14 Days in Thailand, incl. Bangkok and Chiang Mai
Thailand's heritage comes alive over 14 days across 6 key destinations including UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya, riverside Kanchanaburi, and cultural Chiang Mai. Ethical elephant encounters, traditional cooking classes, and overnight hill tribe stays create lasting memories.
- Days 1-2
Bangkok & Kanchanaburi
Your trip starts with a welcome dinner on vibrant Khao San Road in Bangkok. Get up early the next day for the floating markets. One traveler shares: "The morning market experience was incredible, but you'll want to arrive before 8 AM when tour buses start showing up." After the markets take a 3-hour drive west to Kanchanaburi for a River Kwai cruise.
- Days 3-4
Erawan Falls & Ayutthaya
Day 3 takes you to the stunning seven-tiered Erawan Falls. A helpful visitor tip: "Bring water shoes with grip - the rocks get really slippery. The best swimming pools are at levels 2 and 4." On day 4 you'll bike through Ayutthaya's ancient ruins before catching the overnight train to Chiang Mai. Book a lower berth if you're sensitive to train movement.
- Days 5-8
Chiang Mai
Start at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple early in the morning to avoid crowds and heat. The next two days include a village homestay trek that many travelers consider unforgettable. One visitor notes: "The hill tribe trek was challenging but incredibly rewarding. Pack light, bring good hiking shoes, and don't forget a headlamp for the evening." Round out your time with an exciting day of jungle ziplining.
- Days 9-11
Pai
The mountain town of Pai is a 3-hour drive away. A recent visitor advises: "Take motion sickness pills if you're prone to car sickness - the road has 762 curves." Fill your days exploring caves, hot springs and waterfalls. The night market and live music spots showcase Pai's unique laid-back atmosphere.
- Days 12-14
Return to Chiang Mai
14 Days in Thailand Island Hopper, incl. Bangkok and Phuket
The 14-day expedition spans 8 destinations across Thailand, from Bangkok's temples to Phuket's beaches. Floating bungalows at Khao Sok National Park, Muay Thai lessons on Koh Phangan, and snorkeling at Koh Tao's pristine reefs highlight the adventure.
- Days 1-3
Bangkok & Overnight Train
Begin in Bangkok exploring temples and taking river cruises. "The river cruise and temple explorations gave us a perfect cultural introduction before heading south," according to one traveler. Book your Thai massage early on Day 3, as spots fill up fast between 2-4 PM. The overnight train heads south in the evening. The AC runs cold, so pack light sleepwear.
- Days 4-5
Khao Sok National Park
You'll wake up to stunning limestone cliffs and jungle scenery. The floating bungalows are incredible. One traveler notes: "Watching wild elephants from our floating bungalow in Khao Sok was absolutely surreal. Pack waterproof bags for your electronics." You can kayak and swim in clear emerald waters. It gets very humid, so plan your activities for early morning or late afternoon.
- Days 5-7
Koh Phangan
Visit beautiful Bottle Beach, go snorkeling, and try Muay Thai boxing classes open to all skill levels. "The snorkeling spots around Koh Phangan were incredible—we saw so many tropical fish. Get to Bottle Beach viewpoint before sunset for the best photos," says a recent visitor. Book your beachfront rooms well ahead since they sell out quickly.
- Days 8-10
Koh Tao
- Days 11-12
Phi Phi Islands
- Days 13-14
Phuket
14 Days in Thailand, incl. Bangkok and Chiang Mai
A vibrant 14-day route connects 8 cities. Bangkok's Royal Palace, Elephant Nature Park, Khao Sok's rainforest, and Krabi's beaches showcase Thailand's diversity. Features 11 breakfasts, internal flights, and unique stays including jungle rafts in Kanchanaburi.
- Days 1-2
Bangkok & Kanchanaburi
Get to the Royal Palace by 8 AM to beat the crowds. "The Royal Palace's 61 acres are overwhelming, but our local guide made the history come alive," shared a recent visitor. Take an afternoon train to Kanchanaburi and stay at the Jungle Raft Hotel. Remember to pack light since you'll carry bags onto the river boat.
- Days 3-4
Ayutthaya & Northern Transit
Explore Ayutthaya by bicycle in the cooler morning hours. The flat terrain makes for easy riding but bring water and sunscreen. Take the overnight train to Chiang Mai and try to book lower berths for a smoother ride. The minivan trip to Pai takes about 3 hours on winding roads so consider motion sickness pills if needed.
- Days 5-7
Pai & Chiang Mai
Take in Pai's relaxed atmosphere and natural hot springs for two days. "Pai's night market has the best street food—try the khao soi from the stall with the red lanterns," one traveler suggests. Head back to Chiang Mai to visit the Elephant Nature Park sanctuary. After 5 PM check out the South Gate area in the old city for authentic street food.
- Days 8-9
Bangkok & Southern Transit
- Days 10-11
Khao Sok National Park
Explore Thailand's biggest rainforest reserve. Take an early long-tail boat tour on Cheow Larn Lake for wildlife spotting. "The bamboo rafts can get slippery—wear water shoes and keep cameras in waterproof bags," advised a recent visitor. The jungle lodges offer basic facilities and occasional power cuts.
- Days 12-14
Krabi Finale
What people love about 2-week Thailand tours
- Northern Thailand Adventure
Had the most amazing two weeks on this tour. There was such a high variety of activities, and there was not a dull moment. All the group got on extremely well from day one. All of the accommodation we stayed in was lovely. Our tour guides were Bee and Hein, who were friendly, caring and a lot of fun! It wouldn't have been the same without them. I wouldn't change a thing about this trip, and would highly recommend it to anyone.
- Thailand Island Hopper
Where do I begin to describe my 3 weeks on this tour, there are not enough words!!! We were lucky to be blessed with the company of 3 tour guides Luke, Joe and Andre who are all absolutely amazing, friendly and bloody MENTAL people. At no point did I feel uncomfortable, unsafe or unsure about what I could and couldn't do. I travelled alone and ended up meeting some people I will now consider lifelong friends. Throughout the trip you will see so many breathtakingly beautiful places. My particular favourites were Koh Sok and Bottle beach. Both are extremely beautiful but in a very different way. The memories will always come flooding back from my trip to Thailand, from my arrival during Songkran, the beautiful temples, log rolling in Koh Sok, dancing like a maniac and losing my liver in Koh phagan, befriending a guinea pig and naming him Ernie, Kayaking on the HMS Jen, Andres dislocated shoulder, becoming Dr Poi and many more!! Thank you very much for an amazing and eventful 3 weeks in Thailand. I miss you all very much.....See you all soon I hope, The Irish Jen xx
- Total Thailand (Classic)
This was my first trip I took on my own and I am so glad it turned out as great as it did. The inclusions were great and I saw way more than I ever could have on my own. James was fantastic and so easy going. He took care of everything. It was great having a tour guide that was not only so familiar with the things we did and the areas we were in, but in general had so much travel experience that he could give great recommendations for next travel spots! A+
