- Stephen· April 26th, 2025Aaron was very good guide. Stopping when needed for bathrooms. The distance between some locations is very far. The seat belts in the Safari Tour Truck were not to be used because they do not work. I buckeled up and then found the seat belt would NOT unbuckle. Ask the driver to cut the belt but he said no his safari truck would not pass inspection if he cut the belt. I should not have used it...... Do you have any idea what his means.... it is NOT Safety First, it is just get the people thourgh the system.Show more
- Stephen· July 19th, 2025I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever safari experience, and would definitely do another one. The whole organisation of the trip was excellent, and the tour ran very smoothly. From being collected at Walvis Bay airport, to being dropped off at Livingstone Airport, nothing was too much trouble for any of the drivers and guides. I think my only 'complaints' would be that arriving in Namibia is NOT cheap. Although a tourist holiday visa can be dealt with on arrival, it is expensive. I was charged N$1,600.00 for a seven day stay. At least crossing the border into Botswana, and then Zambia is cheaper. They just stamp your passport at immigration control! Also, at our first campsite at Spitzkoppe, although in the trip notes it says, 'guests can enjoy hot showers and there are shared bathroom facilities', where we pitched our tents, there were no hot showers or bathroom facilities. We had two long-drop toilets. At least, if you get out in the night, you can always enjoy the starry night sky and Milky Way! Fortunately, we were only there for one night! As for the safari drives themselves, they were all first rate, and I have many fantastic memories and hundreds of photos to look back on. Some off them were very early starts, (5am at Chobe for example!), but they were definitely worth it. From seeing the sun rise over the Chobe River, to driving close to a pride of dozing lionesses, and seeing elephants, giraffes, baboons and other herbivores at close quarters, was something I'll never forget. Also, the cruise on the Chobe River, was excellent, with very close views of buffalo on the bank sides, elephants, crocodiles, and a large herd of hippos, plus many different bird species. One of the main highlights at the start of the tour was spending a day and a half on game drives around Etosha National Park in Namibia. Again, fantastically close views of all manner of animals and birds, including a very obliging cheetah, who sat and posed on a tree branch for about half an hour, completely oblivious to all the tourists and their cameras! Finally, a big mention to our guide for the tour, Joe, and the ever reliable driver, Harmony. I would recommend both for any awards going. Joe was everything a tour leader should be. Extremely well organised, punctual and efficient, friendly and supportive, and a great cook, ably assisted by those who helped him! Harmony, as driver, was also brilliant. Given the lengths of some of the road trips we went on each day, he never lost his sense of humour, despite, presumably feeling very tired at times. Again, he was always on time in leaving and arriving at destinations, and was very good at assisting people in putting up, dismantling, and packing away their tents, and helping to store them in the truck. He was a very safe and competent driver, and made frequent stops for 'bushy-bushy', toilet breaks along the way! Both Joe & Harmony are a credit to Acacia Africa, and I hope they are used together on future safari tours.Show more

Asked on March 27th, 2025Could you please confirm which battlefields are visited on day 11?

Fiona
Traveler•Written March 2025Do you provide an option for a single traveller to have their own room?
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written March 2025
The battlefield region is known as the Battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal. This area, with its rolling hills and grasslands near the Drakensberg, has been the site of over 60 significant battles that shaped South Africa's history. Key conflicts fought here include: Anglo-Zulu War (1879), First Boer War (1880–1881), Second Boer War (1899–1902). Battle sites within this region are called Isandlwana or Rorke's Drift. Single rooms not available on these overland safaris, all twin share. You will be matched up with another solo traveller of the same gender.

Traveler•Written March 2025Unfortunately I am unable to go ahead with a booking due to the lack of an option to pay a supplement for single occupancy.
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written March 2025
We do offer our South Africa Grand Tour - 14 Days - which is a similar itinerary that does offer a single share option.

Fiona
Traveler•Written March 2025Unfortunately the suggested trip doesn't cover the battlefields or Lesotho. If the single supplement option changes for the longer tour I would be very grateful if someone could message me.

Asked on June 25th, 2023Can I book solo because I am not used to sharing a room. Please let me know my options.
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written June 2023
Unfortunately with our overland tours it's not possible to have a single room/tent, you would be matched up with another solo female traveller. Alternatively, we have a very similar itinerary called Sensational South Africa Southbound 2023 - 18 day tour, which is a small-group lodge safari, and you can opt for a single room on this tour.
- G
Georgia
Traveler•Written June 2023You could match me with another women? How would you know if there is another woman that wants those dates.
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written June 2023
If there is already another single woman booked on that departure, or if one does book the same date, you would be matched together. If you are the only female solo traveller on that departure, you will have the accommodation to yourself. We will never room a solo female with a solo male, so you will either be sharing with another female or have the room/s to yourself.
