- Sun· March 15th, 2022We did sooo much with Sun Pyramid hotel and tours! I love them! Twice this year now: Airport transfers from Cairo, Luxor, and Sharm El Sheikh. Overnight tour in Luxor and Cairo. In Luxor had a two day tour with guide extraordinaire Ibrahim Elmounir! In Luxor, we went to valley of the Kings, Luxor temple, Hatshepsut, Karnak temples, a hot air balloon ride which is one of my very favorite things even though we had to get up at 4 AM, and an Old town downtown carriage ride in Luxor. In Cairo we explored Sakkara textile factory made by orphans which brought me to tears it was so special. I bought a small silk tapestry that took six months to make by hand. It will be one of my most special things in my possession. We went to Dahshur pyramids (Black, Red, and Bent) with Guide Mohamed Kafafy and driver Abdel Sallah. Mohamed also took us to The Citadel at Muhammad Ali Mosque. He can teach you the history from beginning to end in Egypt aptly. He is a wealth of historical information. Egypt is a magical place. Timeless. And you get to feel and experience that which is very hard to put into words. Afternoon I am absolutely speechless. His history is ancient. From the beginning of time. The people of Egypt are warm, engaging, and welcoming. The pandemic and economy has hit them hard and they are grateful to us for coming to visit. They are people of passion and heart. I feel a genuine connection there I don’t feel in the United States at home which is pretty cool. I think it’s a good idea to take lots of one dollar bills. Lots of children are selling cool things and you make their day by buying them! They love Americans! Apparently on our worst day, we are better to work with than a lot of others that visit. When we bought the children’s bookmarks for one dollar, they were so thrilled that they sang to us and clapped their hands and one little boy shared half of his hard won cookie with me. I ate it of course. brought tears to my eyes to see their love.Show more
