What people love about Bangkok to Chiang Mai Tours
- Highlights of Thailand
Ae was phenomenal. She was so friendly and knowledgeable and very patient with some of the more high maintenance tourists. The trip was an enlightening and magical experience that is will not soon forget. Every activity was enjoyable but I think more time in Chiang Mai would have been good.
- Bangkok to Chiang Mai Express
The tour was AMAZING! I highly recommend G Adventures! I was afraid of not meeting the right people and/or not clicking but our group of solo travellers was amazing! We were 10 ppl, there was only one couple and we were all from 20 to 38 years old... I would definitely recommend arriving at least 1 day in advance to enjoy Bangkok and departing a day or two after to take advantage of Chiang Mai. Take cash with you... at least 8k baht. No one takes credit card!! There are plenty of ATMs everywhere though, just be careful as some overcharge you for the transaction.

This tour is not all -inclusive. When you get to the hill tribe portion you will owe 900 Bath for your three amazing wilderness guides, 100 Back h per night at each one f the tribes to stay in your hut and for meals, a few taxi driver tips (maybe 400 Bath) and probably a few tips I forgot to mention, in addition to snack and beverage money and money to purchase the hand made textiles from the village women. It is not a lot of money but I wish I had known about the extras so I had taken more money instead of leaving it at the hotel in Chiang Mai. It wasn’t fair to the hard working women in the later villages that we all ran out of money. The experience is, however; worth every bit that you tip the tribes! Day one of the hike is really hard! It is only about five miles but the elevation is steep and several of us struggled with the heat and humidity as well (pack electrolyte tabs). Day two hours s about 9 miles and the elevations are more rolling. Day three is 9 miles of flat terrain criss crossing streams and jungle paths, and is the easiest! You will sleep on thin mattresses in bamboo huts so that was hard for some-I was always too tired to care and slept well until the roosters started crowing anywhere from midnight to four a.m. so you really reset your body clock to nature time. Every single person in my group would do the trip over. Lastly, disregard the packing list. Don’t bother packing a sheet. Don’t bother with any cold weather clothing either. High performance quick dry fabrics are the best because nothing else dries over night in the humidity. Pack an extra tooth brush to scrub the red clay dust from your feet- you will see what I mean especially on day two. Showers are just buckets of clean water you pour on yourself, so I would have packed a small wash cloth to scrub better.
