Leave Pretoria early in the overland truck, driving through Mpumalanga's scenic landscape toward the Greater Kruger area. You'll arrive with time to settle in at camp, then gather around the campfire for Shangaan tribal dancing before nightfall.

- Day 2
Kruger National Park
Spend the full day on safari in Kruger National Park using specialized 4x4 vehicles with a local guide. You'll search for the Big Five and other wildlife throughout the morning and afternoon, breaking for lunch. An optional night drive is available if you want to try spotting leopards and nocturnal animals.

- Day 3
Hazyview to Tshipise
Head north into Limpopo province, reaching Tshipise and a resort campsite next to a nature reserve with woodland around it. The afternoon and evening are free, so you can relax by the pool, soak in a nearby hot spring, or walk out to one of South Africa's largest baobab trees.

Tshipise to Matobo
Cross into Zimbabwe this morning, driving through countryside to Matobo, a pleasant city with tree-lined streets. Stop in Bulawayo for supplies along the way before arriving at your campsite for the night.

Matobo National Park
Go out on a game drive and walking safari in Matobo National Park with a resident guide, exploring an area known for one of Africa's largest rhino populations and plenty of leopards. The tour ends at lunchtime, leaving the rest of the day free.

Leave Matobo and drive to Victoria Falls town, then cross into Zambia and arrive in Livingstone. Visit Mosi Oa Tunya, the Zambian side of Victoria Falls and one of the world's largest sheet waterfalls. You'll have options for activities like rafting, canoeing, abseiling, or scenic flights.

Livingstone to Lusaka
Drive to Lusaka, Zambia's capital, and stay at a farm on the outskirts of the city. You'll have a relaxing evening camping out on the farmland.

Lusaka to Petauke
Head out early via the Great East Road connecting Zambia with Malawi. Drive through green countryside and small villages, crossing the Luangwa River along the way. Accommodation is located about 5km from Petauke.

Petauke to South Luangwa National Park
Travel to South Luangwa National Park, Zambia's top wildlife destination. After setting up camp, you'll have free time to go on optional game walks or game drives if you're interested.

South Luangwa National Park to Chipata
Early morning game drive in an open vehicle with a local ranger through South Luangwa. You'll explore the wildlife concentrated around the Luangwa River and oxbow lagoons, seeing around 60 animal species and over 400 bird species. After the drive, head to Chipata.

Chipata to Kande Beach, Lake Malawi

Mikumi National Park Area to Dar es Salaam

- Days 19 - 22
Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Island, Stone Town, Nungwi
Take the ferry to Zanzibar, leaving the overland truck behind on the mainland. Spend time in historic Stone Town with its cobbled alleys and relax on pristine beaches. You'll typically spend one day in Stone Town and three days at northern beaches (flexible). Optional activities include spice plantation visits, snorkelling safaris, scuba diving, and yacht trips.

Bagamoyo to Marangu
Leave Bagamoyo early and drive north past the Usambara and Pare Mountains in the Eastern Arc Mountain Range. Arrive at Marangu, located at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. You'll have great views of the mountain from camp if the weather cooperates.

Marangu to Arusha
Drive past Moshi town to Arusha, Tanzania's safari capital. Spend time exploring the town, then head to camp at the edge of the Masai plains outside the city. In the afternoon, walk to a local Maasai village to visit a school and clinic, check out the Meserani Snake Park with crocodiles and pythons, and browse a small Maasai museum. Camel riding is optional.

Arusha to Serengeti National Park
Switch from the overland truck to designated safari vehicles and head into Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Drive around the crater rim and onto the Serengeti, one of the world's last great wildernesses. You'll see millions of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope migrating with predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs following. Arrive at an unfenced campsite where lions and hyenas roam nearby.

- Days 27 - 28
Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha
Morning game drive searching for any wildlife not yet spotted, then travel to Ngorongoro Crater and camp on the rim of this UNESCO-listed caldera. Day 28 starts with an early morning game drive down the steep road into the crater itself. You'll spot most major African animals except giraffes, who can't climb the rim. Return to camp for lunch before heading back to Arusha.
