- Katie· June 15th, 2025It was a well balanced tour with plenty of free time but a good itinerary meaning you tick off all the main spots in Japan! Our group was a mix of families with older children & solo travellers - I know the tour op can’t help this, but I would’ve liked a trip with more solo travellers. Vin the tour guide was a nice guy but felt he could’ve got himself a bit more involved in the group at times and bring a bit more energy. Accommodation was great as I opted for the single room option and I didn’t feel isolated from the group because of this at all. Overall, a good tour for the price.Show moreTrip date: June 2025

- AAnonymous· May 30th, 2025It was a great tour and we see a lot of things. Sonetimes too many things. But you can choose what do you want to do and go on your own. The tour leader gave us a lot of recommendations also for individual wishes.Show moreThe Dragon Trip commented on this reviewThank you for your review! - AAnonymous· May 30th, 2025Great tour - you get to see so much. We has a full tour 18 people- this was too many people, sometimes hard to hear what was going on and waiting for people but otherwise good. Don't book the tea ceremony unless Dragon trip changes their partner, currently it's very poor.Show moreThe Dragon Trip commented on this reviewThank you for your review and your suggestion! - Rushaa· May 30th, 2025I had an incredible time on The Dragon Trip! The 13-day itinerary was fast-paced and packed with amazing places—it felt like I’d been with the group for months. Everyone was super friendly, and our adventure leader, Vincent, was knowledgeable and always helpful. As a solo traveler, I appreciated having single room options and was happy with all my accommodations. If you enjoy high-energy travel and want to see a lot in a short time, I highly recommend The Dragon TripShow moreThe Dragon Trip commented on this reviewThank you for your review, Rushaa! - Jean· May 18th, 2025I love Japan, and I loved the trip, our guide was also great. Overall, it was a good trip, the only thing I did not like is that in most cases you were brought to an area and then left to make your own plans, figure out transportation etc. We were advised to make plans in advance for this, which I did extensively, then while on the trip, almost all of our accommodations, except for one location, were changed last minute, which meant different parts of the city, and negated most of my plans for free time and dining, etc., that I had made carefully for the original accommodations list / itinerary. The itinerary we were sent did not even include our actual hotel in Tokyo, including pre trip nights we booked, I found out by contacting them to make sure it wouldn’t change between our pre-night stays and the start of the trip. Basically, we were sent an itinerary, and only one of the accommodations was accurate to what we actually did, which I feel an itinerary sent to customers should reflect their actual travel plans, but that was more an issue with the main office. Our tour guide was great and dealt with all situations with grace and professionalismShow moreThe Dragon Trip commented on this reviewThank you for your review and feedback. We're sorry to hear about the issues the issues on the itinerary and would like to hear more details if possible. Could you please reach out to us at info@thedragontrip.com?Trip date: March 2025

Asked on May 8th, 2025I am traveling Solo. I see an option for single accomodation but wanted to confirm what kind of accommodation will it be and if its single accommodation available throughout the trip.
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written May 2025
Standard accommodation within the trip price - Dorm Room. This is shared rooms within hostels, where you can expect rooms of 4-8 beds. In Hakone, all travellers will share gender separated rooms of 3-4 people. Additional fee - Single Room Upgrade allows you to stay in a private room throughout the tour, apart from in Hakone.
- J
Jon
Traveler•Written May 2025Whats the accomodation type in Hakone? The tour detail says, apart from Osaka and Hakone. Is private room available in Osaka?
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written May 2025
We'll use a traditional ryokan with an onsen in Hakone. It will have traditional rooms with tatami beds and 4 people per room. Private room upgrade is available in Osaka too.

Asked on April 22nd, 2025if you look into what the Burning Man community is, music & events that go 24/7 and the camping conditions involved. Staying in hostels where activities can go on until sunrise is not a problem for me as a Burner veteran over 20 years going. I have spent 3 weeks in the Amazon rainforest sleeping on piles of leaves, managed getting the sleep I needed while techno music played in the next camp to mine until sunrise for a week and had to walk 5000 feet on a dirt road to access the porta potty - day/night. Life is all about experience and sharing experiences. It transcends age and I believe that I can relate with any age group because of that. My motto has always been "expect nothing and you won't be disappointed".
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written April 2025
Although we appreciate you're a very active 62 year old, the age recommendation isn't there only for fitness level. We also use it for people to understand the overall dynamic of the trip. The majority of guests that join these trips are in their 20's and 30's. Please also bear in mind that the standard accommodation is shared dorm accommodation for this trip and we can't guarantee you'll have a good nights sleep every night.

Asked on April 18th, 2025What is included in the itinerary?? Is The flight price included????
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written April 2025
We don't include flights in this trip. You will need to book your own flights to and from the Japan. All accommodation is included during the trip. We include all transport during the trip, excluding airport transfers. You will have an amazing adventure leader to help you throughout your journey. The farewell meal and the sushi making class are the included only included meals. It looks like there's still availability for the 2 of you to join the trip departing on the 11th August 2025.

Asked on April 14th, 2025Can you please advise if the traveller is over the age limit but very fit, can they still join the trip? (the traveller is 68 y.o) Can you please also advise the quote for pre and post night? (but in the hotel not hostel)
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written April 2025
We wouldn't be able to accept a guest who's aged 68 onto this trip, however, we might still have availability for them to join our Japan Plus 11-Day Culture Tour: Golden Route & Beyond that departs on the 5th May. This trip uses hotel accommodation as standard and, if they wanted to extend their trip to 13 days, we can add additional pre and/or post trip nights.

Asked on April 2nd, 2025how active is this trip? I walk with hiking sticks because of multiple sclerosis. I can walk up and down on stairs that have a railing or stable steps. uneven surfaces are fine if not too hilly. I am capable of walking 3-5 miles per day if there breaks to rest. thank you
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written April 2025
This tour is quite active with some days having 15-20,000 steps (Approx 6-10 miles per day).

Asked on March 30th, 2025My husband and I would prefer not to be separated during our stay in hostels. Some travel sites said that people may be separated by gender, I want to make sure that will not happen during our trip.
- The Dragon TripOperator•Written March 2025
The standard accommodation is combination of mixed and shared dorms. We can't guarantee what room you will be allocated at each location because it depends on the availability at each accommodation. I can make a note on your booking so that our team are aware you've requested to be roomed with your husband and it is standard practice for us to room guests who are travelling together. If you'd prefer to be guaranteed to stay with your husband for the duration of the trip, I'd suggest opting for the double room upgrade. However, please bear in mind that during the stay at the Ryokan in Hakone, everyone has to stay in gender separated shared accommodation as there is no option to upgrade to a private room here.
