cross from New Mexico into Arizona and explore Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert National Forest. Stop for lunch at Winslow's famous Turquoise Room, then pass through the ghost town of Two Guns. Next, hike the Rim Trail at Walnut Canyon National Monument, a 0.7 mile roundtrip that gives you scenic overlooks. Check into your Flagstaff hotel for the night.

Oak Creek Canyon - Sedona - Jerome
You'll tour Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona National Park with a local guide, then climb into pink Jeeps for an off-road adventure through the red rocks with stops at scenic lookouts and filming locations. A picnic lunch is included. After that, drive to Jerome, a ghost town that's being revitalized. You'll visit the world's largest kaleidoscope store housed in Jerome's original brothel building, and dinner is included.
