Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech
Start by getting oriented at Jemaa el-Fna Square, then take a calèche through the medina to see the Koutoubia Mosque and Gardens. You'll walk through the fondouks in the old quarter, and by evening the square fills up with musicians, storytellers, and food vendors. Grab dinner at one of the cafes overlooking everything or try food from the stalls.

Marrakech
Your guide takes you through the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a 16th-century Islamic school with carved cedar, sculpted plaster, and colorful zellij tiles. After checking out the dormitories and prayer hall, head to Dar Di Said Museum for traditional Moroccan arts. Spend the afternoon browsing the souks: spices at Souk el Attarin, woodwork at Souk Chouari, slippers at Souk Smata, and leather and cloth dyeing at Souk des Teinturiers.

- Day 3
Marrakech to Amizmiz
Travel about an hour south to Amizmiz in the High Atlas foothills. You'll explore the market in town, then trek with a mountain guide along narrow roads and mule paths through the hills between Berber villages. Stop for lunch at a local family's home where you'll learn to make bread. Continue hiking into the afternoon, then have dinner and stay overnight at another Berber home.

- Day 4
Amizmiz to Marrakech
After breakfast with your hosts, continue hiking and exploring the local towns in the High Atlas foothills before heading back to Marrakech. Once you arrive, explore the kasbah area south of Jemaa el-Fna. Visit the Saadian Tombs to see 500-year-old work, walk through the sunken gardens at El Badi Palace, navigate the Mellah, and tour the 19th-century Bahia Palace.

Marrakech to Essaouira
Head west toward the coast and Essaouira, passing rolling plains and argan forests where goats climb trees for fruit. There's an optional stop at an Argan Oil Cooperative to see how they extract the oil. Once in laid-back Essaouira, wander the UNESCO medina, go horseback riding in the surf, take a kitesurfing lesson, walk the 18th-century Skala de la Kasbah ramparts with old cannons, or visit Diabat beach. Finish with fresh seafood.

- Day 6
Essaouira to Marrakech
Spend your morning in Essaouira watching windsurfers, surfers, and kiteboarders, or take a lesson yourself. Then head back to Marrakech. Depending on your flight time, you might visit the 12th-century Almoravid Koubba (the only surviving Almoravid monument) and check out the Marrakech Museum in the 19th-century Dar Mnebbi Palace, which has modern and traditional Berber and Moroccan art.
