Bruno was a fantastic guide through a lost corner of the world. Be ready for long days on horrible roads but you get to see the magnificent landscapes, national parks, and lemurs, lots of lemurs through the trip. We traveled by bus, 4X4, boat and included a flight from the capital to the south, all gave us a chance to see Madagascar and it’s wonderful people. Our guide Bruno was probably the best guide I’ve ever traveled with, he was always there to help, answering questions about all topics Madagascar. The food was a bit of a struggle but again the chance to see numerous lemurs was worth it all.

  • M

    Marilyn

    Asked on February 4th, 2022

What is the best time of year to visit Madagascar?

    Tour Details
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten February 2022

September to November is considered one of the best times to visit, as these months sit right in between the cool, dry winter and the hot, rainy season. This time is also considered the best time to view birdlife. July to August offers cooler temperatures and the best chances for whale watching on the coast. January to March is cyclone season, but this is also the best time to see flowering orchids.

      TravelerWritten February 2022

I am considering a trip in September. I will be traveling from the U.S.. Are there any special considerations I need to know? Vaccinations, visas, clothing, ect?

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten February 2022

We do require all our travelers be fully vaccinated for covid19, for other vaccinations necessary for Madagascar we recommend consulting a travel physician.

    • M

Are there any Covid quarantine requirements for entering Madagascar? I am fully vaccinated.

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten April 2022

No quarantine is required but you will need proof of a negative Covid-19 test and there is also a mandatory Covid-19 Test on arrival as well.

    • M

      Marilyn

      TravelerWritten April 2022

How easy is it to get the test on arrival? How long does it take to get the test result? I suppose a better question would be; how early do I need to arrive in Antanarivo and get tested before the tour departure?

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten May 2022

The Arrival COVID-19 rapid antigen test is taken on arrival at the airport.
