Itinerary
- Day 1
Bangkok to Phitsanulok
You'll start with a pickup at the meeting point and head to Bang Pa-In to see the Summer Palace of Rama V. From there, drive to Ayutthaya Historical Park where you'll check out several important temples including Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, Wat Mahathat, and Wat Phanan Choeng. After grabbing lunch in Chai Nat, you'll continue on to Phitsanulok for a quick orientation of the city before settling into your hotel for the night.

Phitsanulok to Lampang
After breakfast, you'll go to Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat early in the morning to watch locals in prayer and see one of Thailand's most revered Buddha statues. Later you'll head to Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO site where you can walk through ruined temples, old palaces, and see various Buddha statues throughout the grounds. Next, it's on to nearby Si Satchanalai to check out more temple ruins and Buddha statues, including a temple you can reach by suspension bridge. You'll wrap up the day by driving to Lampang.

Lampang to Chiang Rai
You'll have breakfast then visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang to see its detailed decorations and Buddha statues. A coffee break at Phayao Lake comes next before heading to Wat Rong Khun, an all-white temple with mirror inlays that was built in the 1990s. After lunch in Chiang Rai, you'll travel to the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar border each other. You'll take a boat trip lasting about 45 minutes around the area with a stop at Don Sao Island in Laos, then finish at the House of Opium to learn about the region's historical significance.

Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai
Your day starts early at the Chiang Rai morning market where you'll experience the local atmosphere and smells. From there, you'll visit Wat Phra Kaew temple, then head to the Hill Tribe Museum and Education Centre to learn about local mountain communities. Lunch happens in Tha Ton, and after that you'll drive to Chiang Mai to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. This temple sits on a mountaintop and gives you sweeping views of the city. You can either climb the 309-step naga staircase or take the cable car up to reach it.

Chiang Mai
After breakfast you'll visit Elephant Poopoopaper Park for a tour through its gardens and eight pavilions that show how paper gets made from elephant dung fibers. You'll get hands-on time working with artisans on this process. Next is Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden in Mae Rim where you can walk the Banana Avenue trail with over 200 banana varieties, check out the tropical rainforest house and orchid house, and try Thailand's longest canopy walkway with glass viewing platforms. After lunch at a local spot, you'll stop by Baan Tipmanee woodworking shop to see traditional carved wooden items. If you want, there's an optional khan toke dinner available later.

Chiang Mai
You'll have breakfast at the hotel and then have the day to yourself to explore Chiang Mai however you'd like. The city's known as the Rose of the North and has lots of green spaces and different things to see and do. You can visit whatever sites and attractions interest you without any set schedule. Later your transfer to Chiang Mai Airport is included for your departure.
