Itinerary
- Day 1Bangkok to PhitsanulokYour pickup happens at 6:45 am, so you'll start early. First stop is the Summer Palace of Rama V in Bang Pa-In, where you can see the royal residence and its grounds. After that, you'll head to Ayutthaya to check out several ancient temples including Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, Wat Mahathat, and Wat Phanan Choeng, each with their own character and historical significance. Lunch comes in Chai Nat before driving on to Phitsanulok for the night, giving you time to settle in. - Meals

- Day 2Phitsanulok to LampangAfter breakfast, you'll head to Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat and join locals for morning prayers. Then it's on to Sukhothai and its UNESCO-listed Historical Park where you can walk through the ruins and see Buddha statues from centuries past. Later in the day, you'll travel to Si Satchanalai and cross the wooden suspension bridge before visiting another Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat in that area. The day wraps up in Lampang where you'll have your accommodation. - Meals

- Day 3Lampang to Chiang RaiYou'll check out Wat Phra That Lampang Luang after breakfast, then head north with a coffee break at Phayao Lake to stretch your legs. Next comes Wat Rong Khun, the all-white temple that's quite distinctive, and you'll arrive in Chiang Rai by lunchtime. The afternoon takes you to the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet, including a boat trip around the area and a stop at Don Sao Island in Laos. You'll finish with a visit to the 212 House of Opium. - Meals

- Day 4Chiang Rai to Chiang MaiStarting early, you'll walk through the vibrant Chiang Rai morning market to see local life in action. A quick visit to Wat Phra Kaew temple follows, then you'll spend time at the Hill Tribe Museum and Education Centre learning about mountain peoples and their traditions. After lunch in Tha Ton, you'll head to Chiang Mai and climb up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Thailand's most important temples with views over the city. - Meals

- Day 5Chiang MaiFollowing breakfast, you'll tour the Elephant Poopoopaper Park for an eco-friendly look at how paper gets made from elephant dung through different pavilions. Next is the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden where you can walk the Banana Avenue, check out the Tropical Rainforest house, and see the Orchid House. If you're up for it, you'll try Thailand's longest canopy walkway. Lunch happens at a local restaurant, then you'll visit Baan Tipmanee woodworking shop, and if interested, there's a khan toke dinner available in the evening. - Meals

The city's called the Rose of the North and has plenty of green spaces and things to see if you want to wander around. Your transfer to Chiang Mai Airport is taken care of, so you can head out at whatever time works for your flight. - Meals
