Aaron was very good guide. Stopping when needed for bathrooms. The distance between some locations is very far. The seat belts in the Safari Tour Truck were not to be used because they do not work. I buckeled up and then found the seat belt would NOT unbuckle. Ask the driver to cut the belt but he said no his safari truck would not pass inspection if he cut the belt. I should not have used it...... Do you have any idea what his means.... it is NOT Safety First, it is just get the people thourgh the system.

It was a wonderful trip. We were incredibly lucky with our tour leader, Aaron, who run the whole thing very smoothly. The itinerary was very interesting and thought-through so that it wasn’t too tiring. The lodges were were very nice and the people we met were very friendly. We visited some wonderful places and overall it was an unforgettable experience.

We had a great time. Our guide Lucky was friendly and personable. He drove carefully. The JNB airport pickup was prompt. We had a meeting and welcome dinner. The nexxt morning, we drove to Kruger National Park and stayed in a lodge for 3 nights. It took almost one day to reach the lodge. The lodge was fine, with good breakfasts and clean rooms. During the next two days, we did game drives. We saw so many elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, and impalas. We also saw lions 3 times, and leopards 1 time from afar. After Kruger, we had another long day driving to a private game reserve for 2 nights. The tent we stayed was nice, with private bathroom. We did a sunset game drive and saw some animals. After another long day driving on some of the worst roads and 2 boader crossings, we stayed in a lodge for 1 night. In the next morning, we visited a place that looked a lot like a desert, and saw some animals. Then we drove about 5 hour to Chobe National Park. We stayed in a nice lodge for 2 nights. Since we arrived at the lodge before 3 PM, we were able to do an optional sunset game drive provided by the lodge. On this drive, we saw a pride of lions, with at least 12 members. The next morning, on the morning game drive, we also saw many animals. And after a long chase, we even saw a leopard eating a impala on a tree. Our 4X4 was parked right below the tree. The sunset cruise also was productive. The drive to Victoria Falls was short. The hotel we stayed was about a 20 minute walk to the falls. Given the hot weather, it was best to take a $10 taxi ride. The hotel room was not as good as the previous ones.

Could you please confirm which battlefields are visited on day 11?

      TravelerWritten March 2025

Do you provide an option for a single traveller to have their own room?

    • On The Go ToursOperatorWritten March 2025

The battlefield region is known as the Battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal. This area, with its rolling hills and grasslands near the Drakensberg, has been the site of over 60 significant battles that shaped South Africa's history. Key conflicts fought here include: Anglo-Zulu War (1879), First Boer War (1880–1881), Second Boer War (1899–1902). Battle sites within this region are called Isandlwana or Rorke's Drift. Single rooms not available on these overland safaris, all twin share. You will be matched up with another solo traveller of the same gender.

Unfortunately I am unable to go ahead with a booking due to the lack of an option to pay a supplement for single occupancy.

    • On The Go ToursOperatorWritten March 2025

We do offer our South Africa Grand Tour - 14 Days - which is a similar itinerary that does offer a single share option.

    • F

      Fiona

      TravelerWritten March 2025

Unfortunately the suggested trip doesn't cover the battlefields or Lesotho. If the single supplement option changes for the longer tour I would be very grateful if someone could message me.

Can I book solo because I am not used to sharing a room. Please let me know my options.

    • On The Go ToursOperatorWritten June 2023

Unfortunately with our overland tours it's not possible to have a single room/tent, you would be matched up with another solo female traveller. Alternatively, we have a very similar itinerary called Sensational South Africa Southbound 2023 - 18 day tour, which is a small-group lodge safari, and you can opt for a single room on this tour.

    • G

      Georgia

      TravelerWritten June 2023

You could match me with another women? How would you know if there is another woman that wants those dates.

    • On The Go ToursOperatorWritten June 2023

If there is already another single woman booked on that departure, or if one does book the same date, you would be matched together. If you are the only female solo traveller on that departure, you will have the accommodation to yourself. We will never room a solo female with a solo male, so you will either be sharing with another female or have the room/s to yourself.
