Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Chiang Mai
Land at Chiang Mai airport and get transferred to your hotel. You can drop off your luggage starting at 2 pm, then head out in the early afternoon to see Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, which sits up on a mountain and is really the symbol of the city. After checking out the temple and the views from up there, head back to your hotel for your first night.

- Day 2
Chiang Mai to Pai
Leave Chiang Mai around 8:30 am and drive toward Pai. Stop by the Morning Market in Mae Malai where hill tribe vendors sell their products and goods. The drive takes you through some nice mountain and forest scenery, and you'll roll into Pai around noon for lunch. From there, walk through Wat Nam Hoo temple, which has a Buddha statue that's filled with holy water. Later, head to the old village of Santichong (Kou Min Tang) which focuses on tea cultivation and has a local market where you can pick up souvenirs.

- Day 3
Pai to Mae Hong Son
Travel via Soppong to Baan Tham Lod and get on a bamboo raft to float through cave systems that wind underground. After you're back from the caves, the drive continues through Ya Pa Nae and Mae La Na, passing through local hill tribe villages along the way. Grab lunch at a local restaurant and settle into your Mae Hong Son hotel. If you're interested, there's an option to visit Ban Nam Piang Din in the afternoon to see the Padaung village (the long-necked women), though that costs extra.

- Day 4
Mae Hong Son to Mae Sariang
Eat breakfast and then check out the local fruit and vegetable market in Mae Hong Son. Stop at two Burmese temples, Wat Nong Jong Kam and Wat Jong Klang, which sit on a small lake. Climb up the hill to reach Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kongmoo for nice views across Mae Hong Son. After lunch, drive south through Khun Yuam and Mae La Noi toward Mae Sariang, getting there in the late afternoon. Spend the rest of the day however you like, maybe grab a cool drink or walk around town a bit.

- Day 5
Mae Sariang to Chiang Mai
Start early this morning for the trip back and head up over Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain. Stop at Vatchirathan waterfall, which has tropical vegetation all around it, and take some photos. Have lunch at a local restaurant, then continue driving via Chomthong and Hang Dong back toward Chiang Mai. The tour wraps up around 5 pm at the airport or at your hotel if you booked somewhere separately in the city.
